Bathroom Ballad
Toothbrushes Two-thbrushes Locks on doors are not bad If they’re not like us            We don’t have to say a word I don’t mind being mute Feel Feel Feel Teeth on lip Bristles on gum Tongue on tip Make me --- I’m putting all my eggs in one basket            Aren’t they safer that way? Toothbrushes Two-thbrushes When I look in the mirror I see you            And you’re the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen

It is unfair for me to tell you  that you are my entire world, that you alone personify each particle of dust  that defines the tangibility of this telluric life. It does you no justice to be compared to something so fixed, so limited. You are so much more. You are the destiny without a destination, the adventure with no arrival. How small, how insignificant you make this world seem, a sole planet bound to spin incessantly on the same axis, while you are the vastness of this universe, an infinity that is ever expanding. You are forever.

“And then her heart changed, or at least she understood it; and the winter passed, and the sun shone upon her.”

Good Morning
There are those mornings we wake up, hair tousled and eyes adjusting to fresh sunlight, and you ask me, "do you remember falling asleep?" I remember warmth, I remember tranquility, I remember contentment, but I can't ever seem to remember  slipping out of consciousness.
What magic are you harboring? If, one morning,  you were to ask me, "do you remember falling in love?" I would recall nothing but the transcendence. I would have no answer  for the complete suddenness, for the sudden completeness.
I will not know at which point I slipped out of reality and into you.

Autumn has left me alone to face the flurries of winter,  a hesitant leaf still clinging to the familiarity of a stale, lifeless branch. But the wind is gentle in its coaxing  as it frees me from my desperate grasp. I know not where it is taking me, but oh, how it feels to fly.

Maybe This Is What Forever Means
You insist that you could kiss me forever, but time ceases to exist the instant your lips meet mine.

Sharing Is Caring
I remain unconvinced when you tell me there is not a single commonality the two of us share because whatever it was that drove me from your mind is the very thing driving me out of mine.

The Definition of 'Price'
A smear of makeup, a synthetic injection, a surgery to redeem somatic inconveniences. We live in a world  where privilege invites the leopard to change its spots while the leper must endure his own.

I am a writer whose words stand stagnantly against a background of silence. They are no more than a eulogy  in your absence  because you were the music.

I may have said I appreciated it, but I had overlooked that this overwhelming love was perfect.

There is but one thin string  still hanging stubbornly from a distant past, attached to my neck like a noose from which I can’t be freed: You don’t love me anymore, and I do understand, but there are those rare occasions when you will look at me like that, and for those tiny instances, I truly believe  that maybe, just maybe, you still want to.

I live in a city without skylines, without man-made towers to create untrue horizons. Here, there is no definition between the sky and  the grounds on which gravity had once claimed us. There is nothing to keep us from running until, at last, we've taken flight. I live in a place with no city lights, no refuge from nightfall. Here, we allow the darkness to embrace us because we are not afraid.
