Some glimpses of 6 Pittori, my new co-curated exhibition in Pavarolo, where 6 young Italian painters (based in Turin) created an ideal link between their works and the artworks of the “6 di Torino”, an informal group of painters active in early ‘900, in the city of Turin. The exhibition took place in the village of Pavarolo (where the renowed Italian painter and the de facto mentor of the group, Felice Casorati lived) in a series of “stages” diffused within the village.

During the 2019 edition of NEsxT - independent art network, the artist-run space IDEM Studio hosted Triplette, an exhibition by Ruggero Baragliu, Angelo Spatola, and Samuele Pigliapochi, curated by me, Maria Elena Marchetti, and Fabio Vito La Certosa.
This exhibition continues IDEM Studio mission to display a series of always evolving projects, and, at the same time, to host external curators, artists, and contributors. In this regard, the involvement of three curators was strongly wanted so that IDEM’s creative process, “was exasperated”.
For Triplette the curatorial approach was “1 vs 3″, in which, each curators, worked single-headedly with each artists, to craft three individual artworks that would expand a particular aspects of IDEM’s artistic process. The exhibition became a case study on the approach and the impact of curators in the production of artworks.

Here’s a wrap-up video for Eyes, Come Back!. This workshop, directed by artist Setareh Shahbazi and part of the Artissima Experimental Academy project, was a hands-on and cross-disciplinary experience, oriented towards a practical approach in which participants were engaged in the design and making of a series of fictional worlds. These scenarios based on the imaginary liked to the figure of the “trickster” (typical of folklore and mythology) – were the stage on which the selected young participants moved to explore multiple viewpoints narrating the uncertainty and entropy of contemporary society. Eyes, Come Back! was at Combo Torino in October-November 2019. I and Combo’s Bruno Barsanti curated the production.

Thank you, Marzia Migliora, for the wonderful workshop we organised together, during the 2018 edition of Artissima. A workshop for the students of the Academy of Fine Arts of Turin, where Marzia donated herself without restrain, teaching the young artists how to be free and use drawing to improve their creative process.

During the 2018 edition of Artissima, I followed, under the supervision of curator Lisa Parola, the realisation of the the exhibition Carol Rama - 100 anni di seduzione [“Carol Rama - 100 Years of Seduction”]: a booth inside the fair, organised for the Centenary of the Birth of the artist, where Fondazione Sardi per l’Arte displayed a series of previously unseen Rama’s artworks (part of the Sanguinetti’s Collection) highlighting her eclecticism and her artistic production, always free and independent.

The exhibition Aria condizionata is part of the NESXT - Independent Art Festival circuit. It offers a glimpse of the IDEM Studio’s philosophy, an artist-run space that is, first of all, the atelier of the artists Ruggero Baragliu, Samuele Pigliapochi and Angelo Spatola. During every appointments they try to show a new way to observe their artworks, pursuing a line of research about the artistic process. During Aria condizionata (an ideal continuation of the previous exhibition Contiene aromi naturali curated by Maria Elena Marchetti) the artists revise their artistic signature transforming their artworks (and IDEM Studio itself, that becomes an artistic environment) in giant negatives of themselves, covered in white.
Aria condizionata, IDEM Studio, Turin, from October the 30th to November the 4th. Curated by Maria Elena Marchetti, Fabio Vito Lacertosa, Davide Gambaretto

The open call to participate to DAF Struttura is finally out!
DAF Struttura is an experimental school; a light and sound immersive environment conceived and constructed by Jan St. Werner - co-founder of the electronic band Mouse on Mars - in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg, where he teaches Interactive Media/Dynamic Acoustic Research.
The educational public program is curated by Zasha Colah (with me acting as assitant curator). DAF Struttura will function as a stage, a sound performance, a workspace, a thinking place, an archive, a radio station, and a gallery, and will welcome international speakers, experimenters, artists and students.
Here's the call: https://www.artissima.art/en/daf_struttura_en/
