Eldritchrune - Roll With It

Story Setup Eldritchrune Masterpost

Kris and the Fun Gang make it to Spade King's castle, where they find a bit of interference from some foes they've faced before! But luckily, they can perhaps get a better outcome this time...although there's still Rouxls Kaard himself to deal with!

Sheeeeesh, it's been WAY too long since I was able to get an Eldritchrune scene done, so it's good to finally get something out! This was in the works for awhile before the new chapters, hence why we're back with a chapter one-era scene!

BUT, this is a two-parter! Next part will be out tomorrow!

Page 1

Panel 1 - A long vertical shot showing the entrance to the Spade King’s castle…an imposing fortress of spade-shaped spires and turrets. The gates are wide open, and no one seems to be around. Susie, Kris and Lancer all stand before it, facing the entrance. Lancer is also sitting up on Susie’s head.

Panel 2 - Middle shot of Lancer sitting on Susie’s head, right between her eyes. He spreads his arms, tongue out, and declares “And here we are! My dad’s castle!”

Panel 3 - A wide side view of the Fun Gang still looking up at the castle entrance ahead of them. Nothing changes.

Panel 4 - The same panel as previous, but Lancer now speaks up: “Huh, usually there’s a lot more of those diamond or heart guys around throwing things or yelling at me to get lost.”

Panel 5 - A medium panel of Kris, Susie and Lancer, still facing towards the right. “Maybe they’re all on lunch break?” Susie muses.

Panel 6 - The same panel as previous, but now all three look surprised, eyes widening. From offscreen, there’s a new voice: “Thinkest again, worms!”

Panel 7 - At the entrance to the castle, just beyond the open portcullis, stands Rouxls Kaard: a lesser demon. He’s dressed in clothes similar to his canon ones, but they look ratty and disheveled. His hair also looks stringier and more worm-like. He looks back at the Fun Gang with sunken, black eye and a toothy smile.

Panel 1 - Middle shot of Lancer leaning forward on Susie’s head as Susie snarls at the demon. “Ooh plumcakes! It’s lesser demon!” Lancer says.

Panel 2 - Middle shot of Rouxls waving his hand dismissively, still smiling. He says, “I hath biddest the King’s minions to maketh themselves busy elsewhereth…”

Panel 3 - A wider shot from behind Rouxls, facing the Fun Gang. He points towards Kris specifically, and finishes, “...so that WE might finisheth our little bargain for your SOUL!”

Panel 4 - Middle shot of Kris, with Ralsei behind them. Krises raises an open palm and looks more annoyed than anything, saying, “I told you, I already sold my soul to Ralsei. It’s not up for bargaining.”

“That’s right!” Ralsei says from just behind Kris.

Panel 5 - Susie and Kris watch in the foreground as Rouxls saunters over to something as of yet unseen: an odd round stone, stationary among the other cobblestones. “WELL, perhaps you worms will reconsidereth my offer when you feasteth your eyes upon…”

Panel 6 - “...Whatever THIS is!” he finishes, hand gesturing to the inert stone. Upon closer inspection, it’s clear that this is C Round…a round stone with two clawed arms, and the carving of a frightening face and crown on its side.

Panel 1 - A small panel focusing on Kris’s face. They look shocked…they recognize that creature.

Panel 2 - Focus on Lancer, still atop Susie’s head. He raises a hand to his spade to look closer, and says, “Oh wow, that looks like that creature we fought earlier that got all big and broke your arm and crushed your legs into tomato soup, Kris!”

Panel 3 - “It does,” Kris says, looks rather perturbed. In the background, a flashback shows Kris after the results of their first encounter: leaning against a rock, screaming in pain, with a broken arm and their legs crushed into blood and pulp. Ralsei hovers close by, clearly not able to stop this from happening in time.

Panel 4 - A middle shot of Rouxls back at the portcullis, smiling and raising one finger. “That is becauseth it is one and the samest, thou pathetic human!” he says.

Panel 5 - A closeup on Ralsei, looking surprised. “Kris already defeated it! How did you find it again?!” he says. In the background, another flashback reveals Susie knocking the enlarged K Round off of a cliff with a big swing of her tail.

Panel 6 - In the foreground, Susie and Kris look on as Ralsei waggles a finger and raises his foot over the inert C Round. He declares, “Unimportanteth! Let us concludest our deal for your soul, young human, or I shallest activateth its madnesses!”

Panel 1 - A full shot of the Fun Gang, still watching on. In the foreground, Rouxl’s boot hovers threateningly over C Round. “The answer is still ‘no’.” Kris says firmly.

Panel 2 - “Oh cursedness, some worm hath leftist a banana peel here for me to troddeth upon!” Rouxls says, making a huge show out of swinging his left leg around and pretending to trip on an invisible peel. He throws a hand over his forehead as if in mock surprise.

Panel 3 - Closeup as Rouxls brings his boot down on the inert C Round with a hefty WHAM!

Panel 4 - The C Round’s closed eyes open in response, and it begins to shiver and shake…

Panel 5 - In a full size panel, the small C Round suddenly springs up into the much larger and more intimidating K Round. It’s singular sleeping face splits into six demonic wailing faces across its surface, and more legs sprout out of its side. Rouxls watches on with satisfaction.

Panel 6 - “What convenient clumsyness on my parteth!” Rouxls says, tilting his head and pointing to himself with mock innocence.

Panel 7 - Full shot of Kris facing the castle, with Susie’s large snout close by them. They prepare to move as the enraged K Round begins rolling on its edge toward them at a terrifying speed, the ground rumbling in its wake. Rouxls watches with his hands clasped in front of him.

Panel 1 - Middle shot of Susie as Lancer leaps from her head and runs off towards the right. “Stay hidden!” Susie declares.

“Okay Susie!” Lancer responds, waving to her as he goes.

Panel 2 - Kris just barely dodges out of the way, towards a snarling Susie, as K Round rolls past them, still rumbling as it goes.

Panel 3 - Wide shot of the Fun Gang spread out on the cobblestone ground, eyeing the K Round that’s rolled between them. Having missed Kris, it begins to turn around. “We need some sort of strategy…” Kris says.

Panel 4 - “I would rather NOT lose my legs again,” they finish, eyeing K Round. The great rolling slab tilts and begins to hurtle back in their direction.

Panel 5 - Middle shot of Ralsei as he begins to formulate a glowing magical energy between his claws. It shines against his black void-like form. “I may be able to help, Kris…just keep it occupied for a bit!” he says.

Panel 6 - As K Round hurtles ever closer to Kris, they spin their head around and notice something–

Panel 7 - In a reverse shot from Kris’s perspective, they see a large stone piece that’s stuck out from the ground moreso than the rocks around it. This could be useful.

Panel 1 - Closeup on Kris as they shout: “SUSIE!” and then give her the ACT command.

Panel 2 - Full body shot as Kris rolls out of the way of the rolling K Round. On the other side of it, Susie charges forward and manages to outpace it.

Panel 3 - Closeup as Susie slams her foot into the ground with a giant WHAM right at the spot where the extra large stone meets the ground.

Panel 4 - Wide shot as Susie and Kris observe what she’s done: pushed the stone high up into a natural ramp. K Round hits the ramp at breakneck speed and goes flying into the air–

Panel 5 - Only to then crash into one of the nearby castle turrets with a loud KKRRAWK! Bits of stone and castle go flying in the wake of the crash.

Panel 6 - Middle shot as both Susie and Kris look wordlessly towards where K Round crashed, their expressions focused. Did they manage to stop it?

Panel 7 - In the wreckage of the turret, K Round uses its short legs to begin and crawl out of the hole it created in its crash. Apparently it’s still moving.

Panel 1 - Full shot as K Round rights itself out of the turret hole, apparently completely unharmed.

Panel 2 - Closeup shot on Kris as they grimace at the sight. This is not going to be so easy.

Panel 3 - Middle shot from behind Kris, as they yell towards Susie: “Susie, see if you can dig a trough we can direct it to!” In the background, K Round begins to clamber down the turret and back towards the ground.

Panel 4 - Wide shot as Kris backs away from the castle. K Round resumes its rolling stance and begins to pick up speed again, spinning towards Kris. Susie circles around behind K Round.

Panel 5 - In a close perspective shot, Susie begins to dig furiously at the ground, tossing aside chunks of rock and dirt as she works.

Panel 6 - A middle shot as K Round whirls around Kris, barely a hair’s breadth away from them. Kris stiffens, trying to avoid the huge rolling stone.

Panel 7 - A wide shot as K Round circles around Kris again, preventing them from running away. It begins to tilt towards Kris, like a spinning coin about to fall.

Page 8

Panel 1 - Middle shot of Ralsei, with the brewing magic between his claws now much brighter and stronger. He holds the magic in his claws and yells, “Kris, stand back!”

Panel 2 - A full shot of Kris, now unable to run, as K Round falls towards them, ready to completely crush them under its massive stone size.

Panel 3 - Closeup on Ralsei’s face as the magic swirls around him. He declares, “You, an endlessly rolling stone…”

Panel 4 - “STOP, and gather moss!” In a wider shot, Ralsei projects the glowing magic out from his hands.

Panel 5 - As Kris raises their arm in self defense, the magic hits K Round, surrounding it in a brilliant white flame and darkening its own visage.

Panel 6 - Kris watches as ahead of them, the magic swirls around K Round and seems to tear away at it. Charred black, chunks of the stone peel away and crumble, reducing its size and shape…

Panel 7 - The magic continues to work as more of the stone crumbles away, K Round getting smaller and smaller, changing shape from a round stone to a pointed one…

Panel 8 - Until finally, the magic dissipates, and all that remains is a much smaller stone pyramid, still sporting K Round’s wailing faces on its sides. It’s been changed into something much smaller and less threatening, especially now that it cannot move.
