I think the manga spoke for itself there x3 

But it would be the lack of a purpose? And for Michael, that was always to take down Lucifer, phrases and wordings made previously in the manga gave me a head canon for the goal to rather be lock him away or strip him off his powers for good and not to kill him. 

Traitors and enemies were always showing up and Michael seemed to only have Lucifer and his own cause in his sight for everything he did.

The heavy weight on his chest and heat under the covers woke him up. Tired eyes fluttering open and staring at the blurry lines of flower patterns carved into ceiling. When each petal finally came into focus, he gathered his strength to rid himself of the heavy blankets and push the tired limbs over the edge of the bed to sit up. 

He was still dressed in the night gown that was borrowed from the red-haired human, and it seemed like Uriel did not seem to be anywhere close for the moment. The echoing taps of bare feet on his way to the washroom hinted that he was alone in the building, a quick glance towards the mirror made him thankful of that considering his current ungraceful state. His white hair was in a tangle by the neck from the pillows, the skin flared and sweaty from the heat.

Michael cupped his hands and splashed the cooling water to his face and poured it over to his neck to dampen the tangled hair. When he peered up to the mirror through heavy and drenched eyelashes, he found himself staring at a face that was not of his own staring back through the mirror.      At least.. he thought it was not his own. The hair fell sharp around the soft face with longer strands on the front, while his own should be glued to his skin from the water and he was sure that one of his eyes had not been of the scarlet color he used to see. But when he wiped his eyes dry with the sleeve and looked up again he only found the perfect image of his own being staring back at him.

It was a surprise, the day was usually celebrated by humans but on a more different approach. This was one more similar to how humans congratulated each other, which was new for him... and it seemed silly. But he appreciated the gesture. “Thank you. Suppose I can’t expect you to pray at a church like the others.”
