Cyberfei is an Urban Fantasy sandbox world surrounding the concept of a Eutopian future in which the fae have revealed their existence and demand equal standing with humans. This blog contains meta and inspiration to introduce you to the sandbox -- please see our other social medias and links for more detail, and our ask is always open!

The Uprising: A General Timeline
While the response and process of the Uprising was different from country to country, organised efforts behind the scenes meant many of the major events that created the Cyberfei world as we know it were relatively synchronous.
The Initial Uprising (pre-Broadcast)
For a month before the New Year of 2015,
strange phenomena: dancing lights in the sky, rapid overgrowth
marked, rapid increase in climate activism worldwide
static in the air, some practicing witches may notice more tangible results to their spellcraft
The Broadcast
The elves reveal their existence to the world through a series of political broadcasts
These broadcasts follow a similar script and interrupt all broadcasting frequencies, including radio
Worldwide governments are given 6 months to come to a decision on negotiating for elven rights
The Voting Period (0-6 Months Post-Broadcast)
Groups of pro-fae and anti-fae begin to pop up in the form of online circles and street protesters.
In secret, with the help of some fae who were against the broadcast, anti-fae groups develop anti-fae weaponry as backup defense in case of violence.
In places where the vote passes or governments make a positive decision, Alliance negotiations begin.
In places where the pro-fae vote doesn't pass in many, widespread protests and riots begin.
The Cleansing/The Uprising (6-12 Months Post-Broadcast)
Major anti-fae groups retaliate to the protests with violence while some fae groups forceably take over sections of cities, causing panic and the beginning of war.
Major cities in anti-fae areas are evacuated and ravaged by civil war
Following the heavy spike of magic activity, the first Thaumaturgists begin popping up.
Factions are becoming more organised, and the Cleansed are officially named as such.
Village Skylines, constructed from remains of old, existing train-lines, are constructed to allow free access in and out of cities.
In vote-passed areas, now known as the Alliance, fae presence is beginning to be fully established.
Faction Forming (1 Year to 1.5 Years PB)
Though private and scattered due to conflict, trading systems are now fully established
Credits are a fullt established currency in Alliance cities and physical money is phased out
Rebellion and Resistance are now recognised political ideologies, though still disorganised
Magic-Technology is quickly becoming more widespread, often used in trading
The Magic-Industrial Revolution (1.5 Years to 2 Years PB)
Magic-Technology makes leaps and bounds, becoming increasingly widespread.
Major Skylines in and out of the city are complete; construction begins on inner-city Skylines
Cleansed enlist Thaumaturgists to construct their cities
Anti-fae air purifiers erected inside Cleansed territories, keeping the air clear enough to breathe while keeping Fae out
Cleansed barricades are now fully-erected walls
Yvolution. and Rebeltech are founded, beginning widespread magic-tech distribution
Cleansed cities are purged and rebuilding begins
2 Years PB
The Uprising has settled to smaller conflicts, no longer a full civil war
All primary factions are fully established, named and organised
The Uprising itself is considered over, though the conflict is not
Extras (as of creating this post)
4 Years PB
Cleansed cities fully rebuilt with fae and plant life entirely eradicated within them
7 Years PB
The world has settled into the Cyberfei Eutopia. Places ravaged by war are now surviving a dystopian war against the Cleansed and places with Alliances are fully established.
The first Scrapper clans are formed, populated by those who were very young children pre-Uprising
9 Years PB
Pink Elves of Chernobyl reveal themselves to public knowledge and Scrapper activists begin work helping them clean up and reconstruct

The motivation behind building Cyberfei
I've been writing For Ever, and Cyberfei is my most recent baby. It was conjured from a particularly vivid dream I had about the city of London as I know it, only it was overrun by nature and trains, which took me through quarantine, and out to a village populated entirely by goths. It was rudimentary and nonsensical but the idea bugged me ever since, so here I am! I have a passion for big, sprawling worlds and worldbuilding, and I love the communities that grow around them, so my motivation for Cyberfei is just that -- to create a community of people just as passionate about worldbuilding and fantasy as I am! -Overseer Khasta
The goal of the project
Eventually I hope this place is big and fleshed out enough that people can start using the world for their own stories, TTRPG sessions, novels, etc!
Cyberfei's Unique Selling point
The main thing that makes the Cyberfei world special is how expansive it is! There's potential for all kinds of writing styles and genres within the world, from Cyberpunk/sci-fi inclined to the fantasy end of things, to the more optimistic Solarpunk -- there's so much to do and build that anyone can find something to work on!
Genre
The primary genre of Cyberfei is Urban Fantasy, with Solarpunk and Cyberpunk elements. Due to the wide and diverse nature of the world, some areas lean more heavily into one aspect of the genres than others and thus the actual genre of the world is hard to pin down to an exact element.
Reader Experience
The primary feeling of the Cyberfei world is wonder with a sprinkle of hope. Readers, players, etc. will be in awe at the technology, the magic, the diversity -- and a little afraid of the unknown shadows that lie above and below; though always knowing there is light on the horizon.
Reader Tone
Cyberfei is always described as a Eutopia. The brightness of utopia, with hope and nature and beauty, offset by the darkness and conflict of dystopia -- a realistic, balanced world where nothing is perfect but everything is beautiful.

What Is Cyberfei?
Cyberfei is an original sandbox world created by Raven Elliot O'Connor. To get involved, or speak with the creator directly, join the Discord.
In the not-so-distant future, the world is ravaged by conflict. After a fateful meeting within the Elven Council, faekind rose from the shadows of the world; from the secrecy they had so long upheld. They demanded audience with the worlds' powers. Demanded rights and say in the decisions that would shape the world. And humanity fought back against these new invaders.
Some forged the terms of an Alliance , seeing the benefit of these new and ancient citizens. Others denied the rights and power these fae demanded, and so sparked civil war.
There were those, dubbed the Cleansed, who wished to eradicate the fae altogether. These people held such positions of power, within governments and major corporations, that the citizens were powerless to stop them building fae-less cities and walling off resources and aid against them.
Those who fought the Cleansed for fae equality were named the Rebellion. They fight to regain their homes and their cities from the Cleansed who have taken them, and work with refugees from the Cleansed to build a better life despite them.
Then there are the Resistance. Those who hate the fae and the Cleansed in equal quantities, determined to drive both from their homes altogether and end this war.
Who will you side with? Or will you create your own faction in this new mess of a world? Stick with us and find out where you stand...

How Does This Work? Cyberfei Rules of Participation
While the Cyberfei world is an open sandbox and we wish all to have fun, there are some general guidelines that we recommend you follow to keep the space cohesive and make sure all voices are heard and all stories flow adequately.
⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⊰⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⋅•⋅∙∘☽༓☾∘∙•⋅⋅⋅•⋅⋅⊰⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⋅•⋅
The Cyberfei universe is set within altered present/futuristic genres. Assume the world as we know it remained the same pre-Uprising (circa 2015), save for the secret fae societies.
Following from above: try to keep within genres such as: Cyberpunk, Solar/Lunarpunk, Urban Fantasy, Magipunk, etc. Genres that rely too heavily on altered history (such as Steampunk) are not cohesive with the genre for example.
Avoid discrimination within your art. This includes racist fantasy tropes: "black" magic is not canon, for example. Please consult the lore for further information, and ask an admin if you are uncertain.
The Overseer's word is final. If your work is not accepted as canon, kicking up a stink will not help you. If you genuinely feel a decision is unfair, please bring it up civilly with the admins
⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⊰⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⋅•⋅∙∘☽༓☾∘∙•⋅⋅⋅•⋅⋅⊰⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⋅•⋅
In a big project like this, the last thing we want is imbalance. As Overseer I don’t want to take away your agency and creative control, but I also don’t want this to become a mess of contradictory ideas.
To attempt to combat both of these outcomes, Cyberfei adopts a “Layers of Lore” technique.

PERSONAL LORE
Right at the base of the pyramid, making up the majority of what will be created as people start to roll in and get involved, is Personal Lore.
Personal Lore is anything you come up with. Original characters, concepts, etc. -- anything you personally create whether or not it has been accepted as canon.
Put simply, if Cyberfei is a sandbox, Personal Lore is your sandcastle for you to do with as you will, non-commercially.
INDIE LORE
If you should decide that you wish your Personal Lore to be accepted into Cyberfei canon while still maintaining creative control, that lore becomes Indie Lore.
When Personal Lore becomes Indie Lore you agree that anyone may use this lore in their own Personal Lore. All Indie Lore must be discussed with the Overseer’s Office before being made canon.*
If someone else wishes to make their Personal Lore canon and it contains your Indie Lore, they must discuss it with you first before it is passed to the Overseer’s Office.
GROUP LORE
The sand at the bottom of the sandbox is the Group Lore. This is the baseline canon of the Cyberfei universe and anything you create will be using this lore.
Group Lore is primarily created by the Overseer, but anyone can submit their lore to be a part of it. Group Lore does not belong to any one creator.
In submitting work to be Group Lore, you are relinquishing creative control to the wider community. Anyone, including the Overseer, will be able to use, tweak and discuss this lore as they wish. Personal Lore and Indie Lore can be created from your Group Lore without need to consult you.
All lore to be passed into Group Lore must be discussed with the Overseer.
*NB: The creator team can ONLY suggest corrections and tweaks to fit with wider canon. We cannot and should not take control in a way that breaks your canon or takes away your creative control. We are to work with you and just as you would be expected to be respectful and work with us, we should also be respectful of you. If you believe any creator is treating you unfairly, please bring it up with a moderator, even if it's the Overseer.
