#p4 #p4g #persona 4 #persona 4 golden #hanamura yosuke #yosuke hanamura #weak when i think about early yosuke constantly living under the surveillance of the townpeople #in a way it kind of explains his reluctance in trying to connect with them (like in the magician manga) which is itself very complex #but for someone who's always on the lookout #for someone whos constantly checking his own behaviour and making sure hes not doing anything that could be perceived as negative #even if he did want to become better friends with kou and daisuke its hard to extend any trust to them #yosuke didnt understand why they were trying to be friendly with him -- to some extent i think its because he just didnt trust them #that they weren't trying to get him to relax so he would do something wrong and then inaba will have one more reason to dislike him #its an overthinking thing!!!#but with yu? he can relax a little because he doesn't expect yu to betray him in that manner.#at the end of the day #after the liquor store and the shadow yosuke incident #yosuke KNOWS that yu is someone that has his back #amd maybe that knowledge is still a little tentative because hes still unwilling to be fully honest with yu during their early friendship #but deep down he has the evidence that yu is on his side. he wants to believe that yu will continue to be on his side. :')#and this first friendship is what enables him to actually form more meaningful bonds with other people #i mean. after saki and the blowback from him trying to connect with saki.#is it any wonder that he's a bit reticent #but ah look. hes still doing that thing where he puts on an air of nonchalance and confidence and plays it off with a joke #even as it bothers him. :')#he's good with his queue

#p4 #p4g #persona 4 #persona 4 golden #hanamura yosuke #yosuke hanamura #ok i love seeing the IT gang up on him its my soft spot #but also this is the kind of scene i was talking about prev #about how dunking on your friends is itself intended to be a demonstration of your closeness #yosuke's trying to make teddie feel better about himself but then he ends off his remarks with a joke #as he tends to do to diffuse tension! by being light hearted and playful #im not sure if naoto was intentionally playing into the joke here considering how new into the team they were but rise definitely was #i think a lot of Yosuke's jokes tends to take on the tsukkomi-and-boke kind of routine.#although yosuke frequently plays the tsukkomi/straight man by calling out his friends' weird logic during comedic scenes #in this scene i think rise (and naoto)'s quick reaction is very similar a tsukkomi follow up #so its not just a matter of ribbing on yosuke but also them knowing his humour well enough to follow up #and that makes me so happy because the more tragic more isolatory thing. would be for him to he ignored entirely.#he's good with his queue

#p4 #p4g #persona 4 #persona 4 golden #hanamura yosuke #yosuke hanamura #haha the way yosuke just takes ownership of caring for his friends #i actually never recovered from this scene you know. no one else volunteered this because teddie was such an unknown #and we could say everyone else has their reasons for not doing so but.#in a way so does yosuke. hes got to go to bis parents as well and tell them to look after this new kid #and he pulls so much of his weight in caring for teddie as well. he teaches him how to get around #he teaches teddie how to live in the human world. he teaches teddie how to work #i feel like the last point is so complex because. it helps yosuke alleviate the boredom of working at Junes as well by having a friend there #but inadvertently or otherwise. hes also preparing teddie for a life when yosuke wouldnt be there anymore #(because hes moved out to go to college or whatever)#and i feel so strongly about their dynamic but also. also!! the way yosuke was the one that made this step #how he just takes responsibility for the people around him without need for praise. how he cares about them.#he's good with his queue

the ghost story scene reminded me that in yosuke’s fckn story it’s implied that he lived near gekkoukan. bc the story is abt fuuka. & he heard it from a friend who had a sister in gekkoukan. the implication here drives me insane every day. Tatsumi Port Island Yosuke.

(i don’t remember if this has ever been mentioned on here or not so sorry if this is a repeat or smthn 💀)

Oooh I have seen this theory floating around actually!! Tbh I think because gekkoukan was also a boarding school he could have just had a friend with a sister that went there, even though they lived somewhere else entirely.

Having said that, I like the idea of Yosuke potentially having lived on Tatsumi Port Island because it makes that field trip so juicy. Was he just keeping quiet about how that was the city he was from because he didn't want to answer questions about whether he was going to meet up with his friends, or have to show them around and relive memories of people who didn't care enough about him to stay in touch?? Was he looking for familiar faces in the crowd with trepidation? What if his old friends saw him and recognised him? What would they say? What if they didn't recognise him at all??? THE POTENTIAL IS WILD. I want it so badly ; ;

OKAY TO BE CLEAR everyone also has some variation of a rainbow armband

And I suspect it's intended to be based off the television's ventricular aesthetic when they enter the TV world

Yosuke has one of those too, but he also uniquely has that one special extra design where he has a full rainbow band without the black edges. And that design is placed front and centre. Like they've decided to just keep it in anyway
