A Tale Of Two Sisters 2003
Two sisters who, after spending time in a mental institution, return to the home of their father and cruel stepmother. Once there, in addition to dealing with their stepmother's obsessive and unbalanced ways, an interfering ghost also affects their recovery.
Just watch. It's perfect. Everything you could want from a horror/thriller. The lighting, music and cinematography are amazing and the acting is really something special. If you haven't already seen this, then do yourself a favour and do. You won't regret it.

Battle Royale 2: Requiem 2003
Three years after the failure of the last BR program, a second act is forged and a class of students are sent to an island with one objective: kill international terrorist Shuya Nanahara. Okay, so this movie was never going to be as good as Battle Royale, lets face it but its better than most sequels as it actually strays from the original plot line of its predecessor. Thats really the only good thing I can say about this film. I would only really recommend it if you're going to watch the directers cut as it actually makes the film quite decent and adds to the characters developement, but otherwise I would stay far, far away from Requiem.

Battle Royale 2000
In the future, the Japanese government captures a class of ninth-grade students and forces them to kill each other under the revolutionary "Battle Royale" act. One of the most controvesial and thought provoking films ever made, Battle Royale is violent, exciting, gory and satirical all at the same time. I would recommend this film to anymore as its one of those films you should see at least once before you die. Definately check this one out.

Depatures tells the story of a newly unemployed cellist who takes a job preparing the dead for funerals. The winner of Best Foreign Language Film of 2009, Departures is a beautiful film which focuses on the subject of life and death. The film is supported by magnificent performances from the lead and support cast, the musical score is beautiful and the story is original and very interesting. If you don't wach this film, you're crazy. It's wonderful.

Thirst 2009
Thirst tells the story of a priest who, after a failed medical experiment, is striken with vampirism. A new and different take on the whole vampire love story, the cinematography is creative and gorgeous and the direction is fantastic. The only things I didn't really enjoy was the overall duration of the film, it seemed to drag at the start but eventually came together after the first 20 minutes or so and the acting was a little off at times. However, I would recommend this film to anyone as it is definately worth seeing even if it doesn't seem like something you would normally watch. If you are a fan of asian cinema, then you should love this.

Uzumaki (Spiral) 2000
To sum up this film, a strange obsession of the spiral takes over a small town. Sound kinda fucked up? Well Uzumaki is based on a manga, with the same name, by Junji Ito and his other mangas have strange plots too. Anyway, the acting was overall pretty mediocre and quite often just bad but the special effects were amazing and the plot is interesting. Overall I thought it was good and worth watching if you're into b-movie style horror. Its not the best horror film I've ever seen but its definately not the worst.

Whispering Corridors 5: Blood Pledge 2009
The fifth installment in the Whispering Corridors film series. Definitely the most frightening of the series and its certainly the bloodiest. The cinematography is done beautifully, the story is confusing to begin with but comes together in the end and is quite easy to understand. The best thing about this film, I think, though is the characters as the friendship between So-Hee and Eon-joo is very realistic and I especially felt more for them because of that. The ending made me cry like a baby. If you liked the first four installments of Whispering Corridors then you should watch this one too.

Whispering Corridors 4: Voice 2005
The fourth entry in the Whispering Corridors films series. Unlike the first three films the horror starts almost immediately. The music is crucial in Voice and it really helps the atmosphere of the film. Not as good as it predecessor but if you liked the first three Whispering Corridor films then I would still give this one a go.

Whispering Corridors 3: Wishing Stairs 2003
It is the third in a series of South Korean horror films set in girls high schools that began with 1998's Whispering Corridors, but, as with all movies in the series so far, it is unrelated to the others. The best so far in the Whispering Corridors film series. Beautiful cinematography, great writing and acting. Worth watching for sure.

Whispering Corridors 2: Memento Mori 1999
It is considered to be a loose sequel to the previous year's Whispering Corridors as it is set in an all girls high school but other than that they are not related. The story is told in a nonlinear fashion which adds to the suspense of the film. Although sequels tend to be worse than the original, Memento Mori is a step up from Whispering Corridors. The story is more well thought out and more time is spent on the characters. If you liked Whispering Corridors then you'll love this.

Whispering Corridors 1998
The first of many horror films in Korean cinema after the end of the countries censorship. Although it is classed as a horror film I would actually call it more a mystery/thriller. There are some scenes that actually made me jump but nothing that kept me up all night or anything. Still, this is a great film to watch and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys foreign cinema and/or not so scary horror films.
