You know what? It’s fucking hard trying to get better. It’s exhausting managing doctors appointments, doing daily PT exercises, eating better, trying to exercise, trying to meditate, and doing ADL’s. I have had a bad crash per week trying to juggle and do all of the above.
It’s easier and less acutely painful to just coast and not actively work on ‘getting better’. Is the work worth it? I don’t know yet.
But to people who’ve tried and given up, to those who don’t even bother - you still deserve care and compassion.

How do you explain to people that part of the problem with working isn't even using falling apart car/laptop to commute to work, it's the inability to sit there and focus for 6-8 hours. The inability to not be in building pain the entire time. The fact that most days you have drastically fewer spoons than you need to do BASIC SELF CARE TASKS so you ARENT most days, and literally anything else is extra steps on top of THAT. Sure you can get the job but if you don't have clean clothes to wear bc you can't work and do laundry? Or you don't have the energy to shower?? Or things at home get so behind you can't even try to cook?

the idea that women are naturally kinder and more empathetic than men is infuriating actually.
afabs are socialized to be kinder and more empathetic. doesn't mean they inherently are. having a vagina doesn't make you nicer by default. you just get punished more if you're nasty and also afab.

the feeling when you're soooo used to your pain and then suddenly you just want to sob and cry because it never stops and you're so tired of this and with no reason your usual daily level of pain becomes unbearable and it feels like shittttt

hey. you shouldnt get mad or annoyed at someone with gastrointestinal, bowel and/or bladder problems for being in the bathroom. yes that includes if its an ‘inconvenience’ to you. you can wait to brush your teeth, someone with urgency or incontinence cant.

You are well within your right to be angry about the help you didn't get and should have gotten.
You are well within your right to be angry about having your needs neglected.

being disabled takes a lot of energy. i don't really mean like that it is necessarily fatiguing or that all disabilities are energy limiting. but rather the extra effort needed to access an inherently inaccessible world will wear on anyone even if they don't struggle with pain, fatigue, or tiredness as part of their disability

Yeah I could technically work a “full time job” with an extreme level of preparation for my mental and physical needs. But I would have to literally spend the rest of my time recovering from working all those hours, and my work life balance would be completely screwed up. I would have no time or energy to ever do anything that I truly enjoy. I am not going to push myself to the point where I am working so hard and so much that I can’t enjoy my life as a result, just because society says that I am “lazy” because I can’t consistently work 40+ hours a week.
there's disabled people out there who could probably work if they really really pushed themselves, but don't work. there's people who could probably do more housework than they can, or aren't putting out the maximum amount of effort they are able to manage. and you know what? that's great. those people don't have to wring every last drop of ability from their bodies to be allowed to have a break. or be supported. i'm so happy that there might be disabled people who got support before things were dire. i think more disabled people should get support so that less of them have to work even if they can at a push, and more of them have time to do important things. like take a nap. ameen

hey did you know??? that if you stop stretching and maintaining mobility in your body then it goes away?? things get tight and you can't move the way that you used to??? and when you decide to try getting a stretch routine going that the first week fucking sucks because you keep going 'damn i used to be able to do this no problem' and then you have to switch gears and be kind to yourself and just focus on getting better from here instead of berating yourself for dropping the good habits in the first place??? and your body never stops aging so you gotta keep taking care of it and sometimes you gotta take care of it extra in certain areas because of things that happened when you were younger and it's boring and sometimes hurts but it's so necessary???
i am yelling this at myself right now i am going through An Experience (trying to get into a routine of body maintenance again for my physical and mental health)
