guys i miss rose tyler so much. she is literally the definition of the indomitable human spirit because no matter what happens, no matter what situation she's thrown in, she will find a way to persevere. she will find a way! she is not someone who gives up and she is not someone who goes down without a fight. GOD SHE'S JUST!!! so used to being underestimated and undervalued by people in her life that are blind to the fact that she can do so much more, that she has a place in this world besides working in the shops. that she is incredibly clever and useful. that she will not give up on the people she loves and that she's so fiercely loyal.

obviously people aren’t going to like characters but people calling rose a “bitch to the people around her” have obviously never met an actual bitch in their life. 

the whole argument that rose didn’t care about jackie or mickey or blah blah is idiotic and lacks critical analysis. rose was POOR. she’s never really been anywhere outside of her estate, she works a shit job, she has an affectionate but overbearing mother, and she does the same thing EVERY DAY. she was groomed and manipulated by her ex boyfriend which ended up with her dropping out of school, and because everyone around her was so willing to accept defeat and accustomed to a bare minimum life, no one ever pushed rose to achieve anything more. rose was plagued by feelings of inadequacy and boredom. so YES when a fucking alien man comes out of nowhere and tells her she’s fantastic she’s going to want to follow him? she’s going to want to stick by the person who is finally realizing she can do more than a flimsy store job, someone who realizes she’s clever and compassionate. YES she leaves jackie and mickey a lot without what seems to be a care, but she’s spent day after day after day with them. jackie and mickey have been with her her whole life, she wants something new! she wants to make new experiences that she will never be able to have with jackie and mickey! it doesn’t mean she doesn’t love them, or that she doesn’t appreciate what jackie did for her, she just wants to make her own life. 

also when has rose ever been anything but empathetic and understanding to those around her? it doesn’t matter if they were a fucking DALEK, she at least tried to see where they were coming from and understand their pain. the doctor was so attached to her because of how human she was, how emotional and loving she was to everything.

i never shut up about the rose novelization i know but i love it im sorry especially rose being unwilling to let the doctor explain things to her and instead trying to figure it out herself!! taking it upon herself to research and connect the dots she is So Smart she just never gets the opportunity to prove it

as much as i thought the whole rose / meta crisis life was sort of cute in empire of the wolf i really hate the way the doctor leaves him with her on the beach saying she needs her to change him and make him better ... like rose has consistently needed to be a saint like figure in men’s lives because of her compassion and affection
