First of all I will say as someone who has successfully reverse engineered this man I will explain that Siegfried's lack of chest armor is not due to "fanservice" or whatnot. Yeah fanservice is more of a bonus credit than an actual justifiable reason.
Impervious to damage is a reason. But there is more than just that.
In the summer event Siegfried mentions "overworking the poor AC" now he isn't really one to complain and no one else really mentions that. There is an implication that his body runs hotter than normal, as a result of bathing in dragon's blood. Dragons => fire => warmth. It makes sense from this angle.
Secondly

Siegfried had a chestplate before slaying Fafnir.
This is a critical detail. He lost the chestplate in this specific battle. It is not a fanservice thing, but if your body runs hot, you are invulnerable, and you lost the chestplate in battle too? Then why would you wear a chestplate.
You do not see this in female fighters lacking armor.
There's also the iconic marking on his chest but I feel like it doesn't justify the chestplate loss enough.
Much of Siegfried's fanservice is due to camera angles in Apocrypha more than the design itself.
The only critique I will say about his design...
Too thin eyebrows
In some arts, legs are too skinny.
Weight is understated in FGO bios. (Not the worst in Fate, but 80 kg is too low for a 190 cm tall medieval warrior who fights with big sword)
As for the issue with the color palette not standing out, my counter argument is that he has no clear color palette. Which actually makes him stand out even more.... (One meme: Virgin Sigurd vs Chad Siegfried. Made fun of this lol)
and busy design? It's just Konoe's artstyle lol
That is it. That is just my opinion and a few facts to back it up. ;)
Number 6 is everyone’s favorite scalie, Siegfried! From the German epic Nibelungenlied, he is a dragon slayer who bathed in the blood of the mighty dragon Fafnir, gaining invincible skin (save for one spot on his back). He made his first appearance in Fate/Apocrypha, and his return in Grand Order.
Siegfried’s initial design is cool. The color scheme is subdued, which makes it pleasant to take in, but unfortunately, there is a lot going on, and it’s a bit hard to tell what you are supposed to focus on. I have to admit, until doing this project, I had never actually gotten a good look at Siegfried’s clothing. The glowing power tattoo on his chest really draws the eyes, and makes you focus on the upper half, namely his pauldrons, cape, and fluffy hair. You can tell right away he is some sort of warrior though, with his mighty sword, and large shoulder armor. Like the Servant before him, he is lacking armor in a lot of vital places, but this is only the first ascension, and he does have some armor, so we will let it slide for now.
The second ascension increases the armor- he is given some spiky gauntlets which are somewhat reminiscent of the spiny scales of a lizard, and much larger and now more ornate pauldrons, as well as a bit of armor to protect his thighs. The base design as not changed, retaining the same color scheme and busyness, and his chest is still exposed. The added shoulder armor does draw the eyes more though, and gives a stronger sense that this is where we are meant to be looking.
The final ascension has no more armor to add, instead giving Siegfried a set of horns, a tail, and some dragon wings, the power of Fafnir’s blood culminating not only in invincibility, but in an outwardly draconic appearance. The dragon slayer and the dragon are now one in the same, and the spiny-looking scales of his tail and wings fit in well with his armor.
Let’s break this down now.
The Good:
Armor designs are unique and appealing
Gains armor as he ascends
Says something about the character (Warrior, related to dragons)
The Bad:
Design is busy
Color scheme doesn’t stand out
Now is as good a time as any to talk about double standards in armor design and fanservice. I want to be as fair as possible in this, but I do think it’s important to address the fact that there is usually a pretty big difference between what constitutes as fanservice on a male character vs a female character. Siegfried has vital areas uncovered, and his chest is blatantly exposed.
You could use the argument that his skin is impervious to damage, so armor isn’t necessary, but that is a similar argument that is used to justify female characters running around the battlefield in lingerie. It is an argument that ignores the fact that the characters do not actually have the agency to choose their own attire, and that it is chosen for them by their creators, whose intentions are often just to showcase what they find attractive (or what they think others will find attractive), while relying on in-universe excuses they made up in order to justify their decisions.
However, in a series that prioritizes showing off sexy female characters, having male characters who seem like an attempt to appeal to people who like men is nice to see now and then. In terms of defense, Siegfried’s armor is not great, and not much; it leaves a lot exposed, and even with his impenetrable skin he still has a weak spot, so covering his back (and maybe the rest of his torso so no one catches onto where his weakpoint is) might be a good idea, at least before his third ascension where the wings come out and make it difficult to wear plate. But, in terms of Sexy Game With Sexy People, Siegfried’s design is pretty nice. The color scheme and design of the actual clothes leaves a bit to be desired, but they had the right idea with pretty much everything else.
I would give Siegfried a 7/10. There’s a lot of good to his design, but it does have room for tweaks and improvement to make it a more solid and memorable design in terms of clothing/armor. 7/10, good drago, would pet.
Starting next week, I will be using a random number generator to select which Servant will be getting their review! Special thanks to the anon who suggested that idea! I think it will make the process a bit more exciting for me and everyone else too. I’ll see you next sunday!

If 342 is Iida, can anyone be Iida?
I see y'all putting pictures of the 342 downgrade and calling it Iida, even lumping it with actual pictures of Tenya Iida.
In protest of MHA chapters 342 and 386, MHA season 7, and the new MHA movie, I've done a social experiment in which I have inserted images of Tenya Iida into a thread, and then snuck in another character. In the thread, I talked about how much I loved Tenya Iida.
If someone replied "That's (insert character here)" I will say "No, it's Iida! These are all pictures of Iida!"
Funny enough, it kinda works. The posts do get traction and the replies sometimes are as if it's only pictures of Tenya Iida, akin to when 342 is inserted.
But does it make the 342bros wake up or do they not understand the point and continue their shenanigans... I guess we'll never know.
First time I tried this was with 3 pictures of Tenya Iida and one picture of Pomni from the Amazing Digital Circus. The post actually worked.
The second time was not exactly this case, but I inserted a random photo of Siegfried from Fate series with a caption relating to Iida.
With that being said....

IIDA! IT'S IIDA! I LOVE IIDA!

LB6.5 Traum Spoilers
Lostbelt 6.5 Traum Theory: Siegfried is not real
I could be biased, because this relates to one of the twists in the episode, and how I do not wish it was real. If that makes sense.
My Theory: The Siegfried shown to reunite with Kriemhild is not real.
Evidence:
1. Siegfried has no memory of being helpful to Master. Despite that he has in MULTIPLE times. There is also no memory he has of meeting Astolfo in Apocrypha, which is what Astolfo is implied to have.
2. The way he behaves is quite strange. I get that the original promise Siegfried made to Master was that if she was alive he would fight on her side, and this original promise would still make sense if the theory was true. However, the fact that Siegfried stops calling Master "Master" and instead by name. So suddenly. It doesn't fit his character. Ironically for a character who was betrayed to be the betrayer, a Servant known to be loyal.
His favor quote "I'm told you and I fought side by side once before. I'm sorry I have no memory of it. I only hope I proved useful in that battle... At any rate, I have a favor to ask you. Once I tell you what it is...I'll understand if you decide to kill me."
Siegfried again "I... I made a mistake. And, I'm about to make another one. ...Master. No... (y/n). Kriemhild will never use her demonic sword again. The mass of magical energy the Holy Grails were providing to her is gone. Our battle consumed nearly all of it. I tried to kill her and I nearly succeeded. And now, here we are. This is exactly what we agreed to. I...hope you can forgive me. You have my gratitude for granting this foolish wish of mine."
Later. Siegfried comes close to Kriemhild and says, "Your ambitions... Your dreams... Whatever you want to call them, any hopes you had of permanently establishing this Singularity are dashed for good and all. The Holy Grailed are now in our enemy's [Master's] hands." Then to Master, "I'm sorry to surprise you. But I decided this some time ago. If Kriemhild is still alive even after we stop her...then from that moment on, I want to fight for her. ...Even if that means you and I should become enemies. Even if it should result in my own death."
In Fate/Grand Order Siegfired's "My Room" lines were all having to do with loyalty and the like. Even in Apocrypha when he was serving Gordes Musik Yggdmillennia who wasn't very friendly to him he still showed better behavior. Plus it's not like memories are always wiped because the "My Room" Siegfried voice lines clearly remember Aporcypha. In my Room, he doesn't mention anything regarding the events in Traum (but Kriemhild does) His only line about Kriemhild is as follows: "I didn't expect you to come, but... you came, Kriemhild. I don't know what to tell you... no, there's no need to say anything... Huh? 'What can be put into words is put into words.'? I see...I love you, Kriemhild...Was it inevitable that you would bring out Balmung in this exchange?''
This pattern of mood indicated in Traum is very heavily resembling that of EMIYA in the Unlimited Blade Works route, where he betrays Tohsaka to serve under Medea for his own benefit (to kill Shirou) however even then this theory is justified through EMIYA's morally grey nature and "Independent Action" which Siegfried doesn't have neither. HE EVEN CONTRADICTS HIMSELF IN THE NARRATIVE SHOWING THAT he won't rebel when in actuality he does. "Do you desire to rebel against Proper Human History?" "No."
Kreimhild said in Traum before Siegfried's appearance: "If Siegfried was summoned here, he would probably rebel against Proper Human History. I don't want him to, I want the small chance he isn't. I want him to be my enemy before I kill him." (Kriemhild was on the side against Proper Human History) and then she also says "Chaldea didn't bring him" implying that she knows that Chaldea has him.
There is also a mention of every Servant having a different Master in Traum. As of where I am in the story, there is no detail mentioned about Siegfried's Master. When he was first found he was deep in a prison, stating "I was almost expecting to be put in an eternal slumber"
Then there is a twist that Traum actually takes place in Nevada, 2019 in Area 51. The Master behind it all is a Test Subject E. This may just further reinforce the theory.
Kriemhild's line to Siegfried after beating Traum is as follows: "Gyah! Apologies. I just lost my composure. You...I mean, Lord Siegfried. No, I didn't mind. You approaching me was all according to plan... A calculated move on my part. It was all for revenge. Why the defeated look!? Cut it out, you nincompoop! And Master! Don't just stand back there and nod! Do something about this!!!" Siegfried has no new lines after beating Traum.
The Siegfried stated was essentially a fake one, which retained his personality (hence Mash’s comment about his seriousness) and how his abilities are consistent to what is established (being able to endure a B+ rank attack is indeed consistent with his Noble Phantasm Armor of Fafnir does in Fate). However, his memories were wiped and his internal values changed significantly. Essentially, he behaves exactly how Kriemhild desires, it’s as though he was programmed to do so. If this theory was true it would explain the title of the Lostbelt being “Traum” how it is German for “dream” and how it’s basically a manifestation of her desires. Considering Siegfried and Kriemhild being the only German Servants this only makes the meaning more plausible. Why wasn’t this brought up in the plot? Why didn’t Sherlock Holmes catch this? They had little time together, and the times of Siegfried behaving most suspiciously was kept hidden from Holmes.

Post Season 5 Tenya Iida fans choosing their next fixation

i put season 5 instead of season 6 on purpose, because tenya had a golden moment in s5, and also season 5 was the last animated season before MHA chapter 342 released.
MHA Season 7 and the new Demon Slayer arc coming out on the same day makes this funnier

i am very sorry
Guys… I'm very sorry. I think I'm part of a some kind of effect.
I think my trashing on 342 lead it to become more mainstream…. And I am very sorry.
In response, I will no longer post 342 not even under Tenya tags to raise awareness. Even my own posts making fun show up on Google search unironically.
As a result of this apology, I will change my methods to post actual Tenya photos over all tags even 342 and 386.
Have a boi.
