What's going on between Juniper and Phoenix from your end? /gen curious

Something queerplatonic, although they don't have that word for it and would bite someone for asking them to use it on some sort of very stubborn principle.

They, obviously, do not get there immediately after Rising Phoenix. There's a couple months between Rising Phoenix and House Call in the little AU in my brain that will be the premise of a fic Eventually, where they're both injured and miserable after the Summit goes south and stuck alone together. Gotta figure each other out. That lets the pair of them rebuild the foundation of their relationship from scratch and makes it easier for them to see one another as actual people, and not the roles they were playing. By the time they separate for the beginning of CITM, they've built a bond of trust that allows their shared living situation after KBOOM to happen in the first place. As the months tick on with them spending their recoveries together, and not having to split up after, they end up closer than they could have thought they'd get.

Phoenix enjoys his company (especially since he's consistent, hes not going to go out on a mission and die), and Juniper eventually does realize that he likes theirs (and that he can even get close to them in the first place, since they lack the sort of... predatory, almost? obsession that anyone in Hollywood trying to get close to him tended to have). Their very specific situations lead to them managing to have a surprisingly secure relationship.

And, to me, those are two very similar people, just ones who got taken two seemingly parallel directions in life. Might be nice for them to have somebody who Gets It. Somebody who understands being someone you aren't.

Does not stop them from doing the verbal equivalent of when dogs play fight, though.

Anyways as further procrastination of my big buzzkill post about April fools I have small bits on AO3 if you so choose. Not much but.

I mean, AO3 is great for getting people who already use AO3 involved, but does not really solve the walled garden issue, since new folks have to go through the whole sign up process, which takes more time than other platforms, and it isn't really as welcoming to actual discussion, despite that being allowed on AO3, because it's become primarily an archive for writing. It also sort of isolates out the folks who do threaded RP, which iirc make up a lot of the Tumblr group.

Art sites are great, but a lot of us do in fact post fandom work and main portfolio work separate for good reason.

I also do not want to use Twitter! I don't want to use a platform that runs the way Twitter currently does. The guy who runs it is actively a Nazi. BSky is great but is just a Second Twitter in terms of functionality, and makes it harder to centralize around a topic in one location. We're going to keep running into the same issues wrt image hosting wherever we go regardless, since image hosting is expensive and a lot of newer or smaller platforms do not have it. I have in fact actively thought about what I would like to do wrt offering to open a space on another platform and picked the ones I did with that in mind.

I have a long post half written in drafts about my in depth thoughts about the IEYTD April Fools event that I will eventually get out there, but what ISN'T an April Fools event is how little I want to watch the Tumblr part of the fandom go down with the ship. I know I'm pretty quiet over here, but I don't want to see this get relegated to a walled garden forever. So. In the event that we keep getting bad news out of Tumblr about the staffing situation or the site's future, I'd be glad to start a forum or a group on SpaceHey (MySpace clone, selected for forum and group options + mobile app) and start posting to DreamWidth as a secondary platform. Just say the word and I'll get things set up.
