So I had the idea to do a Deni$e x Rosie the Riveter cosplay at the beginning of the year for the 4th of July. But then a lot of bad things happened this year… culminating in the ICE raids in Los Angeles in June. Let’s be honest, it’s hard to be patriotic for America this Fourth of July. America is going through it. Fascism is on the rise without signs of stopping. Currently, immigrants are in the “show me your papers” part of USA history, if they’re even asked. However,

This country was built on the backs of immigrants. They forged a narrative we can’t ignore. Yes we ask the question “How will we explain this fascist future to our disenfranchised population?” But we can also ask the question “How will we explain our people's history to our fascist future?” Where does the feminist icon Rosie the Riveter fit in a fascist agenda? What about the quote on the Statue of Liberty? “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free” whose tablet's inscription is the Fourth of July. America has a record of supporting those whose rights are on the line. This was America.

Imogen

Imogen is the Chappell Roan performance of Pink Pony Club. There’s a horse. It’s Sapphic. Case closed.

Laudna

Laudna is Lady Gaga. It’s giving gothic Victorian realness. Laudna and Gaga would be friends irl.

Fearne

Technically it’s Chappell again sooo let me offer an alternative as well

Sierra Ferrell. I know you don’t like it. But Fearne would LOVE to wear this to the Grammys. Also I don’t know anything about Sierra Ferrell but she is giving camp realness.

Chetney

Teddy Swims. While I have you thinking about what Bells Hells would wear to the Grammys, I feel that Chet would have the complete gumption to wear allll the ice Teddy Swims wore. Of course Chet is dripping in pearls. Because he can.

Dorian

This Benson Boone performance. You can’t convince me he’s not singing to Orym. And he rolled nat 20’s on every backflip performance check. This Benson Boone performance is actually the origin story of this whole post.

Braius

Billie Eilish is a sweetie. But the black and white. The villainous eyes. Braius (and Billie) will get you in trouble.

Ashton

I am a Julia Fox truther! Uncut Gems! Her memoir is on my TBR. Her apartment tour is iconic. Ashton would totally rock this look. Julia is iconic. Nope, not taking any notes!

Orym

The goodest boy. I feel like I’ve seen Liam/ Orym make this face at least once per episode. And of course Orym would be the voice of the wacky fashions we just saw.

Final notes on “ live blog Sacanime update” day

We had dinner at The Iron Horse Tavern. The food was perfect. The mocktails were perfect. The service was perfect. The ambiance was perfect. No notes. Pics below of Korean Street Tacos, Loco Moco, and Braised Beef Stroganoff

Ok now the Sacanime Tea:

I learned what all the artwork was that I kept seeing. It was Genshin Impact. Genshin Impact also had a cosplay meetup that absolutely swamped the size of other meetups.

There really weren’t that many critters. We’re a small (but mighty!) community. And looking back, there wouldn’t be; it was Genshin Con.

Also at the end of the con, the Laura and Travis line were open to anyone. Autographs weren’t limited. But they tried with the lottery. It feels (in my opinion) the lottery was just to dissuade having to do too much line control. I heard a few fans say they didn’t get an autograph because they didn’t want to risk it on a lottery. I almost didn’t go for the same reason. So to hear that for their final autograph times the lines were empty so staff was letting anyone without a wristband take a spot was interesting. You know how companies will create fake scarcity to drive up demand? Sacanime managed to do the exact opposite of that.

But at the end of the day, I got to meet Laura Bailey and that was super dope.

Live blog Sacanime update

We walked around the expo center, artist alley, style aisle and underground market.

Underground market was mostly naked anime body pillows. No pics for that

Style aisle was cute.

Artist alley was great. Didn’t know most of the content tho but I found out later

Expo was good! Found some cool cosplayers and cool artists, linked below

And Otabi does the cutest sweaters and Izel does Aztec inspired designs including Pokémon

My sibling also got me a dice! It’s so cool cus it looks like an LED dice but it isn’t. Dice and maker below

Went to the Critical Role gathering ! Of course I only took pictures with me in it. But also, I got rid of almost all my gummy bears yay!

I found one (1) keyleth to give my Goldfish crackers to and she liked them!

Which reminds me I also gave Laura and Travis gummy bears and Laura said she was starving so she was v excited for them lololol

I also asked about ECCC coming up on their ten year anniversary and all she said was that they (critical role) love ECCC and have exciting guests planned for their 10 year anniversary.

Decided next con where it’s hot I’m cosplaying someone with a fan. (Looking at you Laudna)

There’s no ADA/Vip line for Laura and Travis. But there is for everyone else.

Also found out about half the Laura/ Travis lines is Full Metal Alchemist fans. A quarter is misc media. And the last quarter is critters. Niche. Community. 😂

I am in line for Laura Bailey!

I got to do a round around the autograph and artist alley

The voice actresses for 5 Disney princesses got a wall. The voice actors for Hazbin Hotel got a wall. Laura and Travis got the big corner.

There are like 50 artist alley booths and maybe 3 of them have critical role merch . One of them tho is Nox Arcana who I love ! I got an Imogen postcard from them!

But yeah overall it feels like I am in a niche group of a very dedicated but small fans known as critters. I found a whole 7 cosplayers of our very tiny tiny community

Live blog Sacanime update

Round 1 : lost, drew a white marble. Got in the back of the line.

Round 2: lost, again. Rinse repeat.

Round 3: lost again.

Round 4: there is no Travis line btw so people who win a Laura band are getting to directly pick a Travis marble if they want. Also lost

Round 5: I did it ! I got a red marble for the Laura Bailey 11am signing !

Oh! Also story time. I’m just hanging out with fellow critters chatting bout what autographs we got and Raven Queen goes “guys don’t look now but Robbie Daymond is walking right towards us”

And Robbie Daymond walked right towards us! He said hi and we all look great and I’m sure I said something corny like “ there you are sir!” And it was super dope. He’s got a sick haircut. It’s giving California beach boy.

So yeah! We did the damn thing y’all! Now to actually meet Laura 😅

Currently I’m chillaxing and reupping on deoderant. It’s a high of 87• and I’m wearing a leather jacket. Gotta love California summer cons

Turns out there’s two lines, one for Laura, one for Travis.

Laura’s line is Longgggggg. Travis’ line is about a third of the length.

Now if I were playing the odds I should get in Travis line. But I’m already in my cute Vex cosplay.

So we’re drawing marbles , red wins a wristband to purchase an autograph ; white gets to go to the back of the line and try again

I thought this up in about an hour so there’s room for improvement but so far ..
