There was a moment where he was terrified for her — but Mother Giselle insists she’s okay. He thinks the old bat should be grateful he’s more worried about Elodie at the moment. He opens his mouth to talk, but he hears Cassandra and Cullen start to argue, albeit quietly in the background. “ They are. I don’t think those two know how to do anything else. ” If anything, he’s trying to keep Elodie from having to join in. For claiming to look to her for guidance, these advisors sure seem like hacks to him. “ You don’t have to join them if you don’t want to. You should rest. ”

"really?" she says, turning to look at him from where she lays on a camp bed, trying not to laugh - - to breathe too hard - - for fear of angering one of her cracked ribs. "i would have liked to have seen you force cassandra to do anything." mother giselle said she'd gotten away relatively unscathed, had seemed surprised at the fact that elodie had made it with some damaged ribs (bruised, cracked, broken, somehow nothing piercing anything important), a sprained wrist, a twisted ankle, bruises, a touch of frostbite....but, oh, it could have been worse. "besides, i always wanted to prove our family wrong: being annoying does have its values." annoying and seemingly so small, so weak, corypheus hadn't thought she'd ever be able to unleash a mountain's worth of snow. but her gaze passes over simon's shoulder toward the sound of bickering before she meets his eyes again. Ruhn turns back to his drink, picking it up and taking a sip. “ So, who’s so important they dragged you here? Kinda thought this place was beneath you. ”

“    someone certainly has a high opinion of himself,    ” she says, the syllables flavoured with equal parts honey and citric acid. ruhn danaan was that lethal blend of charming, handsome, and cocksure which annoyed her so, if only because she knows it spells trouble. better to keep such males at arm's length. and yet, in a complete betrayal of her own principles, she offers the prince a sweet smile. “    i'll have you know i'm not here for you, however, if you're buying, i won't say no to one of whatever you're having while i wait.    ”
