Honestly, no. We would've been less pissed if there's even an attempt because let's be real - Wuxia/Xianxia fits are not even based on actual traditional garb. They're modified to look 'cool' and THAT is fine. It's really not that hard to google 'Wuxia/Xianxia outfits' and just run with that.

The designs on that batch, however? There's not a single thought put into that. The dragon especially, it's just a shirt with a dragon slapped onto the pants and then called 'Yellow Dragon' (which, BTW, is based on the Yellow Emperor so. That's worse!). That's just plain insulting.

I have a friend, literally a non-Asian friend who draws Eastern designs and while I can't say it's 100% accurate, the EFFORT is there and that matters.

Hot take i think the problem with CS is that people don’t treat it hoe it’s supposed to be: a hobby. People get addicted or obsessed with closed species to the point where it’s unhealthy. That’s where you get most problems. If you treat it as something just to do on your free time i don’t thinks there’s too much wrong with enjoying a species or spending time in one. it’s all in how you make it

Jsyk addiction is not going “oh wait I shouldn’t be spending this money!” And just immediately stopping. Addiction isn’t something you can just get out of instantly. That’s just called realizing a bad spending practice or habit and stopping it. Addiction doesn’t just go away instantly.

What are your thoughts on people calling x species an offbrand of y species when they do not have any correlation and the only similar thing in them is one or two traits they share? But otherwise are vastly different. Like not an actual offbrand

it's asinine and only reinforces cs's terrible mindset of common themes being 'claimed' and the fear of being 'copied'

it's the same as being in kindergarten and bringing a ball to play with, but then throwing a fit anytime someone else brings a ball simply because it might be 'copying you' even if they're using it to play an entirely different game, or might be 'taking players from you' even if they don't want to use the ball the way you're using it

man i lost interest in scrugglys the moment i submitted my design to the wip check channel. i dont even care about this fucking species enough to complete the design and the way they shortened the myo time limit from 6 months to 3 months just feels so scummy. respectfully, i dont even think myos should HAVE a time limit in the first place, yes, even the free ones

same. i get it's to prevent hoarding them but all it really does is people throwing out the most soulless cookie-cutter design to immediately trade fodder and cause more work for MYO approvals in general

How, as an admin for a CS, can I break the parasocial bond? I don't like how it feels, but when I try to deflect it they complain to other admins that I'm being abrasive or mean. I'm also afraid to form real friendships within the community I help run as I don't want to be accused of favoritism or have to worry if the "friend" is just using me to gain an admin position of their own. Is there really no winning other than to leave the team? I've enjoyed it so far except for this issue.

it's definitely something to acknowledge and can be hard to deal with but i think being kind but professional can help. treat people fairly but don't let them think you'll bend things for them if they try to befriend you, or make sure to interact with others as equals, etc.

this morning I went to purchase a $100 CS design but decided that id sleep on it, this afternoon me and my cousin went to a nice restaurant and got super duper good food and counting a %15 tip it was only $60, we then went out and bought ourselves some cool stuff from a couple stores downtown and had a BLAST, got home saw the design on my laptop and deleted the tab. 1 png cost the same amount as all of that (minus the experience) and it just put everything in perspective for me tbh

fuck yeah. life is so much better when you're not grueling away under the FOMO
