He developed his human form during his early years with Allison & Tom to ease with hiding him from others, he was introduced as a child Allison found & adopted as her own.

Had an immense fear of Joey when around him which later turned to disdain as he grew.

During his teenage years he learnt with the help of Tom more about the ink machine, which later in life led to him being hired to work at Arch Gate as their engineer.

Nathan knows who Ben really is after a confrontation which is why he was willing to hire him.

He knows of Wilson's doings & has warned him many times to not mess with the machine, they hate each other but Ben hates him more.

Until the events of batdr, Ben had never attempted to enter the ink realm.

Ben is studying to be a train engineer.

Ben is very aware of Audrey & became very interested in her existence but couldn't figure out why. Allison thought it was a crush and kept trying to hook them up. (Oh Allison, if only you knew...)

He grew a habit of unknowingly staring intensely at Audrey who could feel it

After entering the ink realm to rescue Audrey, Ben had a VERY hard time convincing her he wasn't the Ink Demon due to his form being morphed to resemble the monster.

He didn't have a good time when his ink parent copies didn't recognize him & tried to kill him.

Him & Audrey became good friends after escaping the realm and would bond over their similar interest.

Allison didn't have a good time finding out Audrey is practically Ben's sister & Thomas couldn't help but find it hilarious.

So if a person from the human realm dies in the ink realm, would their body stay in there or something?

Personally I think the machine would later spit them out.
