Hello Tumblr

So, this will be a shorter update, it's already quite late and I just got stood up for the 8th time by somebody I've been trying to link up with for weeks so I'm just not in the mood to write a lot today.

First things first, my goals. I have not found a job yet, I am actively looking still. I know theres a lot of places that may be hiring but they require online applications. Since I feel overwhelmed, I'm honestly going to refrain from in-person walkarounds and simply apply online to every business in the "Discover Atlanta Now" magazine. I figure my two years experience at a Mcdonald's front counter will transfer over to Hospitality quite well.

Second, the fanfiction. I have started work, got five paragraphs done. I still have a lot of work to do on it, might have at least three or four vignettes in the second chapter. A link will be posted to my socials, as expected. I wish I had more time to do these this week.

This week I had to leave for home on the 18th because I had to visit my psychiatrist on the 19th, because apparently the medication I take requires he see me in person once a year. Normally I use tele-health. I was planning to go home on the 19th first, because of an eye-doctor appointment on the 20th. So, it was an unexpected occurrence. That's not to say that all my distractions this week were bad.

on the 19th, after my psychiatrist appointment was done Dad dropped me off at a friends house where we hung out before going to Atlantic Station. We went to go see Sonic the Hedgehog 3 on opening night with his buddies. It was a good time, but I don't have the energy or time to ramble about how good the movie was. totally recommend though.

anyways, I unfortunately don't have much time to find jobs down here anyway. I have to leave Atlanta again on the 23rd or 24th to go home for Christmas. My family and I will be visiting my fathers family in New England, and won't be back until the 31st. then there will be about a dozen days for me to start something before the start of the school year.

Weekly Goals

-Find a Job for Spring Semester: Already walked around downtown to locate a couple places which are hiring. I'm gonna apply to some hotels tomorrow, as well as positions at the Georgia World Congress Center. I'm also going to check out the Atlanta Ambassadors folks, those guys on the funny scooters in the red uniforms. I talked to a guy in the kiosk at Peachtree Center and they get paid 17 an hour. honestly, not a bad gig since i get my food on a meal plan.

-Finally crank out Chapter two of my fanfiction. I started writing a Murder Drones fanfiction in October, called "Support your local Union." it's more of a Military Sci-FI thing than the horror comedy we see on the show. It's been on hiatus because of school, but since I'm on break, I guess now is a good time to start cranking it out again. I think I'll make chapter two as five vignettes, with me writing one for each day monday-friday, than posting the chapter on Saturday. I think I'll link the fanfiction in all the relevant discord servers and also here when it's ready.

Nervous about Grades

Alright, so, first saturday post of the blog. Basically, I think at the end of each week, I'll summarize my thoughts on the week, and then every sunday I'll set goals for the next week.

Anyways. this past week was my last week of first semester for sophomore year at Georgia State. Now, I'm not too concerned about my Sociology or Media Writing finals, I tend to do well on writing assignments. I'm concerned about my Spanish grade, as I'm not sure if I got a good enough grade for it to not bring down my overall grade to a C. Currently my grade in Spanish 2 is an 85, so hopefully it's enough that it doesn't get hit too badly. Verb endings are tough for me to memorize alright?

Oh, the other test I'm worried about? Perspective on Comparative Culture. It's sort of a grab bag course. I guess it allows a Tenured social sciences professor to do a course on whatever they want, so it's not the same topic in each individual class for the course. Class I took was on Criminal Justice, and I was doing pretty fine, I thought. I had a bad grade on an early discussion I had forgotten to complete on time, as I was distracted by attending Dragoncon 2024--Oh yeah, Dragoncon's fun, it's held in the Hotel District basically on the first week of school, so I can attend without paying for a hotel room.--But I was doing well on the tests.

I had an 80 on the first exam, and an 80 on the next. My classwork grade was a 77 so I thought my 3rd exam would easily secure me a B-. Unfortunately, I somehow flubbed the 3rd exam so badly I got a 36, bringing my exam grade to a 65. I know it's a weighted average, but i'm not going to bother calculating it right now.

I'm concerned about this because my GPA affects my ability to keep the HOPE Scholarship, which means if my GPA is too low I'll have to figure out how I'm gonna pay to stay in the dorms.

If I was to commute, it'd be difficult. My family's home is 30 minutes from the nearest Train station, and I don't have a drivers license, so I would have to rely on them to transport me. Plus, I don't exactly feel at home, at home. That's a vent for another day though. It's not that i'd be in danger, we all love each other, there's just a lot of stress.

I'll hope for the best. I'll have to apply for the payment plan anyway, since I don't have enough in my refund to pay down the full amount yet, and Sallie Mae won't disperse until the 2nd week of classes. Stupid right? I have to pay this down by the 13th of January but it won't be there until the 22nd! At least with the payment plan, it gives me time to find a job, which I'll need either way, especially given the oncoming economic issues we're in for with the incoming administration. I'll talk more about that tomorrow though. That's it for now, Tumblr. ttyl

Le Epic Blog Intro

Alright, here goes nothing. My funny yoshikage ass intopost.

My name is Derpsternium, you may call me derp. I'm 20 years old. My (current) residence is in the downtown section of Atlanta, where all the dorms are, and I am not married. I study as a sophomore at Georgia State University, and I return to my dorm nearly everyday at 5-7PM at the latest. I don't smoke, I don't drink, but I would be interested in taking an edible if anyone offered one at a party or something. I'm in bed by midnight, and make sure I get at least five hours of sleep, no matter what. After having a midnight snack and chatting on discord or watching youtube in bed for two hours, I usually have no problems sleeping until 7 in the morning. Just like a baby, I usually wake up without any fatigue or stress in the morning. I wasn't informed of any issues at my last checkup, but I'm waiting on the bloodwork results. I participate in my campus's YDSA org. I take care not to fall into... how the fuck do I translate this part to me? uhhhh.... That is how I deal with society, and I know that is what brings me happiness. Although, if I were to fight I wouldn't lose to anyone.

Fuck it. My pronouns are He/Him, I'm a Bisexual guy who wants to be a Journalist, and I love playing strategy games, watching youtube video essays, and roleplaying on discord.

I think it'll do. I have to get packed so I can head to the Student center when it opens. I have two big assignments that have been worrying me.

Media Writing Final, a How-To Article on a topic of our choice, I chose Managing Blood Pressure. I have to find two people to interview. I've already interviewed one, but I have to get another interview because I need to submit this thing by end of Wednesday.

Oh, and our final paper for sociology is also due on Wednesday. It's four pages, five paragraphs.

I think my plan is to complete all the research on monday, the drafting on tuesday, and the final submission on wednesday. It's crunch time. Then I also need to worry about my Spanish Final Exam, and finding a job over Winter Break so i can stop leaching off my financial aid refund exclusively. Hopefully one that's unionized.

Shit, I'm rambling. I gotta get packed.
