As mentioned in a ramble grian, and now pearl thanks to another wonderful anon, are tied to the watchers in this au, and so they have sort of, idk non-mortal forms or whatever, so I'm just trying stuff out with them
I thought of this Double Life AU where everyone goes back to this life, Empires SMP is still peaceful, and Hermitcraft is still bustling with activity. But for some reason, something feels off to the players, so they decide to follow their heart and see where it leads them, slowly revealing the ugly truth.
Each had their own story. Different chapters. Ugly truths. Betrayals.
Another session 1 doodle dump! I had to do the other Martyn aside that cracked me up, and uh….
Idk man. Something…. Something about the vibes of the mansion coming back magically next session, and how, for everyone else, that’s kinda weird or whatever, but for… um, a select certain few, maybe they’ve got this Weird feeling they can’t place that something is Wrong about this, and the extra boogeymen rolls, and… maybe they’ve got a sense that they’ve felt this way before.
Can I... talk about the theory that winners help craft the next game?
Because, and I really can not say this enough, it puts So Much into perspective.
Everything starts out Normal. Three lives, simple, cut and dry, there hasn't been a winner yet. No one to help craft the game. (And there's something to be said about how simple it really was. Not even a real expectation of the world becoming pvp or combative. No idea of the war to come)
Then Grian wins. The green killer, the man who vowed his first life to the one whose life he took. The next game the boogie man is born. A mechanic that allows and, in fact, demands, a green kill. People can trade lives back and forth, currency and debt wrapped up in one. (can we still be friends? Said the red partner. A life time later and reds are hostile, alone. Maybe it's an answer: No. Not anymore)
Scott wins this time. He refuses to play the game. He will not kill his team, he will love and he will do so fiercely and with all of himself. The next game people are attached through to their very souls. Every bit of damage to one soul is done to its twin. There is no boogeyman. (There is no way for a widow to be left without their love)
Pearl wins and she wins a blood bath. Spent the game draped in red, only wolves for company. Sitting in her tower, shivering in ice, maybe she wanted it to end. To see where it would. Limited life rewards you for killing, limited life has a clock tick tick ticking down, you always no how long you have. A curse yes, but a blessing too.
Now It's Martyn's turn.
And what a turn it is.
Keep your secrets, says the disloyal man, keep them well. Everything hurts, everything Matters, says the man fracturing with every loss. (What if we could love each other without hurting? Says The Hand, who never wanted to be coated in blood)
More importantly, Martyn has always seen the watchers below the surface. Now, they're right here in front of him. Something that could almost... be rebelled against, no? Something that someone else could finally point to and say: hey, hey isn't that familiar?
the snails but I turned them into giant mounts!!!! for funsies
I usually hate spending more than 3 hours on a piece, but I had a lot of fun doing these
the hermitcraft-related rpg maker horror game au thing me and @akuroshi1 made. while everyone else tries to stop the end of the world you get to play as a passionate architect who (just so happens) has been personally wronged by his local politician a few days ago. shenanigans ensue
We started watching Pearl's POV of Double Life for the first time and it's so interesting but tragic? Like we knew that her and Scott were divorced since episode one but from every other POV we watched it always seemed like it was a mutual split. So imagine our surprise end of episode one when, after doing Martyn's silly game, Cleo and Scott said they decided to be one another's soulmates, explicitly saying they wanted nothing to do with their soulmates AND Martyn (in a fit of misguided frustration) also leaves Pearl.
Which in that same breath I'm surprised that people don't really seem to talk about what are they called, "cheater duo" more often. Especially since for most session one, Martyn and Pearl had been getting along amazingly? They were singing back and forth with each other, generally riffing off of each other. Even in some later episodes, Martyn and Pearl start getting along again. Martyn goes into the water to get Pearl's disc after Scott threw it off the bridge, pretending to run away from her with it to only give it back in his base.
I will admit I'm still not done with watching her POV yet and I know Martyn was trying to get Cleo back most the season as well but how does no one talk about them???
