For the past few years, I’ve been a part of a project known as TimeSplitters: Rewind(TS:R). TS:R is a recreation of the TimeSplitters series of games in full HD for PC. I joined the team in 2013 when I was still learning and left in 2016 to focus on my studies and work on smaller projects.
TS:R was a huge undertaking as the TimeSplitters games amassed near 300 playable characters over three games. I took on too much work and quality began to drop as I tried to do too much at once and began rushing my work. Despite everything, though, I’m still proud of the work I did and value the time I spent on Rewind. I had a lot of fun recreating some of my favourite characters from my childhood as well as making new friends with similar interests.

your asriel is actually really cute. i dunno if other people would find it uncanney valley but i wouldnt mind it if you released it for people to play with.
Oh thank you. Out of the people I showed him to, only one person really voiced any concern but I myself was conflicted about certain design choices. I’m still thinking about redesigning certain things because the model itself, full body, was done. No rigging though. Still, thanks!

UNDERTALE SPOILERS
As a modelling blog, this blog hasn’t really shown much modelling stuff lately. So here’s some Undertale fan models I’ve been cooking up in my free time. Undertale left a pretty big impression me and I’ve been listening to the OST non-stop. Despite the other work I need to do, I find myself sketching characters so here’s one I got pretty far with: OMEGA Flowey... BOSS Flowey... something Flowey.
Note that this is actually a WIP model but I thought I’d show it off anyway. Things like the eyes are nowhere near finished and the texture could probably use a couple of touch ups.
I was also making an Asriel model with the intention to bring him into SFM but my stylistic choice didn’t really fit Undertale. Regardless, I thought I’d show him off anyway. Note: I figured I’d post about Asriel now that there’s now already an Asriel model available for SFM.
Tumblr media
I’m not sure if I should bring my Flowey into SFM. I’ll leave that up to you guys. Still, I do really want to tackle some other Undertale characters at some point. If I do try modelling Asriel again, I’ll probably remodel him from the ground up... maybe.

Tip of the Hats: Sally & the Sunbeams Max’s Head
A while ago, I posted the outro for Tip of the Hats to my Youtube channel. I also posted up the 1080p version of the promotional poster that was used to announce Tip of the Hats 2015, which you can find here. Those four children featured in that video and poster - particularly the girl in pink - have gotten way too close to my heart.
Tumblr media
The girl in pink, who I named Sally, became my mascot for Tip of the Hats. Originally she was supposed to have braids, but that was saved for the girl on the very right of the promotional poster. At the surface, she’s a modified Olivia Mann model, with Multitrip’s “Passion Ribbon”, Uncle Grumpskin’s “Greatest Gift”, a reddish-brown Brutal Bouffant, and big brown eyes. At the core, she was a symbol - as was the Unusual Sunbeams Mann Co. Orange Max’s Severed Head, which didn’t actually exist in TF2 ever and we joked that Reddit was going to give us a hard time about it. (We wanted Sunbeams, and we wanted a cute hat that we felt kids would like. It felt right at the time.) I LIED IT’S REAL OH SHIT
Tumblr media
I knew I wanted a Heavy - very friendly compared to canon!Heavy who seems a little more apprehensive about children - in a Tipped Lid and a Jaunty Pin as the mascot of most of the SFMs I’d churn out for ToTH; Sally would also be right there with him a majority of the time, wearing that one-of-a-kind non-existent Unusual Hat. There were posters and SFM work where I wished I could have showcased the other kids as well as Demo/Pyro/Engie/maybe Miss Pauling a little more, but with the time given, I had to make due with what I was capable of.
Tumblr media
The ToTH staff’s reception to Sally and the other three kids was positive. Kurt said he felt like her when he first saw the poster, and was really excited to put it out. Sean joked about who approved her name to be Sally, which was initially a placeholder, and said he loved it. This actually came in handy when Salamancer AKA Sal AKA “it says Sally! it was meant to be” was signing the print of the promotional poster that would also be given to the winner of the ToTH quilt.
I really wanted her and the kids to appear in the trailer, which Kurt took over for in the end due to physical and mental health issues that came up during then. I insisted to Dashner, who helped me out a bunch during Tip of the Hats, that I really, really wanted these kids to re-appear from the poster to the outro. I wanted that connection not just to make the marketing match, but for the emotional impact of seeing them again (particularly the girl with braids: the way she was made for the promo from the front view was utterly terrifying).
Tumblr media
The outro, which was done live on-site (with an actual ergonomic, non-carpal tunnel inducing setup holy shit my wrists and back felt so much better) and done with a “hey, how can we animate this but not actually animate anything within SFM because your wrist is almost RIP” was that opportunity.
The outro description has the original story plan for the credits sequence: Sally would stop Heavy, give him a hug - or give him a wrapped gift first, Heavy would unbox it with Demo and Pyro watching, and it would be a jaunty pin, THEN Sally and Heavy would hug. It would be cute, light-hearted, cheery and heartwarming - for whatever reason, I changed the game plan.
Tumblr media
I’m not sure if I did it because I love giving people heart-wrenching emotions, or if somehow I foresaw that the outro would be incredibly emotionally invested to the point where I was holding back tears. I didn’t think anything involving Sally or the kids would be in anyway even a little bit sad. I didn’t think I’d have Sally be on the verge of crying, while the other kids watched her with understanding smiles, as she ran to hug Heavy, as though she wasn’t ready to watch him and the other mercs go.
Tumblr media
Our Heavy understands, and he reaches down to give her a big hug. They can’t be bloodthirsty mercenaries on the battlefield all the time - they’ll be back next year to give the kids some more sweet hats (probably picked off the battlefield TBH), as well as play games and have fun. Hopefully, all the kids he and the mercenaries have helped that year will be there next year, unless they’ve checked out because they’ve found life. Hopefully with them, Sally will shine on and shine brightly - just like her ridiculous rabbit hat.
Tumblr media
tl;dr: i invested way too much time crafting DEEPEST LORE about my stupid OC do not steal or recolour created solely for ToTH 2015 marketing content but she stayed with me & HEAVY WEAPONS GUY from begin2end thus I got sick with a feels

It’s been a while so have some pictures of a Gordon Freeman.
I was commissioned some time ago by Left_4_Pillz to create a Gordon Freeman model for Source Filmmaker with a Team Fortress 2 style. This was made for an animation series that he intends plans to make in the future.
The model is fully rigged complete with HWM and little extras, similar to those seen on my Miss Pauling model. If you guys want me to release this model go ahead and spam Left_4_Pillz as it’s not entirely my call :P
I may post more of Freeman here in the future as these were shots created purely to show Mr. Pillz my progress.
Cheers.

Not all of you may know this but I’m currently a part of a project known as TimeSplitters: Rewind. This project’s aim is to recreate the original TimeSplitters trilogy on PC in HD. I’m a 3D character artist whose job is to recreate the characters from the original series. I’ve done a few more than this but there are 300 characters in total, so I’ve barely scratched the surface.
If you don’t know what TimeSplitters is I suggest you check it out. It’s an amazing series of games which were a huge part of my childhood so recreating this stuff is fun as hell for me.
Stay tuned for more TS: Rewind stuff in future as well as any other modelling work I decide to show off.

I have to say, I'm very impressed :D
Lovely outfits!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m sick and whatever energy I have left should either be going to a) sleep or b) commissions.
Instead you can have experimental Miss Pauling outfits (done in my favourite dollmaker, SFM, of course) that were a product of waiting for the enhanced model of her to be released.

An hour and a half sculpt I did in Zbrush from scratch to calm myself after feeling a tad down. I used the "undo history" recorder in zbrush to make the video. Enjoy!

Need help (.PRE file conversion)
Anyone know how to convert DMX to PRE? There was a tutorial on Facepunch but it got removed. PRE are preset files that are loaded along with a model in SFM that allow you to have phoneme and emotion sliders right from the get go instead of having to manually adjust each individual flex to get the expression and mouth movement you want. If anyone has a way to get to the tutorial or knows what the program and script used to convert the DMX is, I would be very grateful if that knowledge was shared with me. Thanks!

What kind of comissions do you do? Because I'd like a custom model for sfm.... So if you do that kinda things (and if it's not as expensive as doom) I'm very interested!
I mainly do characters for commissions. Not really big on weapons or props. I can still do them I just don't enjoy it as much :P
Also I'm not sure what you perceive to be too expensive but it might be worth reading up on the subject before asking me. While I don't charge as much as most freelancers, it's a lot more money than used to buy a decent lunch.

Hey there, I've a question, I'm learning 3D modelling at the moment, mainly using Maya. i've a question regarding hair. How do you model your character's hair? Thanks
Well for TF2 stuff, I just use basic mesh hair. Typically, for more detailed/realistic characters, I'd go for alpha plane hair. "low poly hair" "Alpha hair" etc. are good search terms if you need tutorials.

How do you feel about people using your Miss Pauling model in tf2 merchandise submissions? I am making something right now that I considered submitting there but I wouldn't do it without you being ok with it.
I don't mind what you, or anybody for that matter, does with the model. As long as the right people are credited. :)
