A small smile spread across Gators face as she spoke, his hands still playing with the soft fabric of the hat. Gator never had anyone who cared about him. That was something he was realising, but Dot broke that. She was the only one to care for him.

The idea of being stuck in a new house, blind with other released prisoners, scared him. There was a chance that they were people he had arrested when he was a deputy, which could be a bad thing and the fact he was blind. It scared him.

"I'm blind... What would I be able to do at a car dealership?" What could he do anywhere? Could he even get a job? Could he ever have a normal life? He had a criminal record, and even though her new family had a connection, he doubted that they would help him after all he helped his father create this mess.

"Times have changed, but I bet you still look as pretty as ever." Gator had always thought Dot was pretty and far too good for his father, not that he ever said anything. Knowing he would get a beating for even thinking something that he thought was quite innocent.

Her visits were always his favourite part of his time locked away. No one else visited him, and she brought some sense of normality to his life. His hand clutched around the tin and soft fabric, his head tilting up and over to where her voice had been coming from. "You remembered." He whispered as he felt the soft material of the hat. His favourite colour hadn'tchanged in all that time, but she remembered it. It made him tear up, and he squeezed the hat gently.

"A halfway house? with other people?" That didn't make him nervous at all. He would need to learn a layout of the house, hope that he doesn't walk into anyone. Here he was pretty isolates away from people, most of the people in his cell block, he had gotten use to but he never went out and mingled with other blocks for fear of running into his father. "Help me how?"
