TO ALL THE CHEMISTRY FANS I NEED YOUR HELP
I just started 1st year of chemistry degree and one my friends is losing interest in it!
She’s always been very good at it but she starts getting difficulties in understanding theoretical aspect of chemistry! So that she wants to quit that degree in order to become a school teacher! That would mean losing another potential chemist which would be horrible!
I understand that it’s her choice and she will do whatever she wants, there’s no problem with that, but I don’t want her to completely lose interest in the magnificent thing that is science and chemistry.
Please tell me what to do! I try to show her beauty of chemistry, scientific experiments, I try explaining her the theoretical part and she understands but she still find that weird!
If you have any idea on what to do please tell me🙏🙏🙏

Hiiiiii!
I just found something very interesting that may help you to calculate logarithms derivatives for every bases (e, 10, or even 35,78)
First part let’s demonstrate that:
Log_a(x)= log_b(x)/log_b(a)
Let's use log_100(x) and log_10(x).
log_100(x) is the number of 100's I'd have to multiply together to get x -- so log_100(10000) = 2. log_10(x) is the number of 10's I'd have to multiply to get x -- so log_10(10000) = 4 which is exactly twice log_100(10000).
But this is no co-incidence. Since 100 has exactly 2 10s (with respect to multiplication), the number of 10s you need to multiply will always be exactly twice the number of 100s you need. In other words
log_10(x) = 2log_100(x) // I need to multiply twice as many 10s to get the same number
But why 2? Well there are 2 10s in 100 (when multiplying). In other words, log_10(100) = 2. So really what we're saying is that
log_10(x) = log_10(100) log_100(x)
In words, the number of 10s I need to multiply to get x is the number of 10s I need to multiply to get 100 times the number of 100s I need to multiply to get x.
And that logic works for any bases, not just 10 and 100. So
log_a(x) = log_a(b) log_b(x)
In words again, the number of a's that make up x equals the number of a's that make up b times the number of b's that make up x.
log_a(x)/log_a(b) = log_b(x)
Using a=e and b=10 this is exactly your formula
log_e(x)/log_e(10) = log_10(x)
Using that we’ve got: log_a (x) = ln(x)/ln(a)
Now deriving that new formula is much more easy
Using the derivate formula for u(x)/v(x) we’ve got:
(Log_a (x))’ = (ln(x)’ *ln(a) - ln(x) *ln(a)’)/ln(a)**2
Once simplified (as a reminder (ln(x))’=1/x and ln(a)’=0 as ln(a) is a constant ) we’ve got:
(Log_a (x))’= 1/ x*ln(a)

Hiiiii
Today I worked on quantum numbers and that was an amazing!🤩
Basically they are useful cause they help with getting an idea of the presence probability of en electron in an area!!! There are four quantum numbers n; l; m; s
Those four numbers describe a zone where an electron may be in an exact moment. 🤓
As an exemple: if you wanna send a letter you’ll put the location getting more precise little by little, Name the country, the city, the street, and finally the number.
It’s the same!!! n means the country (in that case the layer), L means the city ( in that case the underlayer), m means the street (in that case he’s called the magnetic number) and s means the number (in that case the spin)
⚠️Things to know : two electrons can not have the exact same address, that’s the Pauli exclusion principle⚠️
For exemple: for the oxygen which atomic number is 8 we’ve got that electronic location: 1s2, 2s2, 2p4.
Don’t forget it’s all about probability, those numbers describe a zone where the electron may be. That was really short and brief so if you like this topic you should explore this subject with more details!
