today I met a new saint, St. Gemma, thanks to artwork by Angela. the death of her mother when she was only seven was devastating, but it allowed her to love Christ with "an intensity most of us could scarcely imagine." she wasn't a nun but her life was devoted to prayer and simplicity. it makes me feel so lame, man, lol. like, my life is spent just scrolling my phone, being in a kind of stupor, and I can barely spend just 10 minutes with the Lord in adoration. but the saints aren't merely there for us to feel guilty and chastised for being such lazy and unholy losers. they can also inspire us to love Christ and our neighbors, particularly the poor, much more deeply.

if it really is as simple as carving out specific prayer times and reading the Bible, then I don't have an excuse not to.

Saint Gemma, please pray for me and all of us.

aaron_pierre1: In September 2024, my tendon completely detached from the bone. This injury required surgery. I was cast as John Stewart in October 2024. Production was set to commence February 2025. Here is a little insight into my road to recovery, which happened to align with my journey to becoming John Stewart. If nothing else, I hope this can inspire. Prayer to Accept Suffering

Dear God, my Father, I join the angels and saints in adoring You today, for You are mercy itself, and You are my hiding place, O God. You have assured me that You will never leave me nor forsake me. Dear Lord, I am going through a very difficult time right now. You know what I'm suffering Lord, and I really need Your help to bear it.

Lord Jesus, You accepted Your cross, and died upon it, to build a bridge between heaven and earth for us, so we could be saved. You showed us that God suffers with us, and that His love transforms human suffering. You allow us to join You in carrying Your cross in our afflictions - spiritual, emotional, physical, or any other type.

You are the God of all encouragement, who encourages us in our every affliction, so that we may be able to encourage those who are in any affliction. O Lord, I wish to partake in the saving work of Christ. As I walk by faith, and not by sight, I ask the intercession of Our Blessed Mother and all the saints, to pray for me that I will be faithful in sharing this suffering with Christ and so come to His Resurrection. I offer my suffering to You for the sake of our world, that many will come to salvation and peace. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
