Deeply deeply in love with folks who exist on the outskirts of queer identity while simultaneously embodying their queerness in every piece of art they create

Folks who maybe don’t transition in a traditional sense but identify heavily with queerness and live authentically in a way that cannot be defined by cis heteronormativity

People who are just unabashedly queer and don’t feel like they have to prove shit to anyone-

Call them whatever the fuck you want, it can’t detract from what they’ve done to subvert cishet expectations and it sure as fuck won’t make them lose any sleep

Lynn Breedlove and Gerard Way are my two first artists that come to mind

They’ve made insane leaps and bounds for the queer community in multiple intersecting ways and in ways where labels don’t even particularly make sense for them- they rejected so many labels and pushed forward in spite of and with love for their nonconformity-

yeah, exactly. forcing labels upon other people is so strange to me. we use labels as a help to describe complex concepts, such as gender and sexuality. your perception of your own identity is highly individual, you just pick a label that fits the best (if you want to. in a perfect world we wouldn’t need any labels, but they make things easier in a heteronormative society). it doesn‘t have to be understood by anyone else besides you.

it irks me the most when fellow queer people feel the need to invalidate a queer person‘s identity because „it doesn‘t make sense“. labels don’t have to make sense, definitions are just words to describe something really specific, but they‘re flawed and don‘t always fit an individual‘s personal experience. as a queer person you should sympathize and understand that.

I wish people would view queerness as what it is - a lived experience - rather than something that needs to be described in words. fighting over validity online is pointless and what label someone uses to describe themselves shouldn’t concern you. just go outside and surround yourself with fellow queers.
