#10 day at the EBC
After one and a half weeks being sick (had a strong cold) I’m back with this post. The last few days I had to help with the newsletter. I had to print specific envelopes for the ones who subscribed for the EBC newsletter. Now I’m pretty busy with putting stamps on these envelopes.
I hope I get to do another trip in the nature. Because the time I was sick there were two fall fairs and the pictures of them were so nice. I’m not exactly sure where it was but it was 4-5h away from Toronto.

#9 day at the EBC
Today I’m just going to organize the stamps for Anna, as she is gone for 3 weeks. They bought those stamps at big auctions to save some money.

#8 day at the EBC
Today I finally finished the chart for the EBC where you can see all the properties. The main purpose of that was knowing each name of the properties on the new map of their website.
In the evening I went to the CN Tower and enjoyed the amazing view over the skyline.

#7 day at the cabin
On Wednesday we we a had little breakfast and a nice talk with Emily and Tobi. Than we went to another property of the EBC to find some rattlesnakes that are in danger but eventually we couldn’t find anything except a canoe, some frogs and a lot of rocks.
As we were done with that, we went to Tim Horton's to get lunch and than we headed back to Toronto. Emily and Tobi went back to the cabin because they had some more tasks to do. On our way back I felt asleep too and I arrived at my home stay at 8pm.

#6 day at the cabin
The next, tuesday, I woke up to the smell of coffee, which Morgan had already prepared. After breakfast we drove to a place where Morgan, Robert and a bunch of other people started building a little trail through the undergrowth. So we went on finishing the trail. It was a exhausting job but as we finished the trail we got to see the beautiful lake Huron. On our way back it started to drizzle a bit. We had lunch and a coffee at the cabin and rested for a bit. Morgan and her sister Courtney went swimming in the lake and I took a ice cold shower.
Afterwards we went to the nature reserve Cyprus Lake and got to see the wonderful grotto. It was a 15min. walk and everybody was a bit tired but the view rewarded us back.
Furthermore we went to Tobermory to have dinner at the local pub. The food was good and after we finished it, we went to the local brewery to buy a gallon of beer for us. I’ve never tried canadian beer but it tasted good.
It was a full day and I slept very well in my sleeping pod. Around midnight Tobi and Emily, a bat specialist and a conservationist, arrived at the cabin but I didn’t woke up because I had my earplugs in.

#5 day at the EBC
On Monday I worked on the chart for the properties of the EBC. Because I’m not done with that task I got to work on that today as well.
In the afternoon I packed my stuff for the trip to Alvar Bay. At 7 pm Morgan and her sister picked me up at my house and than we drove to the Cabin near to the village Tobermory. It was a 3 hour drive and I felt asleep in the end but I woke up when a porcupine passed the road. That was the moment I knew we couldn’t be far away from the cabin.
When we arrived at the cabin it was already 11pm and as we packed out our stuff out off the car and prepared everything for the night, I immediately felt asleep.

#4 day at the EBC
Today I took a look at all the properties the EBC owns. They got more than 130 properties under their control. I had to create a chart where these properties are listed after their number, so that you have a better overview at these properties.
They’re so many that you get lost very easily on the map.

#3 day at the EBC
In an office there are always tasks which need to be done but no one really wants to do it. Today I thought I had to do one of these tasks. I had to organize stamps into two categories of their value; under 30ct and over 30ct. But I gotta admit as bad as this task sounds, it wasn’t bad at all. The EBC was founded in 1997 nevertheless they have a lot of stamps which are much older. I took a look at stamps that are from the 1940′s or even older than that. Although I am not even close with finishing this task I can’t wait to take a look at some architecture catalogues which need to be cleaned out.

#2 day at the EBC
Today is my 2nd work day at the EBC and it is still exciting to be here. Today I started this blog, so that the EBC gets more popular because the things they’re doing are really important. For example Morgan just told me that next week on Tuesday we’re probably going to a cabin in the woods. There we are going to document the local rattlesnakes. She also told me that they placed a camera for the whole summer somewhere near to the cabin, to document a special bat species that became extinct. So yeah, I am pretty excited about that trip.
Another great thing the EBC is doing regularly, they’re presenting themselves and their work at fall fairs around Ontario. Fall fairs are big events for local farmers to talk about their work and other stuff that has to do with agriculture. Sometimes they do fun competitions, e.g. who has cultured the biggest pumpkin or any other vegetable.
I don’t know if I have internet in the cabin but afterwards I am definitely going to post some pictures of the work and of the nature their.
