some of it is because a lot don't have lyrics, aren't in languages i understand or the lyrics just aren't that deep (eg niña asómate a la reja / que te tengo que decir / una cosita a la oreja) ... i think that, except from some cantautores and the genre of "poetry put to song" which i really enjoy, i simply don't listen to that many songwriter-focused songs lol

there's lots of song-focused games/challenges on twitter than involve explaining your favorite lyric or something like that and it's made me realize i really don't pay any attention to lyrics in my songs lmao
