I fully believe it's referencing the holocaust, where prisoners were referred to as numbers instead of names.
Because, for fascist, their victims aren't "human," they are "trash to be disposed." Similar eugenecist language is used by every single staff in Squid Game.
to add onto dehumanization of the people in the game, the gamemasters ONLY use players’ real names as a weapon. they use their identities against them when displaying their debts and footage. they’re used to shame the players, remind them of what they’ve done. it’s almost as if they’re saying “you want to be a person? fine. let us remind you what kind of person you are.” outside of that notion, they are nameless.

I was thinking about this.
Imagine Sangihun in their youth, sharing everything, their toys, their food, their house, their bed.
I can't.
RATAAAA. I cant do this. IT WAS DEFINITELY SANGWOO HE WAS TALKING ABOUT. HIS REAL GGANBU
Gi-hun was for sure the type of kid to want to share everything with sangwoo. he would still do it, trust me. if sangwoo asked, he would give him the shirt off his back. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH.
thanks so so much for this.

In Argentina, cops dropped a gun in the middle of a protest for anyone to pick it up, building a narrative and justifying violence.
In Colombia, we got our first ever left-wing government in our history. In other governments, protests went south, and a lot of people got killed. But during these three years, there has been both pro and anti government protests, none of them resulted in a great scale of violence nor dehumanizing those protesters saying how they are "violent."
I wonder why.

In-Ho and Gi-Hun are not "parallel," they are juxtaposition.
Even though their common ground come from both being winners of the game, there is an abysmal difference on how these individuals interpreted their position. Gi-Hun became a winner against his will, and In-ho became a winner by any means possible.
Gi-Hun can not bring himself to spend the "blood money," In-Ho disregard the moral weight because he needs the money and "saving it won't bring them back to life."
Gi-Hun represents the struggle of working-class individuals. In-Ho is a cop.
Gi-Hun dedicates his life in avenging those lives lost and will risk his life to ensure no one else suffers that fate. In-Ho finds pleasure from psychologically destroying these individuals.
For Gi-Hun, the players are people. For In-ho, they are trash to be removed from existence.

This conversation, she had been led around by the broker and the games (masked officer) for 7 years, using her for their own benefit just because she desperately wants to find her daughter and can do anything for her. And the moment she proves to be an obstacle for them she is abandoned and no one cares if someone gives her rape threats or even tires to kill her. They wanted to use her for her strength and skills and prey on her desperation with the lie of "helping her" but the moment she tries to stop them from profiting off the dead players the entire lie is finally shed. They gave her a false hope for a better life only to lead her into an even more miserable one. The audacity to use her child to blackmail her into letting them traffic organs. I hope she kills everyone on that island.

This is also the type of shit sangwoo would have 100% said to gihun if he were to partecipate in the second games instead of the 2021 ones

The Hwang brothers storyline is so important and has so much potential, but netflix just doesn't care. No promotional material with them together, no interviews on their arc, not a single poster and barely any buzz in the trailers. And junho is one of the main characters btw
The lack of visibility makes me extremely disappointed. Netflix only remembers Junho's existence when they have to talk about his face card.

SQUID GAME FANDOM, PLEASE READ!!
AS THE FINAL COUNTDOWN TO SEASON 3 APPROACHES, and our excitement (and anxiety) grows, there are some things we need to keep in mind, especially surrounding SPOILERS.
not everyone is going to be lucky enough to watch season 3 as soon as it drops. some people may be working. some people may be on vacations or busy. some people may just need more digesting time!
this is why TAGGING THINGS APPROPRIATELY is so important, at least for the first couple weeks of release. nobody wants a spoiler. getting spoiled for your favorite tv show is one of the worst things to ever experience.
BECAUSE OF THIS, PLEASE TRY TO KEEP IN MIND SOME ETIQUTTE:
—tag ANY spoilers, big or small, behind a tag—something like #squid game spoilers or #squid game 3 spoilers. it would also be best if you SPECIFIED on your blog what your spoiler tag is so people can block accordingly, at least until they’ve watched!
—when sending asks or replies to other blogs, MENTION THAT YOU ARE GIVING A SPOILER. this helps not only the receiver, but the audience reading those posts as well.
—DO NOT! DO NOT! and i repeat once more: DO NOT! SPOIL THE SHOW FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN’T CLARIFIED THEY’VE WATCHED!! especially when it comes to major plot points and character death—as someone whose favorite character died four years ago, i am in full solidarity with those whose favorite characters have high possibilities of dying, and it really sucks to get told that without watching.
i myself am going to be deleting/muting all social media until AFTER i finish completely finishing. i will be making videos/notes that i will post later. i will be fully unreachable until then. after that, my blog will be very spoiler-heavy.
THE TAG I WILL BE USING (AND HAVE BEEN USING) IS — #squid game spoilers
please block if needed!!
thank you so much. i am SO FUCKING EXCITED and SO FUCKING SCARED !!!!

As of now, I don't think In-Ho would commit suicide as a way to redeem himself (he cannot be salvaged), but rather he'd chose a path that leads to his death.
Like, maybe Jun-ho asking him to leave with him, and he prefers to be blowned up in the Island instead.

Just rewatch all S1 and S2 of Squid Game and these are my thoughts.
Tumblr media
Seriously I can't get over on how he taunted Gi-Hun at every single chance he got to make him have an adverse reaction.
"And saving that money won't bring them back to life"
"Some people chose umbrella? They must have bitten the dust"
"I think you are overreacting, even if that was true, people wouldn't do that" [referring to players killing each other in a brawl because the game allows it]
