Hello! I hope everyone is doing okay during this dystopian time! 😷 🧡😷 ❤️😷🧡 😷❤️ 😷🧡 I’ve been going back and rewatching all of Steven universe ⭐️ in full because it’s the complete series now! (Won’t have to worry about any hiatuses anymore haha...I joke about that now but when it was going on it was truly torture 😭) Anywho I wanted to post some SU content every now and then and share my thoughts on the series and the characters now that we won’t be hearing anything new from them. Imma start with: pink pearl or “volleyball” if you will from SU Future. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Tbh the issue that I had with SU was that there was so many character arks I wish was explored more, or some characters that didn’t even really get a chance to be explored as much I thought they’d be. Never did I think the epilogue would be where we finally learn about pink pearl and all of it was stuffed into one episode. Volleyball is definitely one characters I wish got my screen time then The towns people. I would have loved to hear or learn more about her since she’s a treasure trove of the events that lead up to pink and her own colony, and more insight into the other diamonds back when they was villains. In honor of Steven universe series (future as well) coming to an end I wanted I dedicate this weekend and next week to fan art I created for the long journey it’s been for Steven and the crystal gems. ✨✨✨✨✨✨ This tv show has been with me throughout my highschool years into my college years and definitely was a show that inspired me to pursue the arts like its creator Rebecca sugar ❤️💕 Like every show. I feel like no one is talking about Tony and Steve’s confrontation scene, but it’s so important!!! can we please just take a moment and appreciate this, because it was such a much needed scene. “I needed you. You weren’t there.” holds so much depth and hurt. Tony felt betrayed and alone, he felt like he lost a friend he could count on. Steve broke his trust and Tony wasn’t just hurt, he was genuinely mad at him. And finally after so long, he let out everything he wanted to say. He embraced his pain and confronted his trauma. And i’m glad we could see him being so emotional, because this has been something that’s been hurting him for such a long time. As for Steve, he finally realized how deeply he hurt Tony. He could see how much impact it had on him and he could feel it up close at last. Tony needed to snap at him and Steve needed to hear this out, so they could both finally move on. It was such a heartbreaking, intense, yet beautiful and cathartic scene.

Let me tell you about Black Panther.

Guys—I’m very emotional. VERY emotional. Black Panther was everything I imagined it would be and more. The sharp Afrofuturism? Everything. The attention paid to bringing together traditions of various tribes across Africa through rituals, beliefs, garb, and language to build Wakanda? Everything. The inclusion of honoring the ancestors and the Orishas? Everything. Even the small details like noting the jaded belief that all of Africa is some third world, poverty stricken, disease infested cess pool when it is literally and truly the mother of innovation and possesses wealth beyond measure…just, everything.

I especially appreciated the exploration of division within the diaspora, specifically as it relates to Africans and African-Americans. How Africans have a stronger connection to their heritage and their innate power as a culture which in turn makes many Africans view African-Americans as flawed. Tainted. Ignorant. Impure. How afflicted African-Americans are internally and how these layered afflictions manifest externally. Conversing with these two ideas and looking at where they meet. The recognition that there’s unity in WISDOM—that our history, whether Black, White, or otherwise informs how we direct the future. How we transform the present. How we break the cycle.

Oh my God…the Dora Milaje. Those women literally brought TEARS to my eyes. I saw myself. Do you hear me? I SAW MYSELF. Beautiful, tall, STRONG Black women of ALL shades and sizes as PROTECTORS. WARRIORS. Their bodies utilized as a source of STRENGTH. Their armor NOT sexualized and their femininity not defined by hair, titties, ass, or a submissive nature. Women that are respected and revered, employing their innate instinct of survival and protection to keep self, each other, their king, and their people out of harms way. Women exuding all of this honor and power while STILL being soft, vulnerable, and very much feminine. Representation matters: for the first time ever I saw how I view myself and how I want others to view me and treat me and women like me, fully and wholly on a media platform. And a big-budget, major motion picture AT THAT.

Oh my babygirl Shuri…SHURI! This gorgeous, young, Black woman as the heartbeat of their operation. A Black woman who thrives in science and technology. A GENIUS. A REVOLUTIONARY. AN ICON. The love of Black women in this film was just…ugh. UGH.

I mean, just seeing my people throw all the way down, kicking ass and being great with unwavering confidence and regality while still being multi-dimensional and complex was everything. Ev. Er. Y. Thing.

What a moment. What an experience.

Okay: I’m gonna stop before I bust out with the spoilers. Go see this film. Especially you, my nigga. Yes—YOU. AND YOU. ALL Y’ALL! If you haven’t seen it already, GO SEE IT.
