Happy birthday! Here’s a Panic Attack

My birthday was wonderful, except for that last part.
On Anxiety Aftermath
1. You don’t have energy to construct a well-written thing. So you list, because your thoughts aren’t organized enough to construct a paragraph. But at least you made it to work today and found deodorant in your desk so... good enough.
2. Dizziness. Unable to focus.
3. Tummy issues.
4. Continuing to make problems bigger than they are, which, with me- contributes to my physical crappery. (Tension, indigestion, iosjfkadoifea)
5. General sadness and numbness.
6. Still have to go to class after work today. Still have a list of wonderful commissions to complete. Still have a play deadline for the end of the month. Breathe and carry on.

Les Liaisons DangerYASES

I went on an Uptown adventure on Saturday night to Theatre Three and found myself in a very disturbingly sexy, timely piece of theatre featuring some of the most incredible performers in the D/FW Theatre Community.
I’ll be honest. This script... is very wordy and can be hard to follow.
However, Tiffany Nichole Greene navigated the story masterfully. Her artistic instincts and use of the layout of Theatre Three as a whole inspired me! She infused so much energy into the space, and her use of masks to symbolize the animalistic nature of it all was... haunting. Inseung Park’s set design was clean, interesting to look at, and lent itself well to the Theatre Three space.
Here are 10 reasons to GO SEE THIS SHOW THIS WEEKEND (final weekend):
1. The Uptown area is easy to navigate and FULL of pre-show delights. For more information about my favorite Uptown hangs, go to my Instagram @oohneely ;)
2. Theatre Three’s staff is accommodating, incredibly kind, and ready to help you have the best experience possible.
3. Literally not a bad seat in the house for this show. Tiffany N. Greene has set all audience members up for success.
4. Fantastic performances by some of Dallas’s best.
5. Yummy beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) that can be brought into the theatre with the T3 Cup.
6. MASKS.
7. Relevant themes in our current political climate.
8. Sweet, sweet memories of seeing Cruel Intentions back in the day.
9. Incredible, character-driven costumes by Susan Yanofsky.
10. Smooth, intense but controlled fight choreography by Jeff Colangelo.
Go support local theatre and make a NIGHT OF IT!

Experiencing Uptown, Part 5: What to wear to @theatrethree ? Idk... Polka dot parts, power buns, and a tank? IT'S HOT IN TX, YA'LL. But like... Deodorant if we're being real. Make an effort to conquer the sweat.

Experiencing Uptown, Part 4: @tacosandtequilatnt 🍸 I LOVE Tacos and Tequila. Their margaritas are strong and their queso is STRONGER. Sadly, no happy hour on Saturday evenings BUT if you're going to see something at @theatrethree on a Friday night, here's a Tex-Mex pro-tip... Get here at 6:45, order and app, a marg (and possibly a second marg before happy hour ends at 7), and you'll have made out like a bandit for dinner/drinks for UNDER $12. Be nice to your server, they're incredibly kind and love their @theatrethree folk. I've been told you get a discount if your bring your ticket from the show ;) LOVE THAT.

Experiencing Uptown, Part 2: Need a place to casually chill/escape/whatever you prefer? Option 1: Ginger Man has lots of particularly cozy introvert hiding spots throughout, as well as any beer you could ever want. If you're an inside introvert, park it on one of the many couches and plug in your phone so you don't have to talk to people! If you're an outside introvert, go into the cozy Ginger Man hut and people watch. If you're an extrovert (you lucky people person), enjoy the many socializing options such as darts, board games, and community picnic tables. I envy you, extroverts. This is of course, at 6:15 p.m. on a Saturday. Once it hits 9 p.m., you may be dealing with a pretty full house. Luckily you'll be experiencing @theatrethree by then!! More on that later. Thank you, @thegingermantx for always being my go-to place of "where-do-I-go-I-got-here-too-early." #uptowndallas #introvertproblems #beer #chill

One of my kids who graduated last year, who Ive watched change and grow into the most phenomenal young woman sent me this picture from her assigned reading of Tuesday’s with Morrie for her college English class. I cried. Sometimes, every so often we get a reminder like this that we’re doing it right.

Maybe that’s worse, not letting ourselves be loved. Because we’re too afraid of giving ourselves to someone we might lose.
