June 29, 2025 - Papuan Grassbird (Cincloramphus macrurus) Found on New Guinea and several nearby islands, these grassbirds live in grasslands, wetlands, shrublands, and cultivated areas. Foraging alone or in pairs on or near the ground, they eat arthropods and other invertebrates along with some grass and sedge seeds and pine needles. They build open cup-shaped nests from grass stems hidden in clumps of grass. Females lay clutches of two to four eggs.
