Hello fellow Inuyasha fans! With the conclusion of another award trimester, along with the joy and praise comes some unfortunate news. These awards have always been a way to give recognition to the creators for the fandom, spread awareness to lesser known authors & artists, and come together for celebration of a series we all love! However, some people have seen this as an opportunity to win above all else. The awards remain anonymous to the general fandom, but as moderators we take precautions to do our best to keep it fair. With that in mind, it has come to our attention that a few people have tried to increase votes for specific works by voting from multiple accounts. We removed the duplicate votes so those recognized can receive the acknowledgement they deserve. Let this be a reminder that we do what we can to keep the checks and balances in place, and at the end of the day, these awards are for fun - not a popularity contest. Nobody should feel the need to win by cheating. The true reward of FeudalConnection is being nominated, to have your work be recognized by the fandom, and open it up to a larger audience. Unfortunately, we have now put together penalties for those who are breaking the nomination or voting rules.
First offense, the offender will receive a written warning from the moderator team.
Second offense, the offender will be under a one term ban, meaning they may not participate in nominating or voting, and their works will not be eligible to be nominated.
Third offense, the offender will be permanently banned from participating in FeudalConnection.
In addition, pressuring others to nominate or vote for them is prohibited. If anyone is experiencing that, please reach out to a moderator. The offender will be subject to the penalties as dictated above. If, for whatever reason, you don't want your fics to be nominated, you can always reach out to us to have your username added to the "Do Not Nominate List". Thank you everyone for another fun and, mostly, successful term. The purpose of FC has always been to foster our diverse community, recognize all creators, and to have fun! We will see you in a few months! -FeudalConnection

Yes I take commissions.
Yes I am currently taking commissions.
No I will not dm you to ask you if you want to commission me. This does not work like that, and I don't know who decided that was "the way" now but it is not. It is tacky. It is awkward. It gets the artists hopes up, only to dash them when they are ignored or rejected.
Art commissions are not a Tupperware or Avon door-to-door sales pitch.
If you are interested, I have all the information here. You don't need an account to use artistree, just an email that you check. It is a site for actual artists, so no gen-AI fears. It lays out everything for you, and it keeps our communication in an organized place.

Not sure if this is a one-time thing or what but I figured I’d share a bit of art again. Hi, it’s been a while.

Fanfiction is the reason I'm not as worried about AI (as a writer)
If you've been reading the internet at all in the last few years, you know, according to the CEOs with a vested interest in this being true, that the next Tolstoy is lying in wait in a server farm currently guzzling up so much power it's changing the climate somewhere in Nebraska. AI is going to write books so well that there won't be any need for authors anymore! People will be able to just put in prompts and magically vomit out the stories they have always wanted to their personal standards!
There are not-so-outrageous claims that publishers are flirting with AI-genned and possibly people-guided stories already. And several publishing houses popping up to publish all those amazing AI-generated stories! And I'm not going to pretend that the writer in me didn't feel a twinge of worry.
Are they coming for my stories? Are these server farms going to replace the hours and days and weeks that I put into having an idea, constructing a plot, filling in ALL the words that connect the plot, editing to make the work cohesive all while paying attention to characterization, prose, voice, pacing, world building, realistic dialogue, humor, continuity, theme, and all the infinite little flourishes and details that go into creating a story? Apparently, so say the AI company CEOs who are totally not trying to sell you snake oil!
These insta-stories that people seem to think are a huge market have a really interesting testing ground: fanfiction. Because if there's any place where there is an instant audience voracious for reading stories that often repeat the same themes and tropes and characters, it's here. Look up the two cakes meme if you don't believe me. It's the perfect market for AI slop, providing an endless stream of soulmates fics featuring our favorite blorbos.
But what have we seen in practice? At least in the fandom I'm involved in, the few folks who have tried to make AI slop happen have... had trouble. Not only do the stories get flagged by members of the fandom as being suspicious, but they get very little to no engagement. People aren't interested in these stories. They avoid them. I want to remind everyone that fanfic is free. It's a click and sometime scrolling AO3. The prompts one would need to feed into ChatGPT are really narrow, since you probably already have the tropes you want in mind and the names of the characters. It's exactly where one would expect AI slop to have an audience, and it just doesn't.
If these models have already used the entire internet to train (which they have, even when people have told them to STOP using their content), and the only people who seem to be claiming we're within arm's reach of artificial general intelligence are the CEOs who are trying to keep the venture capital money flowing, then... do I fear that they are going to be able to compete with human creativity? I don't.
Because it can't even get people who've trawled the depths of AO3, of FFN, and even of Media Miner in a desperate search for a bazillion Destiel soulmate ABO fics to turn to the slop that ChatGPT makes.

Consensus is: We need to squish his face.
The television was on and the panels were flipping across the screen as Inuyasha looked for something to watch. “You want sappy or funny?” he asked without glancing back at her. She noticed him twitching his head back and forth as he acclimated to the glasses and being able to see the screen. “Those aren’t our only options, are they?” “Hm… No. But you’re gonna fall asleep and I don’t want a loud action movie scaring you awake.” Kagome huffed indignantly, hands on her hips. He finally looked at her over his shoulder, pressing the frames back up his nose when they slid with the movement. Kagome wasn’t sure what it was about that action that made her breath catch, but there it was. She bit her lip and forced herself to go to the kitchen to get herself a plate of food. “L-Let’s go with something sappy then, I guess.”
Thank you @brain-rot-hour for bringing Human Inu in his new-to-him glasses from Heart Eyes to life.
