“What are you doing out here, cadet?” Fox hadn't heard Alpha-17 approach; the wind was too strong, and Alpha could move silently if he wanted to. It was only a matter of time before someone had found him. Of course it was Alpha. or Alpha-17 talks Fox down from the ledge.
Cadet Fox fic following his reaction after the death of a batchmate and an intervention from Alpha-17. [6k, Gen, Canon Compliant, content warning for suicide attempt]

I am dropping this here and washing my hands of fiddling with it lol. I love writing Fox angst and haven't written anything for him as a cadet so, here we go. Kinda based on a line from Jareor but you don't have to connect them.
#HOLY FUCKING FUCK#OHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGOD#IM SO FUCKING EXCITED THE MOMENT I HAVE MY LAPTOP IM GONNA GO BATSHITTTTTTT#OMGOMGOMG#commander fox#alpha-17#fic recs

Hey folks do you think Fox chose the red, or did the Chancellor decide on the colour for the Coruscant Guard? Because I feel like there's potential for angst here. You know, literally deciding who they have to be. With the only variable every other battalion gets to decide for themselves. Making them fit into the senate, making them belong to it. And Fox taking most of the colour to draw attention to himself and away from the others, and, you catch my drift

I have a theory that I want to test, so I'm asking a handful of Fox blogs. Who's your favorite 501st trooper?
Rex! God, I fucking love Rex. He's so fascinating to me.

Idk I feel like a lot of fans forget that Palpatine is in fact a beloved figure in-universe. The RotS novelization calls him the most respected man in the galaxy; the people of the Republic like and trust him so much they’re willing to support a sudden genocide and outright descent into fascism for him; in Andor, a group of rebels fighting the Empire seem to respect him and legitimately believe that the ISB is running a shadow government responsible for the Empire’s atrocities.
Right up until ANH with the destruction of Alderaan and dissolution of the Senate, Palpatine is an incredibly popular leader. The vast majority of people in the Star Wars galaxy like and support him. They don’t know he’s the villain, and that’s kind of a vital part of the story

one star war viewing experience that i think has been totally 100% lost to time / cultural dominance: obi-wan being a mysterious and lowkey dubious figure in a new hope. he’s introduced doing this absolutely terrifying screech (which he never does again? before or since?), in a cloak with his face covered (classic villain coding, also very close to the emperor’s exact look) and this comes after a build up of him being some “old wizard” luke is told is dead, that he shouldn’t be going to see at all—and his dialogue only raises more questions than answers. a big part of it is alec guinness’ expert ptsd performance, of course, but there’s such a real strangeness to obi-wan’s debut. he’s a mentor, but he’s also a hardened warrior, also a deliverer of some incredibly ominous lines, also a disembodied voice, an undead, unkillable entity. i don’t think it was some accident that the “fake twist” used to hide the real twist in empire was that obi-wan killed luke’s father, is all i’m saying really. i think there’s an undercurrent in anh that, as the jedi/obi-wan/star war grew in popular culture and the light side/dark side lore got more ironed out, isn’t really accessible now. but it’s fun
