murdoc and russel communicate entirely through music. russel hates to admit it, but murdoc really does have a natural talent for composing music. russel consoled him right after plastic beach, because he's never heard anything so depressing come from murdoc's head. passing by murdoc's room, he cant help but smile slightly when after a long period of desolate rock, he faintly hears "i want to hold your hand" by the beatles. he knows its going to be a better day.

This made me make a little happy huff because I totally imagine their relationship like this. Not so much talking, a lot more actions and outside-the-box ways of communicating. Deep talks between the two are rare and never happen before 1am when they’re both stoned. Russel does a lot of listen, and Murdoc does a lot of talking but they say the most through their music choices. More than once they’ve had a fight and instead of apologizing they’ll send the other a youtube video of a song, and then they make up
