it's really hard to do this without spoilers, but hell, I'll try

Lucas's mother is dead. She died when he was no more than ten, and that death sent his family into a spiral. His father broke down in front of them and physically attacked the other villagers.

It only ended when he was knocked out and thrown in jail. And Lucas, anywhere from 8-10, had to watch and listen to a breakdown that was completely new to him (tragedy was literally not a thing in their town before his mother violently died!!!)

and of course his life doesn’t get better after that. In order to avenge their mom, his twin Claus chases after what killed her - and goes missing for three years. His father goes looking for his missing twin, every single day, leaving Lucas, a depressed child, alone every single day.

(Capitalism also happens and that's tragic enough in itself)

the kid canonically tries to kill himself. And that's not the only suicide he's present for in the game.

So apparently I just found out that Patrick O'Neal (dude who plays the main antagonist of tsw) DOES play in Columbo. It is season 1 episode 7 called "Blueprint for murder". Man literally plays the same character in every movie he is in, LOL.
