Trying to rekindle my love for science, physics and astrophysics as I work towards a Master’s degree, one small step at a time. This blog is for musing, discussions, a bit of shit posting/memes and learning.

the more i study physics, the more i deviate from my initial ideas about the subject being intuitive—that the physical world behaves in a manner that just by merit of interacting with it since i was born, i would have this gut feeling of how things worked, even without understanding the why and how of it. while this does hold for certain phenomena, it’s also completely invalid for others. and also that, despite my intuition being wrong, science always has a perfectly good reason for me to be convinced otherwise, contributing to the next time i intuitively try to understand a similar situation. stars with more mass burn out faster. a conducting wire is electrically neutral. magnetic force does no work. quantum tunneling: enough said. the whole wave-particle duality as a concept. tbh, most of quantum mechanics is so mind-blowing to me, even after the novelty of the subject has long since faded. anyway, physics is amazing, because it challenges how we perceive reality and uncovers the mystery of the mundane in a way that feels fantastical, yet believable.
