I didn't notice you becoming so entangled in my veins...

That all these years later I would still get the pangs of acrid hemorrhaging in my guts whenever I so much as think your name...

I ran for the trees and got snared in your traps

There are ghosts in these walls and they peer through the gaps

Of my mind

Through my eyes

When people look at me, do they see that I'm haunted?

Can they sense that I'm gritting my teeth, that every moment I'm taunted?

By you

Of course not...

Only I do

But... I asked for this solitude

Those hands that washed away my sins in that shower

Have touched the things around me and it gives them power

Power over me and my mind

Everywhere I look I'm destined to find

Evidence of you

I hear your voice in my dreams

And I never know what to do but call back and hope that you can hear it too

How can you be so entwined in my life, having barely even been in it

We didn't have much time but I can't escape it for a minute

And when I finally lose my mind to the liquor and I think that I'm safe

Under the warm blanket of belligerence and guided only by fate

The most unlikely detail sends me back

To sand and moss and your nails in my back

To soft grass and warm glances and your hand in my hair

I suppose these ghosts are just my cross to bare

"Sometimes it's easy to miss your own story arc"

This life has taken me 35 years to actually want to live it. I make no excuses for this, I truly did not attempt to live it well. I have always lived it for others. My wants and needs were absorbed in my selfless ways. I gave, without concern for myself. All done out of an irrational fear that any sign of self care would be taken as a selfish action, labeling me filthy and " just like all the other men."

I am not an "open book." I am a patchwork manuscript, strewn about on a shelf of dust waiting to be finished, yet always wishing to be read. I am my own forgotten project that became the victim of procrastination, whose artist focused on the wrong story.

Sometimes it's easy to miss your own story arc. Balancing a plethora of other characters, their own stories becoming more engaging than your own. Watching them blossom, soaking in the nutrients of your love and care. It's easy to forget that you're the main character, that this is your story.

I have loved. Possibly more than I should. I have cared more than most would. Now it's time to put that love and care into my story, my character arc, because only then will my story have a happy ending.

L just invited me to see the new Barbie movie in theaters with him... Damn it. He must know that Kira would NEVER go see the Barbie movie. Especially not on opening day. I can't refuse now, or he'll think I'm Kira! Or maybe seeing the Barbie movie to throw off suspicion is exactly the kind of thing he expects Kira would do. He's really got me this time. DAMN YOU, L!!!
