rambles aside this is also one of the best character introductions in the manga so far

my working theory is that both melinda and donovan worked on project apple together in an attempt to create a “pure” ostanian super-race to defeat westalis but once the desmonds lost power they couldn’t fund the project anymore and instead tried to turn their eldest into a machine for eventual use in the future, their final card to play. demetrius looks the most like melinda so i’m sure that caused some kind of internal crisis or guilt within her if we are to view her as a sympathetic character. it probably caused a split within the marriage that couldn’t go public because of pr, leading to resentment and melinda hating-loving damian who looks like both his mom and dad.

SPY X FAMILY (CH. 91)

Lots happened in this chapter, but what really caught my attention was how there were so many characters here from SXF's different storylines. From the Authens, to the city hall workers, to Melinda and the Lady Patriots Society, and even Garden, it's rare to see these different parts of the SXF universe intersect. It really makes me wonder about the trajectory of this story and what it means to have all these threads so close to each other. Like, is this just Endo gearing up for a new big arc, or is it telling about the story's direction in general?

in life you’ll find that siblings are often the same people in different fonts. that’s why i’m dwelling on twilight’s words here. “is this what being raised by yor does to someone?” isn’t a question that’s rooted in shock or frustration, but awe.

awe (n.) – a feeling of reverential respect mixed with fear or wonder.

twilight is used to targets staying down once he strikes them. he’s a notorious legend in ostania and wise’s best for a reason. yuri rising to his feet again as if he is antaeus (the mythological ancient greek giant who became more powerful every time he was knocked down in a fight) is one thing, but for twilight to view it as an extension of his wife rather than a quality unique to yuri himself is a sign of near deference.

(tldr: what’s it called when little details remind you of someone close to you? when suddenly things aren’t simply things but phantom limbs attached to your significant other that you can feel too? i believe it’s a four-letter word that rhymes with dove, but what do i know.)
