abstract and modern art haters are sooo snobby like klein literally Created an entirely new pigment and then painted a canvas in a way where the brush strokes wouldn't be visible. the insinuation that people with no skill could reproduce that is so annoying because unless you are skilled at color mixing and painting you definitely couldn’t lmao

It lumbered slobberingly into sight and gropingly squeezed Its gelatinous green immensity through the black doorway into the tainted outside air of that poison city of madness. The Thing cannot be described—there is no language for such abysms of shrieking and immemorial lunacy, such eldritch contradictions of all matter, force, and cosmic order. A mountain walked or stumbled. God! What wonder that across the earth a great architect went mad, and poor Wilcox raved with fever in that telepathic instant? The Thing of the idols, the green, sticky spawn of the stars, had awaked to claim his own.
Tumblr media
My intent was the kind of image you'd see multiple variations of, plastering the walls of the room of someone whose mind is broken. Cthulhu is ineffable, so a detailed image is impossible. I'm sure that, had someone observed my creating this piece, I must have appeared quite mad.

A friend on an OFMD server was talking about Tango Maureen the other day. I read this as Mango Tureen (for those who haven't seen the show, there's a line where Stede says "Don't debase yourself for a man who hasn't a single tureen on board" which has become an in-joke catty insult), and that refused to let me go. Here is the result:

Another tattoo concept!
Originally I wanted three roses with the flag colours, but then I realised it might be better to have different flowers, especially since Sweden only has two colours. So, the final concept is:
Irish Rose
Swedish Harebell
Acadian Violet (because the flower for New Brunswick is the Violet)
However, I really mucked it up when I started out, so here is the process:
Tumblr media
Step 1: fill in the yellow
Step 2: add the white
Step 3: add blue
Wait, where will I fit the yellow for this rose--?
Shit! The rose wasn't supposed to have blue! I was thinking Acadian! Why does life not have ctrl+z???
I redrew it after having a minor arms-crossed-never-touching-pencils-again moment. Literally, threw the blue pencil.
Tumblr media
I realised partway through I should have inverted two of the Irish petals, but, it's otherwise rather nice.
Tumblr media
Then, I redrew it again, with a better formation, but I chickened out of trying to do Celtic knotwork vines connecting them, which is what I'll be telling the artist I want when I send them the picture as reference.
Tumblr media
Just to clarify, this is the original piece I was considering, just wasn't sure how to arrange the colours:

This is a concept piece for a tattoo I would like to get some day.
It's a mussel shell and sea glass. The red is VERY rare, but the other four colours are pretty common to find.
Red is special because my aunt one day was walking by herself along the beach after Mémère died, and asked kinda vaguely if her mother was watching her to help her find a piece of red glass, which she had never seen before.
She found one small piece of red glass that day, and kept it in her wallet until the day she died.

I moved apartments in the beginning of April 2018. I have no memory of attempting art the whole time I lived there.
This past February, we moved again.
Today, something small. A simple shape, to get started.

dear the person reading this,
i know you probably see a thousand posts that tell you how wonderful and important and special you are and that you are worth the fight.
i know that some of you will think, “yeah, that doesn’t include me.”
i know that some of you don’t recognise how wonderful and important and special you are.
i know because i have been there.
but i promise you that even if you don’t believe it, it is true.
you don’t have to be what the world considers smart, beautiful or funny.
you don’t have to be doing something deemed incredible or important.
you being here is a miracle all on its own.
you are you, and you are a unique and wonderful individual who is unlike everyone else on this planet.
the odds of you coming into this world are insane, but you made it.
even if all you did was wake up this morning, that is enough. that is wonderful because you are here and you are trying.
and you being here alone is wonderful and special.
please allow yourself to believe in that and to believe in yourself.
keep fighting and keep taking every day at a time and i promise you will be just fine.
we just have to keep going.

Everyone: Please dont draw at night, it makes your brain be active and youre not gonna be able to sleep! Plus, you need to rest, you work really hard on art everyday, you deserve a little break!

Made these for a friend of mine before she went on her mission. After taking the picture, I just fixed one part where I had accidentally tried to write the word Commandments on the same line as “keep my.”
The canvasses are only 2″x2″. I found them at Wal-Mart in a pack of three, and as soon as I saw them, knowing that my friend’s going-away party was the next day, I knew I had to get them and make her something. So, yeah, it was literally:
I must make something with this for my friend for tomorrow!
*messages friend* “Name two favourite scripture verses: one from the Book of Mormon, one from the Bible.”
*waits an hour for her to pick*
*works on pieces*
Two hours later:

And then, the next day, my friend pulled out the special journal she’d been gifted to use on her mission. Everyone at the farewell party wrote a message for her, yearbook-style. I guess I was feeling particularly artsy-fartsy that weekend, because I did the little drawing and turned my message into a sort-of poem.
Tumblr media
So... yeah.

This image of Garfield was the first time I didn’t completely hate my art. I was taking part in the WES program (Workplace Essential Skills) and they said so long as it wasn’t disruptive and I was still paying attention and getting work done, I could do whatever I needed to keep myself occupied while in class (I’m a kinesthetic learner, so I can’t just sit there while the teacher is talking; I need to move). I decided to try drawing a Garfield for my piece of wall tapestry we had to design for the class. I looked up a picture on my phone, and just did my best to recreate it.
