You did a bang up job on the creepypasta designs! I've got a lot of questions though so:

1)Who is Margaret Woods and whats her story? 2)Is Ticci Toby still a slender proxy, does slender even have proxys still? 3) Smile dog looks to have some sort of rabies, does his change in design affect how he kills his victims, like instead of making them go insane they froth at the mouth and die or something like that? 4) Is Ben still related to the Moon Children cult if not how would you say his story changed 5) and lastly how has Stephens story changed, does his pokemon still die, does he still resort to strangling his brother? Loved the designs and I think it would be really cool because you said they had little stories but not enough to add to the lore doc, do you think you could reveal them? Anyways loved it, keep up the good work!

1) that's jeff's mother. in d-sides, both she and jeff become murderers, but they aren't in kahoots or anything. jeff actually hates her very much. for the backstory, to summarize it so i don't wind up sending a novel, jeff and liu spent a lot of time with their father, jeff sr., growing up. he had a local job so he got to spend a lot of time at home, so the boys grew closer to him than they did with their mom. maragret's job is much further away, so she gets to spend little time with them, and it drives her crazy to see them prefer their father than her. jeff jr. is a bit of a violent child thats mildly problematic, enjoying his dad's hunting trips way more than he probably should, never eating the meat from animals he kills. he's just dying to get some of that violence out on a human being, but is consistently stopped before any real carnage can occur. liu, on the other hand, is his polar opposite. good kid. so one time, margaret takes some time off work to spend with the boys. liu thinks its fine, but jeff jr. finds her annoying and overbearing. this winds up making her enraged, because she believes that jeff sr. has turned jeff jr. away from her, because he wants nothing to do with her at this point. in a scene where jeff attempts to defend himself against a few bullies, another attempt to get some of his pent-up rage and violence out, margaret steps in and beats up all of them. she gets arrested because she is an adult that beat up some 14 year olds, but jeff is more angry that she stopped him from shedding some blood. since its a small local town, margaret convinces the cop to stop by an atm and dumps out her entire bank account as bail. she arrives back at the school to pick up jeff jr., who is entirely embarrassed as he thought she was being taken to freaking JAIL, so its just more reason for him to hate her. so one night while liu goes to sleep over at a friend's house, margaret has a a desperate attempt to get jeff jr.'s attention one last time. she decides that if he loves their father so much, she'll remove him from the equation just so jeff jr.'s eyes will be on her only. so, she KILLS their father, much to jeff jr.'s dismay. with his father dead and liu not present, all he feels is rage and all he sees is the person who caused it. so in what would be the climax of the story, jeff would be running from margaret while dunking gasoline all over the house (which he probably got from the garage or something idk). when she finally catches him, he'd light it all up, leaving the two to physically fight each other while inside the burning house, burning both of them in various parts of their body but mainly both of them were burned on their faces. the neighbors call 911 and the police arrive. margaret is arrested and jeff is taken to an orphanage, as he was believed to be innocent. now that pretty much no one is watching him, jeff is now constantly able to sneak out and get out some of that pent-up rage, committing most violent crimes from petty battery to first degree murder. he's smart enough to cover his tracks and not get caught, and is never a real suspect due to his past as a "poor orphan child". as for margaret, she's always getting into trouble in prison, getting into fights and shanking other prisoners and whatnot. she just sees everyone as "getting in between her and her son". eventually, she escapes prison in pursuit of jeff, killing any and everyone who she sees as "in her way". so much for not sending a novel am i right

2) yeah, i don't like ticci toby that much and him being a proxy is STUPID to me but i was still wanting to keep the story faithful in a way. toby's general idea doesn't change that much, he's just redesigned to be a slender proxy for d sides, so he has a cape that's covered in moss and shit.

3) instead of being a virtual image, smile dog is a polaroid picture of an ecstatic dog. the general idea of "spreading the word" is the same, but you have to spread it locally instead of virtually, like by sneaking it in a letter or giving it to some waiter as a "tip" instead. going too long without spreading the word will result in a foaming seizure and eventual death.

4) i didn't think about ben's lore that much because i don't know anything about ben drowned........i just thought it'd be cool if he had hms' face.............sory...................

5) i'm not gonna lie, i spent a good like 45 minutes to hour and a half trying to think of lore for strangled red before i gave up and went "i can do what og strangled did and make red look scary", so thats what i did lol, we may give it an actual story if we wind up being forced to but as things are rn we don't have any plans for strangled red content anyways (it sucks) so not much thought went into it

Hi Deacon, this might be a stupid question, but since you did Red, do you plan on doing references for the main Godzilla cast or at least Godzilla?

we plan on making designs for godzilla and mothra at the very least. i can't really see us making designs for any other kaiju except maybe king ghidorah

i'm fine with zeph being in an exe fangame as long as its not for profit and i am credited!!! i'd recommend reading his pasta first if you haven't yet, so you can get a grasp on his personality and abilities (which are pretty much just shapeshifting and copying the abilities of others. he can turn into any sonic character and take on their powers, so if he's tails he can fly, if he's sonic he can run especially fast etc. really just depends on "what game he's in", and what characters are featured in it). i'd also prefer for zeph to not be in any exe games or projecys featuring any character made by rightburst, kenji/lucy/whatever they go by now and nominal dingus. if characters owned by any of them are featured, keep zeph out of it. aside from that though, go ahead :)

Everyones talkin about the d side creepypasta refs

But what im curious about is who all is gonna be in the d side dbz refs (and additionally if ur gonna do dragon ball super stuff eventually too)

you can expect these guys when i get around to the dbz refs!!! i'll go ahead and say to not get your hopes up for these guys anytime soon, as i still have comms (which are still open eh? eh? obvious elbow nudge) and other work for d sides and another mod to work on, but i WILL get to them. (hell, people practically paid for me to make em lol) when i do inevitably get to them, here's who all will be there.

i'll also say that last time, i wound up tracing art for every character to get a design first before starting on the actual ref, but i won't be going through that process this time because it took too long and added, like, a week onto the wait for the og db refs to get finished.

on the note of super, i actually can't really speak on anything regarding it because i haven't seen any of super yet, i know literally nothing about it so i can't make proper d sides for it yet. maybe when i get finished i can say that super designs will come, but for now i'm not planning anything past z.

Which undertale locations are which in d sides

the au was definitely a victim of 2018's "snowdin curse". i got the au well developed in ruins and snowdin, and had tons of ideas and lore for literally everything else, but i didn't develop areas themselves past snowdin. the ruins were now the mines, which was a city where all ablebodied monsters went to the local mine and collected ores and stuff. it's a very rich city. snowdin was a dense, nasty swamp. if i had to just...make up the other areas on the spot, with the knowledge of where i took the au eventually, lets say waterfall is based on the deeper areas of the ocean and is called something like "the trench". i think thats the most i could do with the whole "harsher environment" theme and waterfall without doing something entirely different. for hotland, maybe it could be nasty and green instead with entirely dead wildlife, due to the waste thats produced from the core. for the core itself, it'd be constantly pumping out waste and radiation so its toxic to stay in there for more than maybe 3 minutes, but there are "safe rooms" you can enter to reset your count. the timer could run down while you're in battles, giving a sense of urgency. new home, however, just stays as is.

1) honestly thats not a dynamic i've thought of in literal years at this point. i wouldn't say its canon anymore though, no.

Gonna be asking some questions about UT/DT since chapters 3 and 4 revitalized my obsession with these two games lol

With Tenna being a gameshow host and chapter 3 being mostly gameplay focused, has there been any thoughts or ideas on what the d-sides version would be like? Would Tenna still be a gamehost?

2. Does Kris still live with Toriel in deltarune? If so, is she still a teacher at the school or does she have a different job?

3. In the d-sides geno route, its safe to assume we'd be fighting the regular bosses like papyrus, undyne and sans. Would there be any other bosses included?

4. Is flowey similar to how he is in regular undertale?

4. Whats sans' and toriels relationship like in d-sides deltarune? Is it similar to what we got now or different?

5. Since deltarune takes place around autumn time, what season would d-sides deltarune take place in?

6. With the releases of chapters 3 and 4, has there been any changes in regards to the lore of d-sides undertale/deltarune?

7. What role does d-sides gaster play in undertale/deltarune? Since he wasnt a scientist (i think do correct me if im wrong)

8. Lastly, out of all the tracks we got from chapter 3 and 4 whats the top 3 you liked the most?

1) tenna is still the same in terms of his general concept but instead of being presented like a live show, he treats kris, susie and ralsei like actors

2) kris lives with asgore now, who can easily support kris and himself due to his successful flower shop, flower king. toriel is the sole worker at a failing bakery. she still holds contempt for asgore but would love to get back with him, however she doesn't want to seem desperate, so she's still a mean to him, while dropping "subtle" bread crumbs that she'd be open to the idea of rekindling. asgore doesn't want to be rude to her, but does not wanting to remarry her.

3) a large part of what i had in mind for no-mercy was that everyone got a boss fight. i love undertale, but my ONLY nitpick with the whole game is that no-mercy only has 2 boss fights. i know its part of the whole "empty atmosphere" thing, but its a big issue for me and makes no-mercy as a whole interesting but ultimately boring as hell to play imo. (with 2 big spikes in fun, but paci was consistently fun.) when you clear out the mines (the ruins), toriel dons her own armour and attacks frisk, hoping to defend her kingdom. you can whittle her down to really low hp, at which point she flees. for papyrus, frisk attempts to make a slice for his neck, but misses and kills the bird instead, which sends papyrus in a rage. he's not trying to kill frisk, but definitely goes way harder than he intends to and can end up killing them. (unlike his paci fight, where he just whittles you down to 1 hp and forces himself to stop.) undyne still goes undying but its executed slightly differently since she's no longer in the guard. mettaton just gets an actual neo figut. the last 3 bosses would be fought back-to-back-to-back. for alphys, i was inspired by that old alphys neo fight and ebhh. she'd inject herself with something to strengthen herself, and that on top of being fueled by depression and anger gives her a powerful internal transformation, so she looks the same but is actually way more powerful. she'd be fought at the end of the core. sans is mostly the same, no surprise there. he's at judgement hall. the final boss would be in new home, and it'd be asgore and toriel fighting alongside each other, combining their strength to take you down. i can't imagine they'd talk that much during this fight.

4) no, bns originally started as an underfell take, and while i HAVE changed things majorly so its not underfell anymore, flowey is one thing that stayed around. with the general idea being that the environment turned way harsher, flowey tells frisk that he's been treated terribly by monsters of the underground, and joins them on their adventure. he doesn't really help with attacks at all, but can provide some funny commentary during some areas. during no-mercy, he solves all puzzles.

5) never really considered that before, but i'll say winter because winter is freaking cool.

6) surprisingly, no. we did change spamton a small bit, so now he can actually have a past with tenna, but otherwise everyone is about the same.

7) still the royal scientist. he's incomprehensible. no one knows what he really looks like.

8) idk any track names but the tv land area theme, chapter 4 battle theme and knight battle theme in that order are my favorites for sure

I know it's been said a zillion times that D-sides will continue with rom hacks and fangames but will we see any exe or creepypasta fangames or rom hacks with stuff like d-sides zeph or palloswamp

the most i've considered is making in-universe creepypastas, hoaxes and rumors, something like "documenting" the game zeph is from and why you shouldn't download it, or a strange copy of mario clash that was only played once and destroyed, or something like that. still considering that idea, but don't get your hopes up. outside of the fnf mod, there probably won't be anything playable in terms of d sides creepypasta stuff.

So how do you feel about DR Chapters 3 and 4?

they were very good!!!!! i can't decide which between the two i like more, i loved the characters in ch3 more, but the storytelling in ch4 is among some of the best toby has put together, across everything he's ever worked on.

there are smaller criticisms i have, namely with chapter 3, i wish it was longer and had some more places to explore, or that you could explore more in between rounds, but i still loved tenna, ramb, mike and even eram. also if you couldn't tell by my discord pfp i'm quite fond of device friend and him finally having his first physical appearance is very very nice :)

i feel like a lot of people were criticizing chapter 3 because it wasn't an insane spectacle, as if toby DIDN'T say like a while before it came out that ch3 was more gameplay focussed than story focussed. obviously it had important story aspects, like the introduction of the knight as a real character, but otherwise the events of ch3 definitely focus on kris' personality and past more than the future of the game.

also let it be known that most of the people who are saying ch3 was bad are the ones who thought friend inside me was real #nooticing

1) k9 unit are members of grillby's mafia in snowdin (which is now a dank swamp area)

2) nah, their water drop motif is just more apparent and now they look more like an actual drop of water

7) yeah you still do, both in paci and geno. toriel begrudgingly lets frisk past the first area but she's like "ohhhh if you can get past me then surely you can hold your own against the other strong monsters in the underground" but little does she know she's actually not the strongest monster by any means. she knows that asgore is still "guarding" the barrier but knows that he likely won't give frisk a hard time. when frisk arrives in the abandoned new home, they find asgore, who hasn't had any company in decades so he just assumes the worst, since he's had a huge mental decline, and attacks in self defense. in true paci, toriel shows up and stops it like she does in base ut. in geno, he notes the dust on frisk's clothes and goes much harder.

Anything related to the Mandela catalogue is out? I wonder why it was revealed long ago that the whole controversy was fake and just a very stupid relationship dispute.

we just showed our plans before everything was debunked but honestly i don't think anyone on the team really WANTED to do it that much anymore so yeah we still aren't planning anything mandela related. we aren't against the idea, we already have the lore and everything in place, we just don't have anything planned and aren't actively searching for mandela mods to do for d sides. with that said, though, its not on the blacklist or anything, so anyone wanting to make dmandela stuff can do that lol

we've discussed it but aren't sure yet. not entirely ruling it out, but don't expect anything new for redux 1.0.
