           at least if anything ryan was consistent in surprising him ( a usually rare event ). he’d assumed the last minute trip to comdex a couple of weeks ago followed by an impromptu meeting with the old gang to be a bit suspicious but he’s relieved that there was more trust between them that initially thought. though perhaps that’s just because of the general pessimism people have towards him just because he’s joe macmillan, and it’s to be expected that he may lie to get out of a situation. still, the tense weight that’d settled into his shoulders departs and he moulds back into the warmth of home.
              ‘  we just have history, it’s nothing to worry about —  ’ joe shimmies his bag onto the floor, collapsing into the corner of the sofa, legs spreading across the cushions as he finally gets a second to relax.
Tumblr media
       “I’m not.” Ryan scoffs as he rolls his eyes, dropping his arms back to his sides and following Joe.
       There’s sees no reason to worry at all, even if it is Cameron; she isn’t a threat. Ryan knows well enough that once Joe commits to someone, he’s loyal. In past he sees the man go from frequent one-night-stands to only sharing intimacy with him once Ryan declares himself read to take that next step into exploring their mutual budding interest. He trusts Joe.
       Perching himself on the armrest of the couch, he can tell Joe’s probably tired after everything, yet Ryan’s eager to hear more about what he’s working on. “You never told me what the meeting is about,” he nudges casually, a small smile on his lips.

super detailed questions
@bruisedsong
3) Did they have a good childhood? What are fond memories they have of it? What’s a bad memory?
His childhood was fairly normal as far as family life goes, but outside of that it was lacking. Ryan didn’t have many friends, both because of his social anxiety and not leaving his house much. Although his parents were strict and not always supportive of him and his sisters, often trying to control their lives.
He does think fondly about the times he’d spend with his sisters or whenever they had birthday parties and sometimes there were trips to the big city of San Francisco when his parents could afford it.
A bad memory he has is his parents homophobic treatment towards his youngest sister, Rina. When they found out she was a lesbian, they were angry and there was a lot of yelling that made Rina cry. It put a lot of tension between them that didn’t really go away until Rina was an adult who left the house. His parents still aren’t very accepting of Rina’s sexuality, but they aren’t as hostile as they use to be.
6) What were they like at school? Did they enjoy it? Did they finish? What level of higher education did they reach? What subjects did they enjoy? Which did they hate?
Ryan was very much a loner, but he did like school a lot for the fact he loves to learn. He didn’t need friends to be happy, but he did feel like an outcast a lot.
He has a Master’s Degree in Computer Science to the chagrin of his parents, who wanted him to become a doctor. For that reason, Ryan hated science classes dealing with the human body. His best subjects were math and history, but he liked English most mainly because he had great teachers who made it fun.
19) What’s their least favourite genres?
Romance and suspense-thrillers. Ryan isn’t a very romantic person—the very top makes him feel awkward—and he simply doesn’t have the patience for the latter. More often than not he winds up irritated or figures out the plot too quickly.
20. Do they like musicals? Music in general? What do they do when they’re favourite song comes?
He’s neutral about musicals; doesn’t dislike them, but doesn’t actively seek to watch them either.
Music is a good distraction for Ryan, though not a necessity in his life. He has pretty eclectic taste when it comes to music genres.
Depending on which song it is, Ryan might headbob or tap his feet to the rhythm, some minor motion that he enjoys the tune. Rarely does Ryan singalong or dance to music.

@dagazhagalaz
What’s their full name? Why was that chosen? Does it mean anything?
Ryan Suraj Ray — Ryan is an Irish name that means “little king,” given to him in honor of a family friend who passed the day Ryan was born. Suraj [soo-ruhj] means “sun” and was the name of his maternal grandfather. Ray [”beam of light”] is an American name his parents gave him and his siblings to avoid racial prejudice they once faced living in the States; technically his surname should be Rai, which is derived from Sankrit raja [“king”]
What do they find funny? Do they have a good sense of humour? Are they funny themselves?
Usually nerdy jokes, but also humor that involves wit. Ryan can always appreciate a good retort. His sense of humor is a bit lacking though as he doesn’t find many things funny, or rather he doesn’t laugh at much regardless if he thinks it’s funny. Ryan, himself, is bad at joking and humor, which he’s fully aware of, but he does laugh at his own jokes—mostly from embarrassment.
What underwear do they wear? Boxers or briefs? Lacey? Comfy granny panties?
Growing up in the ‘80s, he wore briefs [whitey-tighties to be exact], but as he got older Ryan switched to boxer shorts. Nothing fancy, nothing flattering: something plain or with simple designs.

// what element are you ( link )
repost, don’t reblog.

Your element is AIR: You are whimsical and adventurous. Though despite your very drifty mindset you are quite stable and at ease. You are influential, and able to accommodate almost anyone. Very versatile. You could stand to be a bit less flaky with people. A bit less lazy with smaller responsibilities. And you could use some focus in your own life in contrast to the solid advice you give others. That aside you are fun, strong willed and despite your child like demeanor quite wise.

               ‘  it was about cameron  ’ he admits, calm and observing the reaction. nothing had happened - obviously, perhaps in a once upon a time but they’d changed - that didn’t mean that he couldn’t provoke the insecurity inside tom’s mind, the part that thought something might have existed between them. they’d fought over conflicting arguments but joe knows that it’s the idea of them that triggered the first push ‘  nothing happened  ’ he feels the need to defend, to try and settle the connotation of all the in between.
Tumblr media
       Really? That’s the big reveal for Joe stalling? “It was about Cameron,” Ryan intones dryly, slowly, his eyes impassive. “Is that it?” He can’t describe the utter disappointment at this anti-climax. Expecting something grandiose, all he gets is the troublesome history revolving around Joe and Cameron, which frankly, Ryan doesn’t care a whole lot about. They are before his time. [Maybe if it involves Gordon, Ryan will be shaken because it’s Gordon—the man Ryan formerly believes Joe abandons him for, thinking himself a tool in a cunning scheme concocted by old friends, but he’s since realized the fallacy of that.] He arches an eyebrow, mildly daring, amused. “Why would I think something happened? Even if it did, I wasn’t around for it to matter.” Callous in its bluntness, yet wholly honest. Ryan hasn’t even been out of prison for a full month.
