BACKGROUND.

Born in 13 June 1997, Lee Seol is the one and only precious daughter to her parents. Since birth, Lee Seol doesn’t like being the same with the others. Being the only child make the person bratty, spoiled, and dependent? Then she would do everything to change the stereotype. She likes to be different.

She was spoiled since birth as the only child, especially she is a girl. She didn’t like it. When she went to her school and saw kids held their own bags instead of their mothers, Lee Seol asked her mother to give her the backpack.

“But it’s heavy, dear,” her mom said.

“I want to hold it myself!” Lee Seol whined and pulled her backpack off from her mother’s shoulder.

It started off with bringing her own things, but as she grew up, she started to think if she could do it by herself, then she didn’t need to ask for help.

Every time she faced a problem, she tried to solve it by herself. She didn’t tell her parents nor ask for their suggestion. So what would happen if it was on her puberty? She became distant with her own parents.

Every time she went out, they asked “Where are you going?” she would just answer with “With friends” and then walked out from the house without explaining furthermore. When she went back, they would ask “Where were you going?” and she just went straight into her room.

At first, her parents would keep bugging her until she answered their questions, even though Lee Seol would turn very sour and grumpy, but after years, they just gave up. She wasn’t sure whether she gave up or finally trusted her.

INTERVIEW.

1. what do you do for a living??

“Honestly, these days, people work more effective when they come and leave the office as they want right? They can stay more if they haven’t finished yet and they can leave earlier if they are finished. They can come late and go home late if they are night person or they can come early and go home early if they are morning person.”

2. how and where do you see yourself being in 5 years??

“It’s hard to win my heart, you know.”

“They actually don’t really care whether you’re in the upper or lower class. All you just to do is show your own price from the way you dress up.”

4. how do you feel about where you personally fit in the social hierarchy of the town and what are your intentions because of this??

“Use your energy wisely - use it to fit to every situation that is given, no to change the situation itself.”

“World domination? Just kidding. Just staying like this, having enough money to eat, pay electricity and water, and buy trivia things is enough for a girl that doesn’t really have dream and just goes with the flow.”

BACKGROUND.

kinam got lucky. at least that’s what it felt like while he was growing up. he wasn’t necessarily rich nor excelling when it came to academics but he had a great set of features and that seemed to be enough for the rich and powerful to accept him as one of their own. and kinam, being as young and desperate for affirmation as he was, didn’t question it once. instead he soared under their protection, smiles growing a little more confident with words dripping in charm and deceit as he speaks.

turns out kinam was the biggest trickster of them all. he was a carefully edited version of himself when he was around his friends, one he knew would appeal to them more than the one that was hidden beneath the layers and layers of pretend. see, kinam positioned himself as a mysterious individual. he tried to play hard to get to mask his complete lack of interest in girls. it was boys that he was drawn to, that excited him, but that was not what was expected of him. it was not the role they wanted him to play.

he plays the part a little too well. his cold and distant behavior makes him even more desirable and girls flock to him like children at the zoo. they fight for his attention and kinam gives them just enough to keep the fantasy alive. still there is one person that sees through it all, someone who knows all the tells because he spent years perfecting them himself.

while kinam knows he should fear him and the power he now holds over him, he finds love instead. what had started as a quick adventure in the locker room after gym class bloomed into something more. it was a relationship that needed to stay hidden under all circumstances but kinam can’t say he minded. at least he got to experience his first times just like every other teenager his age.

it was s at age eighteen that kinam’s views on society were questioned in a rather unfortunate play of events. the senior class had rented a house out of the city to celebrate the nearing end of the school year. it had been planned with the purest intention, an opportunity for the seniors to make a few more memories together before they all had to part their ways, little did they know it would turn into a huge nightmare for some.

up until this day, kinam still doesn’t know who was responsible for the overdose. all he knew is that his name, as well as those of his friends, had conveniently disappeared off the list of those who had been present on that particular night. just like all of the other rich parents, kinam’s boyfriend’s parents had paid the police to erase their attendance by claiming they had taken off to another part of town. it was his first time experiencing how easily corrupted the officials are but kinam doesn’t dare complaining, knowing it would get both himself and the man he loved in huge trouble. so, he shuts his mouth instead but the guilt eats away at him on the inside. The newly found piece of truth does not sit with him well and it’s only a matter of time until the secrecy and the suffocating feeling of being indebted drives the pair apart.

be the change you want to see in the world, is the mindset kinam adopts himself as he applies to the police academy. he’s seen injustice and kinam has taken it upon himself to correct it.

it’s been a couple of years since kinam graduated the academy but the more he sees and learns the more he questions his own abilities to be a positive influence on the force. it is corrupted and bent, the temptation of just taking the money over doing hours of pointless administrative work growing with every passing day. guess the question is how long it will take until kinam gives in?

INTERVIEW.

1. what do you do for a living?? e.g. student, full time work, part time, etc.

“i am an officer of the law.”

2. how and where do you see yourself being in 5 years?? e.g. career wise, financially, relationship and connections wise.

“in five years, i’m hoping to finally be promoted to a detective. don’t get me wrong, being out on the streets is just as rewarding but it’s not why I joined the force. I like to believe I have something more to offer.” kinam hesitates whether or not he should answer the second part of the question as well, grown accustomed to keeping that part of his life private at all times. “a relationship would be nice as well but experience has taught me that police officers aren’t exactly favorable on the market.”

3. where do you fall on daegu’s societal hierarchy spectrum?? e.g. are you one of the upper class wealthy types or the lower class ‘underground’ type and how has this affected your attitude towards the hierarchy of the town??

“i have always fallen somewhere on the middle of the spectrum. i’m in no position to complain since i never had to struggle. my family has always been able to live comfortably but it was only after starting my job that i realized the kind of effects it had on the less fortunate.”

4. how do you feel about where you personally fit in the social hierarchy of the town and what are your intentions because of this?? e.g. do you aim to create a more equal, modern system for all citizens or are you quite happy with how the situation stands between the wealthy and the lesser off??

“something obviously needs to change but there is only so much I can do as an officer of the law. it’s my job to abide to the law and make sure the public does as well. Iitry to be as fair as i can be while on the job but my first priority will always be the public’s safety so when it comes to actual conflict there is little i can do but diffuse the situation.”

5. what are your goals and aspirations for the future??

“happiness, justice, love… you know, all the clichés a human could possibly wish for.”

born to a long line of professional athletes / olympians who eventually settled down in georgia.

her father was a weight lifter while her mom was a gymnast. she’s the youngest of five ( 5 ) and each one of them were thrown straight into a sport upon becoming old enough. normally, their parents had a habit of letting them bounce around and try new things until one stuck and then they’d pile-drive it into their being so they did nothing but eat, sleep, and breathe that sport.

for tori, volleyball was hers and she fell in love with every aspect of it. the training, practices, games, hard work and everything else that came with it were nothing she wasn’t willing to put into the sport.

however, the pressure that came along with coming from a family slap full of top tier athletes suddenly became too much. she was expected to be the very best, the first in everything, and slowly, she deteriorated under the heavy weight of expectations. especially because, by this time, she was beginning to realise her sexuality which added more stress until she simply couldn’t take it anymore.

looking for an escape, she began drinking. she was underage, but she was slick, until the press caught up with her and, not only ran a story about her partaking in underage drinking, but they also included the fact that she was “more than friendly” with another woman who happened to be on the team.

with a big scandal and being forced to come out, the professional woman’s volleyball league pulled out from taking her on as a member. because of this, she was also ostracised from her family and transferred to seoul in order to be near her ( favorite ) brother — and to let the heat die down a bit. however, post graduation, rather than trying to go back home, she simply decided to stay close to the family she knew she had and settled in daegu.

INTERVIEW.

1. what do you do for a living?? e.g. student, full time work, part time, etc.

“i work from home for the most part… have you ever seen the drama ‘flower boys next door’? i’m dokmi —— basically, i’m a book editor. my brother was also able to pull some strings with a friend of his, though, and get me in to coach some high school volleyball.“

2. how and where do you see yourself being in 5 years?? e.g. career wise, financially, relationship and connections wise.

“good question. i’ll be thirty… i’d still like to be working with volleyball somehow. i wouldn’t mind getting back into playing it, but only for fun. i kinda like what i do as a regular job, so i wouldn’t mind if i was still doing that. i’d like to be able to confront my parents and the rest of the family again; the last time we ‘spoke’ it was nothing but lots of screaming and degrading bull. i also wouldn’t mind being in a relationship, but i never actively look for those things, so who knows.”

3. where do you fall on daegu’s societal hierarchy spectrum?? e.g. are you one of the upper class wealthy types or the lower class ‘underground’ type and how has this affected your attitude towards the hierarchy of the town??

“i’m middle class. because i’m multilingual, i have more editing opportunities, so i make a pretty decent living. well, enough to pay for me, anyway. and as much as i think equality is important and should be a thing that exists everywhere, i’m also not naive enough to believe i’ll ever see it happen. not to the level it should be. i mean, look at the history of people all over the place? we’ve made some progress, sure, but not as much as we should have given how much time has passed.”

4. how do you feel about where you personally fit in the social hierarchy of the town and what are your intentions because of this?? e.g. do you aim to create a more equal, modern system for all citizens or are you quite happy with how the situation stands between the wealthy and the lesser off??

“i think i’m nothing but background noise. i don’t make enough to be considered, but i make too much to be stomped on. basically, i’m in a relatively comfortable position. and i don’t aim to create much of anything, but i’m also not happy with how things are.”

“continue living my truth and being the best me i can be, i guess. what else is there?”

BACKGROUND.

Bin was born in china, and that’s where he spent the first five years of his life, until his parents went bankrupt and moved to Korea in search of a better life. They didn’t get it though, and a little over a year later, bin was dropped off in front of an orphanage without  any explanation. He’d always been a little bit of a reserved kid, but after that he closed himself up even more, dedicated most of his time to school and taking apart toys only so he could build them back up again. He got lucky though, because at 13, well after he had given up hope, Bin got adopted into the most loving family, who always made sure he was loved and had everything he could ever want, and despite being closed and reserved, he always made sure he was showing it right back, and that he didn’t get in any trouble for them. That being said, he was always super interested in tinkering and messing with things, so from a very young age he started doing little jobs and saving up his money so that when he got enough (way before the legal age for it), he could buy himself a motorbike, which he still owns and cherishes and keeps adding things to and working on. It was with that bike and the help of a few of some of his old foster siblings that he started underground racing - and winning. Again, he started saving up to get his own car, and soon after, he could afford one, adding underground car racing to his repertoire.

Bin is really laid back, but he won’t let anyone he cares about get stepped on. He can be super overprotective  and go above and beyond if he thinks an injustice is being committed. He stays in shape a lot, speaks english, mandarin, japanese and korean, he boxes and he loves solving puzzles, of any kind (including people).

INTERVIEW.

“I work as a mechanic. (and underground racing)”

2. how and where do you see yourself being in 5 years?? e.g. career wise, financially, relationship and connections wise.

“Probably the same place I am at right now? Maybe a better housing situation? I’d love to live on a penthouse, but I’m not sure that’s a 5 year plan, probably longer.”

“Underground, I would say, even though I do make more than enough money to get by right now, that’s where it comes from, and that’s where I want to stay.”

“I think people can change their lives around if they really want to, but it’s very hard to get out of the underground once one’s established themselves here, so I doubt there’s much that can be done do change the way things are.”

“I don’t know that I have any proper goals? I want to make sure my parents are doing well, and that they can live comfortably if and when they want to retire.”

BACKGROUND.

thirteen years old and afraid, he remembers running. running for so long and never stopping. he remembers the screaming, the pushing and the cries. he remembers being forced from his home, holding onto his brothers and sisters for dear life as their parents pulled them apart. his father had no history of being kind, but cruel he never was until this moment. learning of his mother’s infidelity with their- no- her youngest child, he wanted nothing to do with the both of them. yuki remembers the screaming, the pushing and the cries until there was only silent sobs left. they ran, ran for so long and never stopped. he figured his mother never wanted to stop, not even country borders would stop her.

he remembers meeting his new family, the homeless underground of deagu. fourteen years old and he learned to harness the fear, to use it. deep in the underground there were no means of income, barely any shelter. there was only family, and fighting for it. he remembers his training and losing the first few fights, but then getting stronger. he never stopped being afraid, he never stopped being angry, but he learned to harness it into his body and use it to destroy. yuki was good at it, it scared his mother how good he was.

twenty-five years old and he knows hatred, he knows anger. it’s what makes him. the underground fighting ring is his home, his sanctuary, his family. what little is left of his heart belongs there. that being said, the place is a recipe for explosion. over the years, yuki’s anger has gotten the hold over him. it slips more and more out of his control with every loss, every threat, and he feels himself ready to burst. twenty-five and alone, with only his underground family and a mother becoming weaker by the year, he gets by on having casual sex and charming strangers for fun. he lives on bets and victory wins.

through charming smiles, winks, cuts, bruises, dragon tattoos, disheveled hair and that worn leather jacket that he adores so much, he knows he has more than he could ever have wished for. but he also wonders, ‘will i ever be happy’?

"does this go on record cos i got a lot to lose here? okay, sure, whatever. i’m a fighter, underground. one of the best, actually the best, as some would say. nothing else, just that. i’m also a full-time asshole, too, and let me tell you, i love my job.”

“same place as i’m in now if i don’t get caught and imprisoned in the next five years. which, to be honest, seems pretty likely.”

“i live underground, it’s my home and my family. i might not have money or a good place to stay but i have that. i guess i’m jealous sometimes of the princes and princesses of this place but i can’t help but wonder if they’re actually happy.”

that’s a great question !! i think both would be lovely to see around here and i’d love to have both... but i do love me some tattoo artists. members, do you have a preference as to which one you’d like to see ?
