Eric's loneliness

I can understand Harris's feelings. It's an endless cycle of pointless attempts to make friends, integrate into society, and adjust to a new place, only to relocate and start the process all over again. There's no point in trying to make friends, as you'll eventually drift apart without forming strong connections. Every attempt to be closer and more vulnerable leads to nothing. Many people understand the pain of losing a romantic partner, but Eric and modern people live in a world where many underestimate the significance of friendship. Losing them can be even more painful than breaking up with a girlfriend or a boyfriend. A moment from the basement tapes and this essay makes it clear that Harris was never a psychopath. He could be a good friend, but his failures and disappointments made him awkward in social situations and caused him to feel jealous. A lot of his behavior indicates that he was somewhat lonely, and I don't mean in a romantic way. When you look at him from this point of view (adding the peculiarities of a teenager's psyche), the reasons for his violent and aggressive behavior become clear. Behind this mask was an ordinary boy who wanted to find someone who would not abandon him, understand him, and always be there for him.
