Sneak peak at the upcoming "Bendy and the Silver Screams" graphic novel
They must be paying Arizmendi one mere cent per day because what Is this quality. The exit doors being copied over and flipped, the shadowy figure too, Andy (the protagonist we see) doesn't even look scared in the last panel.
Alex Arizmendi if you're being severely underpaid and/or rushed blink twice for help

I've got a question about this redraw project; outside of the first page/the forward, how are you going to go about making sure that this doesn't end up as a "here's the book you can read for free instead of buying the original", especially since Amazon's being weird about the paperback of the og book?
I get the idea of showing the dev team what for, but I'm not sure I understand how this isn't going to backfire and instead just hurt the people who worked on the novel & graphic novel as well as the artists who participate in this redraw, especially if the dev team catch wind of it and decide that legal action is the way to go.
Hmm, good questions.
I'm unsure if I can even avoid the "here's the book for free" thing, but I remember there being no action taken against the pdf that was leaked, so I have a feeling fanmade content shouldn't be too much of an issue either. It's a risk for sure but needed for this project to happen.
The forward should help with not hurting the artists. I want to include links to portfolios and other (quality) content made by both Chris and Alex, and will clearly state that the protest is against Joey Drew Studios (and especially Schoolastic) as they underpaid and rushed the artist and adaptor.
I was told about another redrawn project for a FNAF book that happened a few years back, so I feel like looking into that could help me navigate similar issues. If anyone has other redrawn projects that they're aware of I'd appreciate being told about them !!
#with the lack of action regarding the leaked pdf for the book before release I do think a fan project will be fine#I do think this project counts as transformative enough to not get in trouble too. We do plan to cut Some of the scenes for the sake of our#artists and to help mitigate being too risky to share#but things may still change depending on our ability#we will credit the original people behind the graphic novel and book. scholastic is the issue not the artists who work for them !!#reblogs#host reblogs#dctl redrawn#asks

Hello ! I read about the DCTL Graphic Novel fan version project, and I just wanted to know if I could be one of the people pinged when you eventually make the recruitment post ? I think I saw somewhere you mention we could ask for that
I don't know if I could be that useful, but I would love to help out with the organisation, writing for panels, files and stuff like that to help out the crew to put it together ! :] And maybe eventually helping with sketches but humans are hard
Also good luck on your projects !
You've been added, thank you for the interest !!
I was thinking I might need some help with organising things, so I might message or send an ask if I ever feel like I do !! All help is appreciated.

hi :)
is there any way that physical artists (e.i can't draw digitally) would be able to join the project?
Yes, if a traditional artist would like to make a physical page they can participate.
However, it would have to be scanned and uploaded that way. This is to make sure quality is not lost due to camera quality or lighting, and so the page can fit.

Question: for the redrawn project, are we going to be using the old Ink Demon design or the new one? I'm mostly asking because the old one is what's described in the book, but I didn't know if we were using the new one since that seems to be what his design is in canon now :/
The DCTL redrawn project aims to be as accurate to the original book as possible, so it will be using the final BATIM ink demon design.
It's likely going to just be the in-game model, but I'll see about any creative liberties I may feel would fit the story.
#the beginning and the end very clearly describe beast bendy and the rest of it is clearly meant to be the batim ink demon design#saying this because I used to think the whole “sliding down his gullet” and other opening mouth things was in reference to the batim#ink demon design. that thing cannot open its mouth I'm so sure of it#reblogs#host reblogs#dctl redrawn#asks

PLEASE SUPPORT THE DCTL REDRAWN PROJECT PLEASEE READ THE POST. WE NEED TO BOYCOTT AND PROTEST THIS THING (see #dctl redrawn for more)
THEY REPLACED THE ORIGINAL BOOK WITH THE GRAPHIC NOVEL ON AMAZON. OUTRIGHT REPLACED IT. LOOK AT THE REVIEWS HERE THIS WAS REPLACED !!!!!!
THEYRE FORCING PEOPLE TO BUY THE NEW ONE HOW WILL PEOPLE GET THE OLD ONE !!! THIS BOOK ALREADY HAS SO MANY ISSUES AND NOW THIS ? REALLY ?? MAKING THE ORIGINAL INACCESSIBLE ON AT LEAST AMAZON ???
#I think this may have been a glitch but fellow wiki staff showed me and IT'S STILL NOT FIXED#as I said in a previous reblog I don't think it's fixed because bendy books are NOT classic literature or popular in any sense of the word#reblogs#host reblogs#dctl redrawn

For DCTL redrawn, wouldn't it be great if everyone who participated had the chance to get a physical copy of the entire book ? There are services out there that can print personal books.
Only issues would be financing that and how many people can actually receive one. Any thoughts ?
I also want to specify the physical copy would not be available for the general public to buy, as that may infringe on copyright a bit too far. Only those who worked on the project would receive one as it would be their work too.
#the dream... but I doubt we ever could. gosh though I'd love to do this if ever possible so bad#reblogs#host reblogs#dctl redrawn

Hello! Any updates about the dctl redraw?
I do have a few questions about -
How many artists can join?
Will there be a deadline? Or is it gonna be like, when each artist finishes their panels.
I would also like to participate or help others in their part ^^
I'm still in the process of figuring out some stuff. I imagine that the deadline and amount of artists will be determined once I work out the proper plan for the project. I do have a feeling that most who offer to participate will help in some way at least though, we'll see !!
As for updates, I plan to start reading and noting down stuff like character and location descriptions, summaries for the chapters and more today.
And you'll be happy to know you're on the @ list for when I send out a call !!
#all still relevant other than working on summaries alone !!!#reblogs#host reblogs#dctl redrawn#asks

Also wanted to point out that the summary on the Google Play story is the summary for that rumored Alice Angel novel that never came to fruition.
So yeah, somehow they keep punting it in the end zone and snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
If they weren't so scummy I have to be moderately impressed.
Oh so THAT'S where the rumour came from.
#I mean I don't know for SURE if this is where it came from but either way#the description DOES seem to be fixed now !!! at least !!! not the 7 minute paid excerpt though.#I have a feeling these things aren't fixed just because of the sheer quantity of books out there on google. and how unknown and small the#bendy novels are compared to classics like to kill a mockingbird#if THAT book had the same issues it would surely be fixed#reblogs#host reblogs#dctl redrawn#asks

Really wish I hadn't pre-ordered the Bendy Graphic Novel, but now I can't cancel it
You know, I shouldn't be surprised that they don't care what they give their audience. They still haven't fixed the Google Play audiobook where you get to pay the full price for a 7 minute excerpt of Bendy The Lost Ones
#clicked the link and it still seems to remain unfixed#and. yeah. boycott SCHOLASTIC as a whole until they start being better.#reblogs#host reblogs#dctl redrawn

So, Christopher Hastings was one of the people to mess up DCTL. Plus some related rambling
Currently looking through William BA tweets for research on Chris and other stuff related to the book, and I'll compile what I found here.
This post says why. He was in charge of directing what would happen and how it would look in the book.
Chris fucked up with the pacing and tone, and ruined the twist. This project can make sure that the beginning doesn't show Buddy immediately and that those scenes actually do what the book describes.
An example of him messing up another book he did.
These are all posts from this account I found relevant.
I remember seeing a comment (forgot where from) that said he focused too much on the actions described rather than anything else in the book and I have to agree.
The ACTUAL artist who Drew the novel was Alex Arizmendi. This is some examples of his other art compared to the novel-
Even in the novel you can see his skill shine through in some parts, he was most likely just underpaid, doing a style he's not too familiar with and was directed to draw things the adaptor didn't care or know enough about.
This book is a mess and I wish they hired people who cared.
#scholastic itself is the one that requests graphic novel adaptations to be inaccurate. we don't know if Christopher Hastings#is the one to be requesting this or higher-ups in the company and I don't want to demonise him when We Just Don't Know.#however !! there is a clear difference in quality from Alex Arizmendi's portfolio work and the DCTL graphic novel's artwork. I do still#believe he either wasn't paid enough or was rushed to do this book.#this book is a mess and I wish they treated artists and stories with the respect they deserve (to make the last line relevant to now)#reblogs#host reblogs#dctl redrawn

Can you add my name to the call post when you make it?
I won't draw, but I'd still like to be a part of this or at least know what's going on.
Sure thing !! All support is appreciated :]
I'll think about if you could do anything, would be good to have some help outside of the art !!
#we can especially use non-artist help in our current step of the plan !! the discord server is linked in our pinned post but tumblr dms and#asks are always open :]#we're currently summarising the original chapters from the DCTL book#asks

I think the project seems like fun! I've been wanting to redraw a few pages/adapting a few scenes in the book in my own style for comics.
I do have a few questions though if thats ok!
If there ends up being a discord server, would it still be possible for someone who doesnt have a discord to participate?
Can each page be drawn with a a custom color pallete? Like if one artist wanted to draw a page with color but another drew in monochrome. Or is there going to be a set pallete?
If you ever need any artists I'd be happy to give it a try!
Thank you for the ask !!
I think it would be wonderful to have the project be more accessible, if someone can't or doesn't want to use discord I'm sure I could talk to them directly about the project, and act as a messanger for ideas said by them or in the discord. The server would be for convenience but accessibility will be possible, this was a very good question.
And for colours, styles, etc, let me make a quick list of stuff-
Colour palette- I imagine that the real world will use real world colours, but the studio might be more interesting to make sepia tones and stylised like in game. Maybe only in the last act it could work well too, seeing that the studio does feel a lot like the cycle at that point. I don't think I'll make artists stick to specific hex codes or shades of colours as bases, but I'll think about it.
Everyone draws their own styles, no need to learn one specific to the project as the nature of MAP style projects.
Character designs will be set as stated before, universally shared in the project.
That's all I can think of for now, and thank you for the offer !! I'll be sure to @ you when the call post is made.
#all still applies !!#colour palettes aren't yet decided but I do still like the idea I gave here.#reblogs#host reblogs#dctl redrawn#asks

Current plans (rambles and ideas) for the DCTL redrawn project
First off, I just came up with that title on the spot and it works super well so I'll stick with that probably pffh. Follow the tag if interested in participating !! Anyways, here's my rambles.
I wanna do some more research on Chris Hastings. Fellow Bendy wiki staff have pointed out that he adapts the books rather than illustrate them, which I didn't realise had any difference beforehand. Basically means directing stuff like backgrounds, setting, etc from my knowledge. They sourced this user that seems to know a thing or two about him and his work, along with getting an early copy of the graphic novel. I'll do proper research and make a seperate post soon for this.
Moving onto the project itself, I've got some jumbled thoughts I'll try and make sense of-
I'll reread DCTL to understand the book properly, all work going foreward from there
Design work will start after this, all characters will have set, universal designs based off of canon, official (such as meatly's word), book descriptions and more, such as racecoding (I'll do justice for Thomas and Norman) and time period. I'll likely be designing them alone, but I may listen to other participant inputs and ideas to make sure they're the best they can be.
This novel will be drawn from scratch !! We won't base or reference anything off of the original graphic novel, we'll only be using the original DCTL book and its word.
Every page will act as a "map part", basically having one artist do an entire page/pages. Some may want to collaborate with others (such as one person doing the backgrounds with the other doing characters) for their pages which is more than welcome.
Newer/less skilled artists are more than welcome to offer to participate, please don't let your skill level or own perception of your art discourage you !! I'd love to give you all a chance.
I may be pinging those who said they'd be happy to participate once I make the call post. Once ready to make that post, I'll be starting a discord server for communication. This will also include a google doc or something similar so we can get full quality pages from everyone rather than compressed images from the app.
The project's novel will begin with foreword. This will include background for why it was started, clearly state it was made as a protest against the original graphic novel, Mike's view of minorities in fiction and will also state it was made because we care and love this series, and want it to do better. It will credit and link to the artist who drew the original and explain why we believe the artist was mistreated and should've had more time and pay. Stuff of that sort.
Every page will have the artist's signatures/@'s in the margins, and the novel will have a glossary of all who participated.
Things may change, we'll see, but these are the rough plans I've got so far. Would love to hear your thoughts and ideas as usual !!
#the plan here is still fairly accurate to our current one !!#only differences are stuff like. I'm no longer planning all of this alone. and more steps have been added in between as was necessary.#each page will be for a single artist to work on but we still gotta figure out how colour palettes will work. how much flexibility there'll#be. etc etc#makeshift au's idea is currently the step we're working on in our server (see pinned to join) so thank you for that !!#reblogs#host reblogs#dctl redrawn

Hey fandom, who'd be interested in me hosting a map type fandom project to redraw the Dreams Come To Life graphic novel ?
I've had the idea to host something like this for a bit now. It would act as both a protest against the abysmal quality of the artwork and designs within the book, but also as a love letter to show Meatly and Mike that we want them to care as much as we do about their series. I'd love to hear your thoughts and if you'd be interested in participating.
#another reblog from the previous post#CORRECTION - Christopher Hastings was not the illustrator but the adapter. Alex Arizmendi was the illustrator for the DCTL graphic novel !!#it is still a protest against the work conditions and lack of diversity that part still applies#and for the second point ? i suppose it still applies but the whole “pirated not pirated” idea isn't one I fully agree with or think about#the aim of the project is to show love for the series as well as push for more diversity and respect for quality and good work conditions.#especially in scholastic#the foreword will reflect these aims#reblogs#host reblogs#dctl redrawn
