Well… the games are in chronological order, and if I remember correctly the game guide of Kirby’s Dream Land (1) tells us he announced out loud something along the lines of "Don’t worry! I’ll get your stars powers back!" Meaning he could already talk pretty well at that point. I think he didn’t talk that much yet tho, more as a choice than an incapacity to do so.

I also headcanon that "Poyo" is a default answer for him, he kinda just say it when he doesn’t know what else to say.

Second question for my fellow Kirby fans. How much do you think should Kirby be able to speak? He couldn't really in the anime beyond, you know, poyo and I think that would track early on but Forgotten Land implies that he answers Elfilin's questions which would mean that he can at least speak some by the time of the modern games.

It’s always interesting to think of the Kirby game in the gameplay perspective…

It’s difficult to explain- but I like to imagine all the different ways you can interpret the gameplay as canon. For example; Kirby’s Dream Land (1) is the only mainline game where he doesn’t have access to copy abilities, despite the appearance of Waddle doos (a copyable enemy) and possibly others. To me you can interpret it in two ways; or Kirby didn’t develop the ability to copy yet (shameful way to include my headcanon that Kirby was in-between the human equivalent of 6 n 12 during the event of the first game), or he just stopped absorbing enemies instead of spitting them out after the first few enemies, thus never absorbing a copiable enemy in the event of that game. To summarize what I mean, because I feel like I’m explaining myself horribly… I want more people to have personal explanations for gameplay stuff. One of those I see and like the most is interpretation for Kirby’s blank stare in game, little stuff like that that so often gets overlooked by the story points. Does that make sense??

To anyone who understood what I was trying to say, please share the headcanons you have, I loves seeing them!! May it be in the comments or in my (always open) ask, it’ll make me happy to add some of them to my personal interpretations.

Y’know, I think the whole Cake fiasco in Squeak squad, or just the storyline as a whole, was this weird mess because Kirby was having a bad day and the cake was supposed to be a consolation for it.

It would kinda explain why Kirby jumped to Dedede as an immediate conclusion; he wasn’t in his best mind and Dedede just felt like the easy answer to him, so much so that he jumped on him instead of ever considering asking him. The Squeaks just happened to be there too- and as much as Kirby’s job is to "protect Dreamland" and the Squeaks are theoretically a treat, he solely focuses on the cake during the game because he really wanted his increasingly deserved slice of cake.

I feel like seeing the story in this point of view makes the very messy story of Squeak squad make a bit more sense. Plus, Kirby probably rarely has any bad days anyways, so messing with him on one of them very much would make him aggravate this easily over something small like a arguably-replaceable slice of strawberry shortcake.

Can’t say I didn’t expect that result… it does make more sense. Who cares let’s let the Waddle dees enjoy their food and steal the ones from every other enemy!!

Do y’all think the few enemies who drops food were carrying the food, or second option, do you think while disappearing from being defeated, they’re teleported to where food was so got switched (this one only works if you follow the mindset that enemies defeated gets teleported somewhere random)

I though about this when playing RtDLDX and a Blipper dropped an ice cream, and the thought "Why would a fish be carrying ice cream?" Evolved into this

So apparently Kirby’s Dream Land release date is tomorrow (for me) and I completely forgot. I should really start marking these release dates on my calendar-

So yee! Happy 33rd Birthday to Kirby! Also to his game series as a whole, as well as Dedede, Wispy and even Krako!!

Despite my unawareness of this awesome event up till now, I’ll still try and draw something to celebrate! (Don’t expect to see it tho, sorry)

Ok how do I start this-

This is my Kirby side-blog, owned by me (obviously), a heavy lurker that wants to be more active, and just so happens to have a plethora of Kirby headcanons and opinions, plus good enough artistic skills. So here’s how I want this to work; I want to both dump art and headcanons here, but since I never know what to share, ask are not only open, but encouraged!!

Things to know and expect;

Didn’t watch the Kirby anime and don’t plan on doing so

Played like- Half the games and always trying to play more

First game I’ve played was Kirby’s Adventure on the NES, expect a bit of bias towards it .-.

Does not believe in the "Voidborn theory", aka Kirby isn’t a reincarnation of Void, at least to me (will link post(s) when I talk about it)

HEAVILY AGAINST KIRBY BEING A CHILD, most likely because of not watching KRBAY. Nothing inherently wrong with it and I am not against anyone who prefers that point of view, I just personally dislike it

Firmly believe that Kirby beating Gods so often shouldn’t be the only argument for why he’s so strong

Currently in the process of making Gijinka design for pretty much every character, Already have a solid Kirby design, yet only has vague ideas for the rest of them.
