Great video that really explores a theory I had while playing the game. While I’m not sure that the game was done in less than 365 days, I am VERY certain Dead Rising 4 was not given enough development time. I imagine a longer gestation period would have ironed out some significant flaws that are at the core of this game.

While my reasons differ from the article's, I definitely agree with it’s verdict. This DLC might be some of the worst in video game history. It was terrible, short, and never seemed to get even close to fun. As a long-time fan of the series, I have significant doubts about the franchise’s future.

I guess removing all the fun gameplay elements at the end of the story has precedent in Dead Rising games but that is not the way DR4′s DLC should have gone. “Frank Rising” needed to be a big hit to salvage Frank West and DR4. Instead, it probably put the final nail in the franchise’s coffin.

Okay, the DLC is finally out. Last chance to redeem “Frank West.” My very first impressions is that this addendum is not going to do that.

Gonna be honest, I’m going to be super pissed if we don’t learn what the deal is with this skyscraper in the Dead Rising 4 DLC.

I guess you can’t keep a good Frank West down. Or even the one they created for DR4. In my mind, they’ve got a lot of work to do to salvage the character who’s gone from gritty war journalist to snippy Instagrammer.

Yeah, they call it “more approachable.” I would call it less focused. It’s basically just a hodgepodge of features from the first three games wrapped up in a flashy package that forty year-old white guys thinks teenagers would like. It’s fun but nothing that is going to add to the franchise, if there still is Dead Rising going forward.

I made it through the Dead Rising 4 story mode and I’m still taking in the overall story and experience.  The biggest change I would have like to have seen? The ability to close doors.  I never realized this simple feature, which was in previous DR games, would alleviate stress at times when I just wanted some Frank Alone Time.

I've been back in Willamette for a few hours now and it feels good to be back. Even if the place is a little... off. While it's fun to be back in a mall killing zombies again, the story is all over the place and I'm worried about Frank. He seems to have some manic form of PTSD. The gameplay is simple (maybe too much) and the new mall looks good so far (at least the food court does). I'm sure I'll have more thoughts later but I wanted to check in before going back to face the Black Friday crowd.

So glad this turned out to be true.  Looks like it’s going to be a reimagined Dead Rising 1 with all the innovations of the last two games, too.

So now that the Dead Rising 4 leak is out of the bag, it looks like other places are filling in more details.  It sounds like a lot of people believe we will see Frank West again in Willamette Mall again.  I was initially pretty disappointed by this news as I was hoping the franchise would give us something new instead of a glorified HD remake.
But maybe there will be more to it.  After DR3 took the story off the rails, maybe getting back to the franchise’s roots will be a good thing.  If they just go with the core story (Frank trapped in the mall with zombies) and reimagine it from there, I could be down for that.  But just redoing the original with four person co-op?  This fan will complain that his belly was not full.

Is it too early to get my hopes up?

In English, there’s speculation that Dead Rising 4 could be in the works.  As many issues I had with DR3, I’d still love to see the franchise move forward and get more of my favorite zombie-killing game.

Here it is, the last chapter of the Season Pass.  Like I said, it has not been an overwhelming DLC lineup.  While the new weapons & combos are appreciated, the missions are short and basic. The Last Agent has a lot of work to do in order to change my mind about the overall expansion of the Dead Rising 3 game.
I don't know if it has been clarified anywhere but I'm guessing agent Brad Park is the fellow Nick gets the ZDC phone from in the beginning of the main game. Due to technical problems, I haven't finished the Smartglass missions yet so I wonder if this story overlaps with Jamie Flynt.  I'm also curious if we learn who is the narrator telling us the Lost Stories.  Could we see Frank West finally make an appearance in DR3?
I'm also wondering if this is it for DR3.  Seems like this outbreak is over and all of the untold stories from Los Perdidos will be told.  As disappointing as USoLS has been, I do not look forward to the long wait before hearing if & when there is going to be a DR4.  What do you think?  Have we heard the last of Nick Ramos & friends?

We all agree this is the worst mission in video game history, right?  Okay, maybe that's being a bit overdramatic but it sure as hell felt that way the first time I went through it.  (And repeated run-throughs have not made me enjoy it any more)
You just run into Isabella Keyes and the answers to the biggest mysteries in this game and the entire franchise and dangled in front of you. In order to get those answers, you have to run all the way across town without all the weapons you accumulated at this point. Then as you are about to re-enter to open world of Los Perdidos, the door is literally slammed shut.
You're then forced to go on a fetch-quest for random items to fix a random item to open the door randomly shut by some random guy for some random reason. At least in Super Mario Brothers 3 they didn't make you go back through the level you just finished so you could move on to look for your princess in another castle.
On top of the busy work, I think the biggest gripe I have is who's behind it. If it were General Hemlock or Marian Mallon or even someone who gets named, I might understand it. But I guess it's a random member of the Kings of Chaos who have long been relegated to faceless antagonists by this stage of the game. We haven't heard from any of them since killing their leader and, after this unnecessary roadblock, we never hear from them again.
I bit my tongue until the "Chaos Rising" DLC featuring the gang came out to make sure that there wasn't some other story explanation but clearly there is none other than the developers wanting to waste 10 minutes of our time,
Shame on you, Capcom Vancouver!  Shame on you!

Yes, not a Dead Rising post but the Batman Arkham games are one of the other few games that I will pick up every time a new edition is out.  In fact, I was all about Arkham Origins before I got my Xbox One and Dead Rising 3.  Looks like I'll be back in Gotham in October of this year.
It sounds like we'll pick up some of the dangling threads and Easter Eggs from Arkham City.  Scarecrow is confirmed, I believe, and I bet we'll see Hush, too.  I wouldn't be surprised if this plot was all the giberish Azrael was talking about, too.
The other thing that caught my attention was that this is stated to be the "final" chapter of the Arkham story.  What will Rocksteady move on to next?  Maybe graduate to a Justice League game?  What about WB Montreal?  Will they ever do another Arkham game? What do you think will happen from here on out for Batman's video game future?

I'll admit, I'm a little worried about the Dead Rising 3 DLC.  They're coming out awfully quickly and with almost no fanfare. I played through the first chapter and was not really impressed. I got stuck in the second chapter on a technical glitch and never went back to finish it.
I haven't seen any review of the first two installments above a 6 out of 10 so I get the feeling Capcom is just getting these out as soon as possible.  While I love the "Untold Tales" angle, I don't know if these small side stories with pretty insignificant impact on the overall mythology was the way to go.  What do you think of the DR3 DLC strategy?
