imagine being so soulless that you need A PROGRAM to write your fic LMFAO. sometimes i look at a still image of a character and am moved almost to tears lol do some people just not feel that?? not feel this thing so powerful that it forces you to create?? they see character and just say let me type this prompt into a chat window ????

I’ve been mulling it over for months now but sending odysseus home from ogygia is about sending him to his death and the gods know it and calypso knows it and odysseus knows it. he spends seven years suspended in time and place, ageless and immortal, and is offered the chance to remain that way forever and doesn’t take it. he chooses to be mortal, which is to say he chooses to be someone who will one day die. and that’s what heroes have to do, that’s what ultimately makes heroes objects of worship. they die.

sign-ups are going to look a little bit strange, so i'll guide you through it step by step:

FIRST: you will see the requests section, which is where you will put the prompts that you want to be gifted! it is super important to clarify within the prompt textbox what you do NOT want to get.

you are required to make at least two requests, that way your gifter has a choice in what they get to create!

for each request, you will select the fandoms from the checklist, what kind of gift you would like (art, fic, or either), the relationships you would like, and then your prompt.

here's a filled out example:

by selecting both fic and art, that means that i am okay receiving either one, and my gifter can choose which medium they would like to create with!

i have left the Dear Captain section blank, but that is where i would link an external document with prompts on it if the ao3-provided textbox doesn't cut it for me. (ie; i need extra formatting, word count, or i want to add images for prompts)

you'll notice the solo tag i added. that's how you'll be adding characters, since our real character slot is being taken by the medium checkbox! i've added Brian's solo tag because i want the gift to focus on him.

you can repeat this process up to nine more times!

NEXT: we're going to do our offers. offers are what we are comfortable creating. this is where we'll list all the things that we want to make gifts for.

for each offer, list the relationships relevant to the fandom that you checked off. for this offer, i've checked off the main mechanisms' fandom tag, and then added some ships in that category that i'd be willing to write for!

you should offer as much as you are comfortable creating for. the more you offer, the easier it will be to match you. only add offers for things that you feasibly would want to create!!

you are required to make three offers!

What? Fanart or fanfic featuring Jon and any cat(s)!  It could be the Admiral, it could be a scraggly alley cat behind the Institute Jon is slowly earning the trust of, it could be a mother cat and litter of kittens he and Martin found in the shed by the Scotland safehouse.

I find it funny that some people criticize Odysseus, specificly saying, “If he hadn’t yelled out his name to Polyphemus, he would’ve been home much sooner!-”

Shut up, no he wouldn’t.

It was prophesied that he would be lost at sea for ten years after the war, that's one of the main reasons he didn't even want to go to the Trojan War in the first place. Even if Odysseus didn’t yell out his name, he would still be at sea.

One of the main themes of the Odyssey is how you can't change fate. This is a very good example of it.
