One thing I’ve learned on this one, make sure your constraints are working perfectly in blocking. Also trying to use #animbot More often. Sesshomaru Illustration Step by Step. Definitely experimented on this one. As you can see, I started with color and once I noticed it wasn’t quite working started on only values instead. I took the values far enough to where I had a better grasp of what I wanted to do and then moved on to color. My overall drawing and composition changed a lot.

Perfectionism is an artist’s worst enemy. By far the biggest hurdle I’m facing as I continue on this painting and aim to be done, it’s that little perfectionist side of me. . . 🔊ON! Final for this Dialog piece. I learned so so much with this shot and I can see where I went wrong in a few spots. Still, I’m excited for the progress I’m making and that with each shot I do I can see improvement . . Who else feels that is hard at times to ask for critiques in their animation? Sometimes it feels like it’s your baby. 🤣 getting past that fear of asking for critique is so important. Learn to take critique, internalize it, understand it, but don’t take it personal. The best critiques I’ve received hurt at first because they are honest. What is the one thing you are afraid off the most? ... for me is failure! It cripples and affects you in ways you can’t even realize. • I received a very harsh critique in my animation this past week. It really surprised me but at the same time it was exactly what I needed. I take AnimSchool animation classes to improve as an animator and have that extra feedback time I get from our professors. With all honesty I have to say I’ve learned so so much in those classes. Coming out of college I was a shitty animator, now I’m building my confidence in the craft and really learning. • One of the things that always held me back from growing as an artist and animator is the fear of failure. Of showing my work, illustrations or animation, I was always afraid. Slowly I’ve been building up that confidence. Still, when you receive a harsh critique of works you’ve put your all into, it really hurts and reminds you of that fear again. • I’ve decided to move past it and take it as a positive! This critique came from a professional working animator and compared my work to that of his colleagues... It is a step closer to the skill level I want to achieve and a stepping stone in my path.
