A Letter to and from Humanity,
Well look where we are, on November 6th we have individually and as a collective looked around and said “what now”? Everyone has scrambled with a question of why, and analysis of how, and a forecast of the impacts to follow. I say that not as a nod to the impact of American election on the world as a singular thing but as a choice has changed their norms so it will impact ours. We can analyze each headline and data point as to pinpoint an exact reason. I think all would be correct from some viewpoint, but sometimes simplicity is the most overlooked.
Through our history as we grew in population size and diversity we developed unspoken social mandates, governing bodies, religions all to organize us as a living collective. Some have caused great horrors and others created wonderful outcomes. We have outfitted ourselves with different concepts of progress to get us to here. This is not a judgement or an endorsement of any one, because history is to be looked at, to learn, and not live in. All things organize. We find it in historical context in social and scientific discoveries, and in so many ways not yet discovered. This has brought technological advances that have propelled us to places now we have written about in our myths and legends of our promised possibilities. Some that have caused great harms that we will be grappling with until we address them, and wonderful impacts also. This is just an acknowledgment of that truth whether some may be able to accept it or not.
So why are we holding a bated breath? Is it democracy? In America was it held up in hope that a singular governing idea could all of the diversity and individuality in our collective with success. A hope that as technological advances were made the human horrors we have seen and caused would be mitigated.
The words ..in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity …without a specific moral mandate being made or forced on them. With just a document of words, a separated power of balance, and an amendable process for future progress. Could that be completely achieved?
This is not a proclamation that the collaboration that held it together was a pinnacle of success in every aspect. With each division, renewal and regression the papered consensus held. As time marched on and the humanity of nations went thru similar patterns and stages we peeked over cautiously for reassurance it held. With each success or failure it encountered we gained a bit more confidence. Yes it was viable, so models were continued, tried and taken on.
We have held together as a country and a world collective of nations as technology and social change has sped up and humanity has rushed towards the future, but at different points the collective has cried out in different ways because of the increasingly fast pace and nary a pause between the changes.
Globalization, new technology, social mandates, extreme capitalism each one will fix the future it was said. Each one thrown at systems that had stopped listening. Monetary data points and algorithms are not social capital. Corporations, technology, economic state are all inanimate things…not a living collective of people, no matter what is ruled by a court or viewed by a government. If you remove an inanimate item the people can still move forward, if you remove the people the other ceases. With each transaction the dark edges of a collective that is a part of us has moved forward until it is now at the front and in charge of a very important ideals.
We all feel it, every nation every person. I know some celebrate that very change for they look to provide the alternative to what we have we have known. Some are nations others individual. That gamble is the real question? Will their collective collapse and yours succeed is the question. Because if it does not you have handed a very powerful entity to a collection of ideas that have not played out well for humanity in any single form, and that was without the flood of scientific advances that are all a single potential cataclysm. Those dark edges only end up looking outwards eventually. Any doubt look at the super rich building bunkers, trying to rush off the planet, screaming AI only, all being built on the assumption that only technology will save us if we can build it fast enough or control it. Nations positioning themselves for self preservation as they see it. As we run headlong into the future now with all our worst fears appearing to take shape. Can we even conceive of the reaction to rebalance.
Well its seems grim. Their side has political power, money, technology, corporations, and a lot of rage and fear on their side. They have damaged the core of our collective, and the predators are circling the flock.
Will the original ideas of that consensus still hold, or will they slip away? Can the world without that specific influence hold the progress and still run ahead with no pause and not implode into the apocalyptic future of movies and religion. Jefferson had written a point..on similar ground it may be proved that no society can make a perpetual constitution, or even a perpetual law. The earth belongs always to the living generation…that would be us I believe.
That I guess this are choices we face, every faith of our humanity whether in an entity or in the potential of humans on its own has always said choice between the two would be made. You can call it scientific enlightenment, hope, or higher power as we move forward. All of the changes are here, we are moving to a completely different future for sure. Is it the ending of any one future? Who knows? Will we only be on one planet or spread out among the stars. Or is the self destruction decreed as we wonder? I don’t think any future is set, all of the potential technology and growth we have is from each nation, religion, and gender, and age from the past. The pandemic reminded us that we were fragile as individuals and nations in our system which is terrifying, so we react. It also showed that the earth is resilient if we pause if that is what is needed. Social changes have charged our collective, so we react. Each nation is feeling that pressure. Will we evolve or go back to individual entities and start over again if we can?
How we react will answer that question some I think. Other countries will still be looking at what is happening in our portion. We are in a new political era, and we will all be impacted. I’m afraid the old system of reaction on problems is not working. I’m not an expert just a participant with a viewpoint. Technology and corporations have been allowed to grow faster than we can react and without any concern if that growth would be negative to the whole, we have started noticing. I not anti-capital or technology just pragmatic, unlike some I understand we humanity does not always choose for itself what it has to operate in. We do not move as fast as the trending markets, so the perceived doom spiral is something that they created for themselves and us. They control the algorithms and the platforms. So we have to play in their arena. Are they omnipotent right now?
Not at this point I don’t think. Their AI isn’t perfect that’s why they want no regulations, they think that just powering models are the answer I think, I have my own theory. They have connected the world in an unprecedented technological manner, and we now have the largest organic computer on the planet. That sounds farfetched but simplicity often does, but corporations still have to have people and governments do to, that’s why they have focused on algorithms and laws. Algorithms and data gathering is nothing new, patterns have been followed throughout history. We have 68,000,000 data points that voted for our side, and some portion of 8.2 billion in the world that are looking over here and around that are all feeling uneasy. The only time I saw true concern on their side was when there was an immediate coalescing of the just part of a collection. China isn’t a set solid yet, even with their technological controls, they got nervous about youth a night bike ride trend from boredom, because it was an unexpected movement of the collective. We have the power to move markets, trends, and opinion with the tools they gave us for now. A herd in nature evades predators by moving as a collective, that isn’t a weakness it is a strategy developed by nature to protect individuals in a group collective. The idea in evolution a single dominant alpha for protection of the weak as the only way is ridiculous. We have progressed some using reason to pick what works when needing to address a problem.
None of us are excited about being here, it’s depressing and just seems relentless. I don’t think it’s hopeless if we are awake. For us in this Democract collective I would say we can try, get a game/trend of “tagyourit” going with the group texts of the Harris voters and have them subscribe to Blue-sky network it’s a click. See how far the subscribes can go up, if we move the needle even more we have a starting point. It's at 15 million right now, enough numbers and I have a few other games that will cause some reaction that we direct not that they directed at us. Also that could build some buffers.
So perhaps a single letter does nothing, but a single paper before held a whole nation together. There’s compassion for the ones who will suffer and cannot struggle, for the ones who are just considered fodder by those to high up to see. The sense of just wrong that we all felt, the world just skittered to a different future. Yet the underlying knowledge that we can be better, since we started organizing in caves and even then began concepts that there was more to us than just a form. I hope that stays with you through all of this for a solace. I just had a few thoughts, not a poet or a pundit but maybe someone finds it interesting.
It’s getting really annoying to see people get away with using us as data cows, political fall out fodder, or the fact we aren’t going to have anyone think about out harm if we don’t start punching back.
