Summer Fling
Bella Ramsey X Reader
This ones a long one and from a writers block. Hope you enjoy though!
During the summer, you would waste away in the sun. Having no purpose or drive to pursue anything. On warmer days you would spend it at the lake near the cabin you and your family visited every summer. You spend your days reading and listening to music accompanied by some tanning and swimming.
On most days, it would just be you and your family, but you often sneaked off to do your own thing whenever you could. Today your family decided to visit the city nearby while you hung out at the lake. It wasn’t too warm that morning, but the water still cooled your skin down tremendously. It relaxed you while you thought about things. You’ve actually gotten more accustomed to swimming by yourself lost in thought. Your thoughts were mainly about friends, crushes, and the lack of a love life.
This wasn’t because you couldn’t date anyone or no one wanted you. You were just confused lately. You thought you had a thing for this guy a year above you, but then you started thinking about a girl in your class and she took much more of your thoughts than you would have been comfortable with at the time.
Eventually, you didn’t even care for the guy, and she only interested you more every time you thought of her. Your crush created a dilemma because you hadn’t felt this way before and she was already in a relationship . . . with the guy you had been crushing on.
Nevertheless, your crush was halted when summer came. You sat at the edge of the lake on top of a flat large rock, already changed and waiting for your hair to dry. Despite being lost in thought, your ears perk up when you hear a noise from a distance. You are struck by cautiousness and look toward the noise as it gets closer.
“Skipper! Hold on, I know you see the lake but slow down!” They say. Their voice didn’t sound threatening, but you keep your eyes focused in their direction.
A second goes by and a dog runs out from the trees. You were surprised when the dog ran directly to you and stopped at your feet panting while it looked up at you. Assuming they were a nice dog you decided to slowly and gently move your arm towards them to see if they wanted a pet. They gladly accepted and seconds later someone emerges from the same trees the dog came from. When they approached you and the dog, you observe them while quickly mentally noting a few features; tied-up hair, a leash, and a camera were the first things you took note of. They were rather short, but so were you so they were just about the same height.
“Hi, sorry that’s my dog. Hope Skipper hasn’t bothered you.” They say apologetically.
“No problem, I hope you don’t mind me petting them, though. They’re just too sweet to ignore.” You say smiling wider when Skipper’s eyes close succumbing to the relaxing scratches you give them on the head. Finally getting up, you lock eyes with the stranger.
“My names Y/N by the way.” Holding up your hand for a shake.
“Bella, nice meeting you.” They say bringing their hand up to accept your greeting.
“So are you from the UK?” You ask.
A confused expression appears on their face suddenly, “Yeah, England. How’d you know?”
You’re lips transformed into a grimace as you point at your mouth. When you do this you hope you aren’t being condescending and they catch that you’re only trying to be cheeky.
An amused chuckle emerged from them and relief washed over you. “Right, yes the accent might have given that away.”
You let out a small laugh trying to fill in any awkwardness that still lingered between you.
“I’m actually not from here either, just visiting a cabin with my family.”
“It’s beautiful out here, isn’t it. There aren’t a lot of places like this back in London so I’m just trying to enjoy it before I get back. Again, I really hope we aren’t bothering you, it’s just so nice out.”
“No problem at all, it’s actually nice seeing someone out here my age for once. Everyone seems to be much older or younger around here. Also, you’re right, it is really beautiful out here I couldn’t hoard it all to myself.” Throughout you’re conversation you begin to notice that their eyes were shifting away from you. You turn in the direction that they were looking and observe Skipper who was licking up the lake's water. “Seems like Skipper enjoy’s it too.”
Bella chuckles again and you can’t help but turn to look back at them enchanted by their voice. Boldly you tell them, “You know, I wouldn’t mind it if you and skipper wanted to come around again.” Bella quickly locks eye contact with you again before saying “Yeah, that sounds really nice actually. Do you think you’d be here tomorrow, same time?”
“Yeah, I’ll be here.”
Saying goodbye to Bella and Skipper, you decided to exchange numbers with them before they left.
The next morning you two met up at the lake again. Skipper made sure to exhaust the both of you with her favorite tennis ball as you two talked. You couldn’t really remember what you two talked about because you kept getting distracted. While you talked your eyes couldn’t help but wander. You eventually mentally scolded yourself as you were watching Bella’s arm repeatedly throw the ball around, which excited you but also left you confused.
To combat your thoughts you told them that you were going into the lake for a little swim. They enthusiastically offered to join you. Before you could even think things through they, already prepared with swim shorts on, started running into the water with skipper. You on the other hand began dressing down to your swimsuit with a blush growing on your cheeks. Undressing in front of anybody is embarrassing, but undressing in front of someone you are beginning to have feelings for added to the confusion you were feeling.
You even began folding your clothes neatly sitting them nicely on top of your backpack just so you could calm yourself after your awkward strip tease. The entire time your eyes were on the ground afraid to see Bella’s face and hoping they were solely focused on Skipper. Although, admittedly there was an ounce of you that wanted Bella to watch you. This part of you wanted them to acknowledge you at that moment. You also wonder what they thought of you then, if they thought of you at all. Your thoughts were interrupted.
“Y/N? You coming in?”
“Yeah.”
You simply say before getting up and walking into the water to join them. When you get in you do a little dive in their direction to get your hair wet in the process. The water was refreshing as it cooled your cheeks down from all the blushing. When you emerge from the water you push your hair back and notice that Bella had been watching you. Now it was their turn to feel embarrassed. To ease the tension you say, “Hey Bella.” They turn and you splash water at them jokingly.
“Hey!” They exclaimed splashing you back. This resulted in a small water fight, with Skipper in the middle trying to join in on the fun.
Eventually, you two got out of the water and dried yourselves while hanging out on the smooth boulder you sat on before meeting them yesterday.
“Today was great by the way. I was hoping we could do this again soon?” Bella asked.
“Yeah, that’d be great.”
A week passed, and you two were texting each other nonstop. Your feelings for them grew every day that went by, and you decided that you needed to figure things out with Bella before the summer ended. You spent hours the night before thinking of what to say when you’ll say it, and the infinite possibilities that could happen. You then spent the entire morning preparing the picnic and thinking things through, but by the time you reached the lake with your basket in hand, you still had no clue how to tell Bella.
Your thoughts were interrupted when Skipper runs up to you panting with a ball in their mouth.
“Hi, Skipper!”
Without hesitation, you bend down to pet her as you scanned the lake for Bella. Turns out they made it much earlier than you had. They sat on the rock looking over their shoulder to see you.
“Good morning.” You say making your way over to Bella.
“Hey, I brought you an orange.” They say lifting a small clementine from their lap.
You take the orange and sat next to them, accidentally touching their knee with yours before scooting away a bit. You begin unraveling the clementine as they start to talk.
“My trips almost over, by the way, I’ll be gone in about two weeks from now.” You nod, feeling something in your chest drop at this news.
“Back across the ocean.” You say trying to fill the conversation and disguise this new sadness unabashedly.
“Yeah. Across the ocean, much bigger than this lake.”
You both chuckle again, trying so desperately to avoid revealing how perplexed you felt that your time together is limited. Luckily the orange was peeled and you begin separating pieces for you and Bella. Passing over one piece, they thank you and place it in their mouth-you did the same.
“Oranges are the best during the summer.” They say. Agreeing with them you nod and tear off another piece for them. Handing it over to them, you’re entranced by their appearance, only heightening whatever feelings you have.
This small talk and awkward silence between you kept going for the remainder of the day. It was excruciating, but knowing they were leaving soon made you want to stay. Eventually, you two left and agreed to hang out soon again.
That night before falling asleep you convince yourself to be a little adventurous that night and tried to text them. You wanted to apologize for being so weird earlier that day and hopefully, it’d lead you to tell them about your feelings.
“Hey, I just wanted to clear things up with you about today. I’m sorry if I came off rude or standoffish, just felt weird about you leaving soon. We could talk more about it tomorrow if that’s alright with you?”
“Yeah, that’d be good with me. Also, I kinda noticed something was up, but I was more worried that I had accidentally upset you or something. Thanks for clearing it up, I’d hate it if we stopped talking.”
“Would you miss me?”
“If we didn’t talk I’d miss you tremendously. Who else is supposed to keep Skipper and I company at the lake.”
“Just using me for company are you?”
“No. If anything I’d beg you to come by if I had to. It wouldn’t be worth visiting without you.”
At this point, you were blushing and smiling harder than you had ever before. The idea of them wanting you, let alone begging for you, stirred up all the emotions you’d harbored all day. Your adrenaline and brewing confidence encourages you to finally say something a little more direct than you were usually comfortable with.
“Don’t worry, the begging won’t be necessary, I’m all yours.”
“Good. I like the sound of that. Even if it were to just be for the summer, I’d love to spend it with you.”
“What, like a summer fling?”
“I guess so if that’s what you’d like.”
“We could do that.”
“We’ll talk more about it tomorrow.”
With that, you anxiously waited for the sun to rise. Hardly getting any sleep you slowly get ready to meet up with Bella at the lake.
“Hey.” You greet them.
“Hi.” They say back.
Standing there not sure how to start the conversation a brewing awkwardness builds between you again. Finally they say, “So about last night, I don’t know how serious you were about all that.”
“Yeah, I don’t know. I just wanted to be honest with you is all.”
“Yeah. A summer fling wasn’t something I expected between us.”
“I’m sorry if this is uncomfortable, we really don’t have to. We could leave it as a dumb joke from last night. It really doesn’t have to be anything serious.”
“No.” They gently grab your wrist and with a soft expression, they look into your eyes before continuing to say, “Serious is good. I think I want it to be more than some dumb joke.”
You were now speechless that they actually felt the same.
They lean in quickly kissing you. Wanting this for so long you return the passion. Eventually pulling away when you realize what was happening.
“Wait. I don’t know, it’d get confusing, don’t you think?” You ask.
“Y/N I like you and if you want this then that’s great, but if you don’t want to be with me because you’re afraid about what things will be like when summer ends then I wouldn’t object to your rejection, I just need you to know that I’d hate to lose you. If things don’t work out then they just won’t, but I’d want to at least give things a try.” They say.
“Okay.” You say a smile involuntarily growing on your lips.
“Are you sure?”
“Only if you are.”
Smiling they kiss you again. Satisfied and reassured that this was something you also wanted.
Two weeks go by with Bella. Hanging out with them every day. One night you invite them to your family's cabin for a sleepover-concealing to your family you two were a thing. The time went by incredibly fast and you both knew it was coming to an end.
Sitting on the same rock you two met on, you and Bella were sandwiched together, your back to their chest while they held you from behind. This was how you two usually spent your afternoons, but since it’s your last day together you can’t help but feel sad.
They nuzzle their face into your neck leaving small pecks of kisses which you gladly moved your neck for easier access. With one last long kiss on your cheek, they stop and ask, “So do you think this was just some summer fling?”
“I don’t want it to be.”
“Yeah me neither. We’ll see how things go.”

Orange Hour
Bella Ramsey x Reader
A short one for this week. Some feedback or suggestions for other stories is always welcomed if you wanted to share any by the way!
Walking towards Bella’s trailer, you unravel a clementine. One hand held the orange, the other hand-multitasking-began peeling away as it held onto a second orange. It’s small volume made it easy to peel and divide, making it even easier for you to share with others.
By the time you reached Bella’s door the clementine was completely peeled. Holding the peel and oranges in one hand you used the other hand to knock. Almost instantly the door opens to a smiling Bella.
“I see my daily dose of vitamin c has finally arrived.” When they say this they bring their hands up cupping them signaling me that they wanted some.
You and Bella do this at the end of each day after filming. You two have even coined this time of your day as the ‘orange hour’. A play on words to it’s ‘golden hour’ counterpart and an attempt to mark a time of the day dedicated to each other.
Surrendering the clementine to them, you place it in their hands and they begin tearing the pieces apart in pairs.
“Lets get going or else we’ll miss it.” You say.
With this ritual you and Bella share the first orange as the both of you make your way up a nearby hill that overlooks the set, giving you a great show of the color changing sky ahead of you before the sun disappears casting a dark blue. During the ‘orange hour’ you two sit and talk about your day and anything that came to mind as you shared the remaining clementine.
“How do you always peel it in a swirl like that?” Bella asks.
“Practice, I guess. Making smaller peels are harder to carry before throwing it out, it’s also less pleasing.” You explain, your eyes fixated on the sky.
“These are good today, sweet and cold. They’re the best when they’re cold.” You nod in agreement. They truly were the best when they were straight from the fridge or a cooler, enhancing it’s taste.
“They’re even better shared.” You say handing them the last slices. They hum in response before letting out a small ‘thank you’.
Suddenly you ask, “what do you think the sky taste like?” Bella snaps their head in your direction, with a humored expression.
“What?”
“The sky, like right now. What’s it taste like?” A chuckle came from their growing smile.
“I wish I could tell you, but I haven’t tasted the sky before.” They confess. “Although, right now when it’s all orange like that, I like to think it’d taste like the oranges we just ate.”
You nod, agreeing with them. “Yeah, I always thought the sky would taste fruity too.” This garnered a laugh from them and an immediate smile from you, satisfied from hearing them enjoy your joke. “I’m serious. It’s orange, pink, red, there’s even some white from the clouds. The sky is just one gigantic lesbian flag.” They find this irresistibly funny, giggling with you.
“But it’s blue most of the day.” Bella points out.
“That’s what makes ‘orange hour’ so special,” you point at the remaining peels in between you, “The sky is blue most of the day until it smells the citrus from the clementine because it reminds her of her lover. She gets so excited and she can’t help but change colors: red, orange, pink, and white. Lastly, she tries to change her taste: a citrusy, cool, orange flavor. Then she realizes that she’d been mistaken and her lover hate’s oranges causing them to ignore the sky’s attempts completely. The sky then returns to her blue state, only now its a darker blue because she’s saddened by how little her lover likes oranges.”
After intently listening to you, Bella says “You made that up.”
“Maybe I did, but you liked it.”
They hummed in agreement. “I think it deserves a better ending. I mean, why would the sky want to taste like an orange? You know, if her lover hates it so much.”
“They taste good, she can’t help it. I think I’d want to taste like a clementine.” Impulsively confessing trying to be funny.
A snort emerges from Bella, making you realize the accidental innuendo you made.
“Not like that. I meant like if someone were to kiss me.” You looked down at your shoes blushing, hoping to avoid eye contact.
A silence brew as you waited for their response, and you get nervous hoping you hadn’t just embarrassed yourself any further with your honesty. Your anxiety from the quiet was soon overcome by curiosity, wanting to see their reaction. Moving your eyes toward Bella’s face you see them looking right back at you. Their expression had a hint of seriousness but it was mostly made up of something that you couldn’t describe.
Keeping their eyes locked on yours, they softly ask, “Did you want someone to kiss you?”
With a shy tone you say, “Only if they liked oranges”, jokingly trying to regain control of the conversation again.
Quietly Bella says, “I like oranges.” They’re eyes never leaving yours adding weight to their honesty.
“Good, I like bringing them to you.” Gaining some confidence you added, “I’d like to bring more though”, as you start to slowly lean your head toward them.
With the remaining space between you two, they look down at your lips. “Yeah, I’d like that.”
Another odd question comes to your mind. “Do you think I’d still taste like the clementines? Like the sky?”
“Could I find out?”
The sun disappears and the dark blue begins to take over. The only remaining sign of any red, orange, pink, and white that night was up on the hill, sharing a kiss with their lover.

The Moon Has Many Lovers
Bella Ramsey x Reader
I haven’t written any short stories in a while and figured it would be good to take some time to write again. Let me know if you have any suggestions or ideas you want me to write about btw! I’d love to write more but sometimes I just have no idea what to write. Hope you enjoy this loosely edited story!
Bella wakes up in the middle of the night, walking in the dark to find the missing warmth from the bed. They knew you were on the patio admiring the sky.
It was a cool night after a sweltering summer day. This was the perfect opportunity to do some night gazing. When Bella notices the sliding door that opened up to the patio they made their way over quietly as to not disturb you. They stopped at the foot of the door admiring you from a distance. This action reminded them of a story you mentioned before.
The moon has many lovers. She adores them all.
Although she makes sure to save her brightest rays for the window that belongs to her most beloved. Never too bright that it wakes them up, but just enough to keep them warm and their features visible to admire from afar.
The moon has fallen deeply in love with them that she can’t help but spin and readjust herself to look her absolute best for them. She even changes her appearance often to impress them.
Sometimes she wears her bright white gown that hugs her shape so beautifully she outshines all of the stars in the galaxy, including the sun -who proclaims even she burns for the moon during the day in hopes they’ll meet again soon.
Sometimes the moon decides to wear her darkest of drapes, she says it’s because she hopes that it might interest her lover to imagine her whole figure based on memory and pictures they took of her. She hopes they desperately plea for her to show herself.
On the days that the moon is simply too shy to show herself, her lover longs for her. They ask the stars to ask her to return as soon as she can, and that they miss her dearly.
“Tell her how I can not sleep knowing she is not here. That my bed is so cold without her. How scared I feel when she is not watching over me during my most vulnerable and unprotected. Lastly-tell her that she can put on all the dresses, gowns, and fancy attire she likes-I will always find her to be the most beautiful in the universe.”
The next day the moon shyly peers out from her hiding place and her lover begins to feel a peace inside of them again.
“Hello my love. I know you are shy to shine as bright as you can today, so let me be the one to watch you as you rest. Let my love be the warmth to reignite your rays and reassure your beauty.”
The moon felt deeply loved and she began to show up again and again to spend her nights with her lover.
When Bella decides that they’ve watched you from afar for long enough they make their way over to you.
“Hello my love,” they say to you as they wrap their arms around your waist and burying their head into the back of your neck, kissing it gently. You respond with a hum automatically laying your hands on their arms finding them warm and comforting.
“I was just doing some night gazing, I’ll come in soon.” You say stroking their arms with your thumbs.
“Sorry if I woke you,”
“You didn’t wake me, but I did miss you in bed.” Bella said quietly, still too sleepy to have a full conversation with you.
“You know I thought about waking you actually, I decided against it because it was silly to wake you for it.” You confess.
“Wait, what was it?” They ask with amusement.
“Okay but don’t laugh.” With a reassuring nod from Bella you hesitantly say “When I wake up in the middle of the night, I’ll look at you and I just want to wake you up to tell you that you’re stunning when you’re asleep.”
In response Bella lets out a snort, “I’m sorry, I don’t mean to laugh. I just find you irresistibly cute sometimes.”
You turn around to face them and swiftly give them a small kiss smiling and a little embarrassed.
“Thanks, but I’m just letting you know you also snore sometimes when you’re sleeping.” You jokingly say.
Bella, surprised and slightly taken aback, lets out a playful small gasp and ask, “I do? Well, do you at least think it’s attractive?”
“Of course I do.” You say making them laugh. You two eventually make your way inside and back into bed. Like you always do every night you make sure to thank your lucky stars that you get to end your day with Bella again and again.

Sorting Through Books
You worked at a bookstore. One of those bookstores filled to the brim with books. In the front the books were positioned in it’s appropriate genre and alphabetical order, but the moment you step in the back you’d find yourself confused, as everything had been sort of thrown together in heaps of books. It was an old bookstore and it was recently sold to a new owner who was having you reorganize the shelves. You didn’t mind the task as it kept you busy and away from most people throughout the day which was great for any introvert.
Despite the seclusion, you weren’t lonely because you had company with you. You had a buddy with you that accompanied you as you worked. Her name was Maru, a grey tabby cat that wandered into the bookstore when the new owner bought the place and has forever made it her home. Every now and then you’d also find wandering customers looking at the books that you were trying to organize.
Today started out as any other day, book after book you managed to get a decent portion of it placed into piles that you could later arrange onto shelves.
By then you were in need of a break and made your way to the nearest coffee shop. Maru, as she always did, followed you to the front door of the shop where you told her to wait as you made your order.
When you get your drink you made your way outside where you saw Maru with a stranger, petting and praising her as they gently gave her pets on the head. You let the stranger continue petting Maru as you walk past, not wanting to disturb them and too shy to claim ownership on a neighborhood cat.
Although, you hadn’t noticed that Maru had quickly gotten up to follow you, which in return led the stranger to follow Maru.
You had already situated yourself in the back ready to go back to work when you begin to hear someone’s footsteps.
“Huh, never thought a cat would be into books.” They said. This remark made you smirk, intrigued by this stranger already.
Maru eventually walks in and sits right next to you. You immediately go to pet her before greeting the stranger that had walked in right behind.
“Hi, are you a friend of Maru’s?” You jokingly ask them. You get a good look at them. You thought they were cute, but you can’t help but to be drawn to the I will not come home drunk tee shirt they had on.
“Oh I suppose I could be. We just met and I kind of tagged along.” They answer hesitantly, a little embarrassed that they just followed a cat they don’t even know.
“Are you drunk now? Is that why you followed a cat into a random bookstore?” When you say this their face is confused before looking down and realizing that their shirt might make for a weird first impression.
“I swear I’m a hundred percent sober, your cats just adorable and I couldn’t get enough of her.” They frantically say to try and regain some control of the conversation.
“Okay, I believe you, but how do I know you’re not some weird cat stalker?” Maru at this point has cuddled up next to you taking a nap. A slight pause in the conversation arose when they began to think of their response.
“How do you know the cat isn’t the one stalking you?” Now you’re confused.
“What?”
“She follows you every where I’m guessing, considering how easy it was for her to follow you here today, she must do it pretty often. That being said, why don’t you ever think she’s the one stalking you?” You give one look at the sleeping Maru, stunned and speechless that you’ve never considered this and yet it took just a few seconds for a stranger to point it out to you.
“Even if she was a stalker, I don’t think I’d mind. She’s too cute and she helps me with the books. If you ask me I think that’s a fair price to pay for a little cat stalking.”
“Well if that’s your answer I think I’d have to confess that I’ve seen you around and maybe I was stalking you a little bit and sort of followed you and her here because I thought you were attractive. Now that I’m saying that out loud it is weird, but I swear if you told me to leave and forget about all this I’d understand. I’m just saying stuff now-“ their voice got quieter in hopes that not speaking at all could help them out of their never ending spew. You let out a little chuckle charmed by how dorky but also sweet their confession was.
“You’d be right in saying that I could banish you from this shop, but truthfully I think you’re too cute to just let you leave. How about we go out for coffee tomorrow and you can stalk me all you like.” You say smiling at them.
“Great, that sounds good. Not the stalking bit, just the coffee.” Once again their voice quiets down the moment they realize they’re not being as cool and collected as they originally hoped. You even hear a mumble of a “Great now I think I’m just embarrassing myself.”
You nod at them, smiling at how entertaining they are when they’re nervous. You then pull out a pen and a little notepad that was next to you. On the paper you write your name and number and tore the paper out for them. “My names y/n by the way.”
They take the paper, looking down at it with pure joy plastered on their face. “Thanks, I’m Bella.”
They fold the piece of paper and place it in their pocket.
“So I’ll see then, I promise no more stalking for both you and Maru. Okay, bye y/n. Bye Maru!” You two wave each other goodbye as they walk out of the store. You’re overjoyed and your smile hasn’t left your face since they walked in.
“Jeez Maru, I didn’t think you’d be such a good wingman.”
You give Maru all the pets they desire before going back to work.

Church
It’s Sunday and you’re walking up to the church, seeing Bella already there waiting for you at the bottom of the staircases.
“Didn’t think you would actually come today.” You walk up to Bella, dressed in a white button-down and black jeans. A heat was growing in your cheeks, whether it be the sun or the growing blush that happens every time you see them, there was excitement brewing in you.
“Yeah, me either. Probably the earliest I’ve been up on a Sunday.” You say in between yawns.
“You woke up early for me?” Flirting always filled your conversations.
“Well I don’t think I’m really here for God, am I?”
“Don’t say that too loud, it might be a bad first impression before they even get to learn your name.” They scold you softly.
“Trust me, most of these people won’t care to know my name if they find out why I’m actually here.”
“You’re here for worship. Let’s just call it that. Besides it seems like your family likes it around here. My dad also says your dad’s good with handy work so that’s got to be a good sign you can belong here.”
“Lately, I don’t think I’ve necessarily felt like I belong anywhere. Especially not here.” Before Bella can change their remark your dad calls you over.
“Seems like it’ll be starting soon, we’d better head on up.” When you make it inside, you sit with your family in the back, too shy to go any closer. They sit right in the middle with their family, having already established good ties with the church.
The way they sit there can make anyone believe God did in fact exist. He was just too busy making Bella for you to answer anyone’s prayers that day. Bella can’t see you looking at them, but you think they know. Actually, you want them to know you’re looking.
They’ve explained that it felt like a cat staring at its owner, waiting to be pet by them. You want them to give you that attention.
When Bella finally decides they’re done waiting they get up and walk in the direction of the bathrooms. They don’t even look at you as they walk away to ensure no one suspects the both of you. You wait an agonizing two minutes before getting up yourself, too excited to have them to yourself.
You may not worship God, but you know exactly how to worship them.
You walk in their footsteps, past the bathroom, and into one of the classrooms. They’re looking at their phone sitting on top of one of the tables. When they look up they greet you with a smile to which you smile back. Nothing else is said as you make your way over to the desk and make yourself comfortable on the tabletop next to them. This entire time their eyes followed you, watching you.
When you finally get situated, you begin to feel shy and don’t say anything or move your focus from the floor, afraid to get closer. Time began to feel infinitely long as you tried to work up the courage to do something, but then your eyes began to move as you saw their hand make its way closer to yours.
Then you decided to follow and crept your pinky towards them. Finally, they connect your pinkies together, creating smiles on your faces. You can’t help yourself and you move your eye contact away from their hand and to their face.
Just so you’ll get the chance to see them smile at you. Like you're not a bad person, corrupting them. Maybe it’s because you are a bad person or maybe it's human instinct, but you give in to the moment and pull them in for a kiss.
They reciprocate and it’s like the god people keep talking about isn’t all that powerful because how can god feel so minuscule when you’re kissing this one person.
This usually continues until they think you’ve had enough. It never is, but you’ll stop anyway because they say to.
Today though, they make you stay. Who knows how long you’ve been there, just kissing them. You don’t know because this time they insist on more. This may be the only way you’d like to spend your Sunday mornings.

Flower Bed
Bella Ramsey X Reader
Flowers can relay messages from one person to another. That may be why we give out flowers to people that mean so much more than we can say. Although, these messages are often hidden and left unnoticed by most people. Maybe it’s the lack of solid information on this floral language, the disinterest we as a society place in the nature we walk on, or maybe it’s because running to your nearest florist after work moments before seeing your person requires sacrifice in time and specificity.
For many though, I think it’s the difficulty we face in creating messages that can amount to an ounce of what we truly feel for them.
Yet this unreliable system of floral morse code is the only way you’ve been able to tell Bella that you loved them.
Anytime you were both in town you would make your way over to their house, picking up flowers from bushes and random cracks with slight foliage as you walk. By the time you get there, you would usually have enough to tie and clump into a ball giving it the necessary weight needed for you to successfully throw it through their window and into their bedroom.
“I don’t understand is this supposed to be romantic or are we trying to get dirt all over my comforter?” Bella said as they pop their head out to see you.
“Trust me if you want romance just let me know, I’d be more than happy to oblige!” You yell back. They smirk and like it always had been, it’ll take a little more jokes and sly remarks to convince them to come down and finish the silly act you two had started.
“Are you here to ask me out on a date? Perhaps you’re here to ask for my hand in marriage?” They ask. “I will say though, I don’t typically go for people as direct as you,” Bella says taunting you.
“How about we go out on a date and by the end of the day we’ll see if you’d still be into marrying me?” You say desperately trying to get them to come down quickly and out of the heat you’re currently melting in.
This happens every year. You and Bella aren’t actually dating, but things have always been more than platonic.
At one point you two have even confessed that your feelings were mutual, but somewhere in that conversation, you agreed that long distance would be difficult in the early stages of a relationship and your friendship was more important at that moment. Although your mutual agreement kept your friendship going, it made things confusing.
You two weren’t exclusive, but you weren’t looking to be in a relationship with anyone. You were also busy trying to get through college. Romance, was hardly on your mind unless that romance was with Bella. They were always in the back of your mind keeping you company when you studied or when you began daydreaming during boring lectures.
You don’t exactly know what things have been like for Bella in the romance department (nor did you ask), but deep down you hoped that they were waiting for the day things could bring you two together.
It wasn’t like you two didn’t talk. You talked as often as you could, but the both of you were in different places of the world. Sometimes they’d be off elsewhere to a different part of England, in the U.S., or Canada. You’d be in the U.S. studying day and night for most of the year. This made texts and calls almost impossible to be as good as it was in person. Alas, you were still able to keep in touch.
Now that it’s summer you finally finished school and Bella was back in town before having to be elsewhere for another job. Which brings you two here, taunting each other through their window.
With a chuckle they finally run down to their front door, opening it up quickly and practically squeezing you into a bear hug. Missing them equally as much, you find yourself immediately squeezing back.
“I’ve missed you.” They muffled into your shoulder. You finally get a good glimpse of them when you pull back, still attached in their embrace. “Yeah, I’ve been waiting to see you too.” You say, too mesmerized by their features. Then you noticed their hair.
“Look at that your hair’s shorter.” Picking up a strand to observe.
“Yeah, I sent you that video of them cutting it off a while back remember?”
Of course you remembered, it was a huge change that left you a little jealous because you weren’t there in person to witness yourself, but you were also squirming with delight seeing them with their semi-new haircut.
“Yeah, it looks great. You always look great.” You say while awkwardly pulling away from the hug as you try to keep your mixed emotions down.
“Thanks.”
You’re both a little shy having not seen each other in a long time.
“So, I was thinking we make it up to my room for a bit, I’ve got something for you.” Bella points toward the room above and you feel a gush of warmth spring into your cheeks. They’ve been thinking about you while you’ve been separated, and you can’t help but feel a sort of validation after thinking of them the entire time you’ve been away too.
“So you’re the one proposing now aren’t you?” You say trying to regain yourself and keeping up with the banter. “If that gets you to come in faster, then yes.”
With this remark, they let you into the house where you make it up their stairs and into their bedroom, where you’ve thrown countless numbers of flowers trying to get their attention.
“You know it’s funny, you’d think with how long we’ve known each other that I’d find a stray flower or two around here, but it’s starting to seem like you’re hoarding them up and hiding them away from me.” You say trying to ease your anxiousness and excitement now being alone with them again.
Ignoring your statement, they go over to their desk and pick up a nicely decorated box. “My surprise is a bit handmade, but I figured you’d be into it since it took a little more work and thought.” Bella hands it over and gestures toward the bed to sit.
“You know you didn’t have to get me anything. Besides I didn’t even think of getting you something. Sorry about that.”
“Nonsense, you didn’t have the get me anything, I just wanted you to have this. Also, this gift wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for you anyway.” Curious now hearing that you’re a key component to a gift for yourself you lift the lid of the present to investigate.
On the very top is a note,
Every flower you sent through my window felt like an “I love you”. If I don’t say anything now, I might have to sleep with an endlessly growing meadow beneath my bed dedicated to the love we have.
-Bella
Under the note, you find neatly arranged flowers pressed and preserved on papers with tiny handwritten dates next to each flower.
You’re astonished.
“I figured we should give it a shot. It’s been a while and I’m still in love with you. Although this isn’t a proposal like you wanted it to be, I’d like to ask you out on a proper date.” Bella says as you’re still staring at years worth of patience.
You finally look up at them smiling like an idiot before blurting out, “In that case, I think I should be getting you an actual bouquet of flowers before we go out on our official first date.”
“Oh wait!” They quickly stand up and pick up a flower off their desk. “I think you’ve already picked enough flowers to make more than one bouquet for me. I’ll have to press this one for you though. I think this’ll complete our collection.” Bella says as they carefully hold a flower you brought just moments before.
“I don’t think I’d ever want to stop bringing you flowers.” You say mesmerized by them. “I might even have to grow my own flower bed just so I’ll have flowers ready to go.”
Bella let’s out a laugh when you say this, amused by your response, and you smile thinking of all the flowers growing the more you fall in love with them.

Pining For Pineapple
Bella Ramsey x Reader
This is just a short story I wrote that wasn’t meant to be a fanfic, but I’m bored and I don’t know where else to share this story so I decided to nourish the gay Bella army with a new story. Anyway I hope you enjoy.
“Pineapple again?”
Bella asks as they picks up a silver tin wrapped in a bright yellow strip of paper. Before I could answer, their hand and the can make their way toward the basket swaying from their other hand. “I know you like them. We might as well pick some up while we’re here.”
“I’ve got a can or two in the cupboard already so I think I’ll be all right till next week,” I explain as I try to pick the can back up to return it to its original place on the shelf. Before my fingers could reach it in time, Bella moves the basket farther away from me.
“I think we should just grab one, in case you’re craving pineapple this week. Also, it might save us some time from coming back here next week.” Bella protests.
“Why? Are you so sick of me that you’d rather stock up on canned food to avoid hanging out with me?” I say teasingly, knowing full well that I’m the one who wouldn’t be able to go a day without them.
I watched as a grin emerge from their lips before they speak. “Yeah. You’re suffocating me, so I’ll have to buy as many canned pineapples as I can to feed you and keep you satiated while I’m away.”
To this remark, I scold them with a light smack to their arm and say, “You know you love me too much to stay away.”
“I do know that, but do you love me?” They playfully say.
I taunt back, “Not as much as my pineapple.”
We continue our banter with a side of more shopping. By the time we paid for our things and exit the store-the groceries in my hand-I noticed that night was approaching, and the clouds were grey and ominous looking.
We’re walking back to our apartment when Bella gets a text on their phone. I take a glance and it’s a message from a good friend of ours. “Everyone’s hanging out tonight. Wanna go?”
“Sure, but we gotta be quick. It smells like it’ll rain soon.” As if on cue, raindrops lightly fall onto our face.
“I think if we run, we can make it back to the apartment before the rain gets heavier.” My hand holding the grocery bag tightens as I nod, and we both take off.
I’m only a few steps behind them, giving me a chance to get a good look at them.
Hair, eyes, nose.
Then I see their lips. They grew as uncontrollable giggles slip out of their mouth as we run through the rain, and it convinces me that I now have heightened hearing and limitless capacity in my memory just for them.
Suddenly I feel my heart expand, and I am eager to fill it with the thing I’m craving the most. I’ve felt it before. The way my lips purse as I engulf myself in its sweetness, but I have to brace myself every time for the sourness that comes at the end. Despite this pain, I’m craving it more than ever right now.
When we finally get to the main entrance of our apartment, we slow down before getting closer to the door. The giggling had turned into huffs as we try to catch our breaths.
Before they reach the door handle, I say with the little air in my lungs, “Hold on.” They turn around to face me, and our eyes connect. Before I forget why I stopped them in the first place, I lay the groceries down by the door. Then I walk back into the rain just a few steps away under the warm yellow hue of a street light nearby. The rain had started pouring moments before we got here. Despite this, I still waved them to come over.
“In the rain?” They yell over the sound of the sky continues to pour down on us.
“Just for a bit, please,” I say.
They come over grinning, radiating, and ecstatic about whatever plan I have up my sleeve.
“So much for trying to avoid the rain.” They’re still taunting me.
We’re both drenched now, yet they’re still glowing; brighter and yellow now as they enter the light. I extend my hand as they get closer, and they rest their palm against mine, weaving our fingers together. My eyes are on them this whole time, with a grin I can’t seem to shake. Our eyes are still connected until they get close enough to place their other hand gently on my face. Immediately they use their thumb to caress my cheek, and my eyes fall to their lips like it always does.
I’m feeling it again. I’m craving them, and nothing can stop my concentration, not even the rain.
When I move closer, I ask them, “Is this okay?”
Bella nods, and they let out a slight chuckle. This only amplifies my craving. My smile gets wider and my heart beats at a rhythm I can not recognize.
Then we kiss, and I lose myself in the sweetness.
The hand already tangled in theirs, softly squeezes. I do this because I hope it can make the sweetness linger a little longer. It is also to brace myself for the sourness that will follow when it’s over.
When we do pull away, we laugh to ease the tension in the cliche story we’ve curated. It’s time to walk out of the rain, but my concentration stays on them.
I'm doing my best to savor this moment so I can store this memory away for the next time I'm craving pineapple, and I’ll ensure to ask them if they want to share it with me again.
