Day 27 - Lorne Sausage

Day 26 - Scottish Plain Loaf
An economical way to make bread – as the loaves rise upwards – and so popular with working class, city dwelling folk. This in turn gave rise to the plain-loaf/pan-loaf way of speech – to speak in a “pan loafy voice” is to have made your voice posh, losing your city vernacular for a more refined, aspirational way of speaking.

Day 25: Chicken Tikka Masala
Ahmed Aslam Ali, owner of the Shish Mahal in Glasgow’s west end, claims to have invented the dish, after a diner during the 1970s complained about the dryness of his chicken tikka dish and the chef dumped a can of tomato soup over the top.

Day 24: Dundee Marmalade
Legend has it a Spanish ship with a lot of Seville oranges in the hold had to take refuge in Dundee harbour during the winter of 1700, and an enterprising Scot - James Keiller - bought the cargo. When the oranges proved too bitter to sell, his equally enterprising wife Mrs Keiller made marmalade of them.
