There is definitely a third party involved in the character we play much like in Undertale. I think it arranged like this: Choices are made by the player, determination and save points is a property of Chara, and the vessle is the personality that is a result of the player's choices. Now in Undertale, the player remains the dominant force in control until the person we make completes their journey, then they are the ones in control, unless we do genocide and hand that power over to Chara. That, I think is the dynamic in Undertale.

But in Deltarune, Chara has the ability to wrench away power from the player when out vessle is unconscious or focusing in on another person. With us the player out of the picture, Chara is left with control over the vessel before we could finish developing our person. Our bond as a player, to character broken. There is hope however, because we are still CONNECTED to the game. Now the question is whether Kris is in our body with chara, or if they are with our soul. They could also be dead, but hopefully that's not the case.

Whatever kind of person Kris is, and however much agency they’re left with, one thing we know for sure is that they really did grow to care about Susie on their own:

since they do all these things without prompting from the player.

Oh God!!! It kills me inside to say, but I now think Ralsei is aligned with Chara! NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Why!!!

after getting thrown in jail and helping susie with some puzzle, ralsei tells us, the player, to close our eyes and focus on susie, so we shift to her perspective and watch her fight lancer, and when we go back to kris they’re finishing up a conversation with ralsei right?

is it possible that ralsei is aware that kris is being possessed by the player, and did this to be able to speak to them and relay some important information without the player hearing it?

Now that I think about it, there is something definitely wrong with this picture. Wonder what it could mean, and if the fluffy child is really the benevolent goat we all know.

So, how does Ralsei know your name?...

This is definitely not an oversight from Toby’s side, we’re talking about the guy who made a game where one of the main plot twists was not questioning your own character’s name through out the entire story

Literally the first time we talk to Ralsei, these are his words:

Pretty sure he didn’t “overhear” yours AND susie’s name, they didn’t even speak calling eachother by their name prior to his encounter

Plus, if mean overhearing them before the arrived there, then why doesn’t Lancer know?…:

He was already chasing us by the moment we arrive… and yet…:

He doesn’t know Kris’ name…

So how is it possible that Ralsei already knows both of your names the second you interact with him?

A prince with no subjects.That already knows your name and is literally too perfect for this world.

I remember the first time I played Undertale, the first person I met backstabed me the second he got the chance, funny enough…it is also the first person we encounter in this world.

So idk about you… but I’ll keep my guard up on this one.
