See also c!Wilbur being killed by c!Phil. You can make it make sense in character, but the honest fact of the matter is that a theater kid wanted to kill off his character in the most dramatic way possible and his friend played the scene out with him.

I feel like a lot of bad Phil takes are based around a decision cc!Phil made because he's a good scene partner and he hadn't spent a lot of time thinking about his rp character yet.

two of my biggest stances on dsmp analysis is that anything that happens in audience view is canon and that because of the nature of the medium (live collaborative rp), it's always good to take a doylist look at things.

the latter i've talked about a lot before in regards to things like the syndicate being friends (the argument being they're not, specifically c!niki and c!ranboo, because we never see them bonding) though it also applies to things like why certain events took place when they did. and how those things are understandable because of real life things that would've hampered or prevented them from happening.

but there's one moment in dsmp canon that drives that fact home, that really shows that sometimes things might happen more so either because real life interferes or because doing otherwise would impede on another person's planned story line: c!ranboo's death and c!techno's reaction to it.

specifically the fact he was in the presence of a character who can bring people back from the dead - something techno acknowledges - and doesn't ask. he says to c!phil as c!dream is walking away that dream can revive people but doesn't actually make an effort to go ask him. and when he's speaking to dream later, he also doesn't ask.

there's no doubt that techno is immensely fond of ranboo, that he cares about them. he's deeply upset and hurt by ranboo's death! it is out of character that he would acknowledge the ability to revive ranboo and not pursue that.

but doing so would've kinda put out other people's story plans so it doesn't happen. just like the syndicate bonding/training didn't happen or other events took longer to happen for reasons related to offline events.

i don't really know what the point of this post is other than to finally put some things into words that have been bothering me for years.

I thought my vision was even worse than it actually is, because people kept telling me something was red when to me it was clearly pink/magenta and a lot of it was just my monitor dying.

selkie au techno is funny because imagine you come to a place and set up a little cabin on the shore where you fish and you've painstakingly turned rocky soil into a garden and you meet a strange man who always comes to you a little bit damp and smelling of sea water but he laughs at all your jokes and is weirdly okay with you teasing him and people in the town whisper about him and say he's bad news and evil and you're like 'he thinks the height of humor is takin' off his pants' but whatever. the town is strange anyway. your old friend's son is the mayor and it's not going great, y'know?

one day the strange man stops visiting and you're actually bummed about it and then you go into town and there's a new attraction at the circus run by the guy who gives you real bad vibes but you pop in and the new attraction is actually your friend and he's a seal or whatever.

wild times, man.

if you think about it, the 'i blew up the dream smp' stream is basically c!george having a nightmare about being cucked by c!techno.

Since it’s Dream’s birthday I’m just thinking about how c!Dream spent his 22nd in the prison with c!Techno. I imagine he sang for c!Dream

It was a quiet affair - but Techno tried to make it special. He gave Dream his crown to wear, telling him that while he didn't believe in monarchies, he'd make an exception "cuz Birthday King's had their own rules." He tried his best to clean Dream up, braided his hair. And then gifted Dream his cape. Then they sat together (ie. Techno bundled him up into his lap) while he softly sang Dream 'Happy Birthday'. (If Dream's eyes were suspiciously wet in the end - no one said anything.)

To date Dream still says it was one of the best.

Now that Steve no longer has worry about food and shelter - he can finally dedicate time to his passion of Haute couture.

Honestly I just had an urge to draw a digitigrade leggy, so I did a quick sketch and it came out kind of good. Behold, piglin butt

Techno can hold out his hope for peace because his words have always worked on two people in his life.

One is his oldest and dearest friend, Philza, who will always hear him out even if they end up on different sides.

The other, of course, is that weird green homeless guy Dream, who stops to listen even when they're actively fighting on opposite sides.

Violence is the only universal language. It's the only language he seems to be able to make some people listen to, but he knows that other languages can be heard, so he can keep trying.

one of the genuinely most important things about c!techno is his relationship to violence.

because when he says 'violence is the only universal language', he means that violence is what people understand. that he's been shown over and over that violence is what people listen to. he's experienced it firsthand. he doesn't seem to revel in it, it's more like he's resigned to it as a fact.

and on doomsday, it's violence that gets him the 'win'. he succeeds! his goal of destroying the government and making certain there will never be another is complete.

but instead of taking this as proof that violence is the only way, techno still wants to change. he admits to being a bad example and wanting to do better going forward. it's such a great moment showing that techno's desire to change came from himself, not because he was unsuccessful in his goals.
